"Looking for clues

François Doré, a retired Sûreté du Québec officer who worked on the case, described the discovery of the remains as "a major step" in the investigation.
Cédrika Provencher

He said police will be looking for clothing, a weapon or anything else that may provide clues, pointing out that DNA identification has improved substantially since Cédrika went missing in 2007.

Police had had a suspect in mind but never had enough evidence to lay charges, Doré said.

He said he's "hopeful and careful" the development in the case could lead to an arrest."

"The discovery has injected hope into the case, which has frustrated investigators for years.

Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Daniel Thibaudeau said Monday police decided to dispatch 200 specially trained officers to the scene in an attempt to gather as many clues as possible before snow accumulates in the area.

Originally, police had planned to devote 100 officers to the search.

In a short statement, police said the investigation was ongoing and the force would offer no further comment Monday".

In an effort to rule out any possible suspects, LE have checked all registered owners of 2004 Red Acura. All were cleared except one man who resides in Trois Rivieres.

When police located the owner and questioned him about his vehicle, he told them it was stored. It was cleaned and put away in storage. They examined the vehicle but found nothing. The individual refused to take a polygraph.

The individual has lawyered up. He told the reporter that he has been cooperative with LE and quote (translated to English)

"I'm not interested in it, he quickly concluded. For me, this is ancient history. It has affected my life for three years, I prefer to turn the page and move on to another story. "

September 6, 2007: Investigators with the Sûreté du Québec release a description of a possible suspect in the case. He is said to be a white, French-speaking man, between 30 and 40 years of age. The man was of average height and had brown hair. The SQ adds they believe he was driving a red four-door Acura with a beige interior, chrome door handles, manual transmission and untinted windows. The suspect may have approached other children in the neighbourhood, police said.

I don't remember the interior detail information or the manual transmission info either.

Wondering if there is a possibility that the remains of other missing children might be found in those woods?

ETA: 'The Lodger' referred to in 'November 84' documentary is noted to be Perron in the October 23rd article.

This fenced area with gate was finished building in 2005-2006. It is a control station belonging to Gaz Metropolitain (the only natural gas distributor in quebec).Gas workers goes there once or twice a year in average.gates have padlock... i wonder if employees ever noticed a forced entry or a missing padlock...

It is possible the actual owner of the red Acura is completely innocent, oblivious even ---- thinking perhaps the perp (roommate of car owner) had access to the car without owners knowledge or consent...
