Wow. Oak Bay police sound bitchy and unprofessional. There are ways to interact with the public when you disagree with them, and this isn't it.
Not going to disagree it came off as unprofessional in isolation, but the comments are full of folks saying the guy being responded to is a well-known troll. I don't know if that is true or not. But it seems like there's prior history at work here, so I suspect he baited himself into getting that response.

I can see how a horse will protect the rider from two suspects with an unknown number of guns who have already killed 3 people.

The person behind this LE twitter is my hero, lol
Haaaaa. That was gold.

I love it when people like him try to tell law enforcement how to do their jobs, especially when he basically wants law enforcement to take an unnecessary risk because he doesn’t like armored vehicles.

“Show us how it’s done cowboy.”

Can someone please clarify—where was the bearded man seen with Lucas and Chynna? Was it on the side of the highway? And if so, did the person who saw this note any other vehicle pulled over? The bearded man would have been driving something.
believe it was a black jeep Cherokee, could be mixed up at this point. Heard nothing more about it, I'd wager was one of probably a few people who stopped to see if they needed help and was politely waved off since they were just waiting for part to dry out
guy could not know anyone wants to talk to him, or could just not want to get involvd if he has no info/ didnt see anything, or is worried about being connected in anyway

Jeep Cherokee with stripe, but please don't look for him. RCMP doesn't want us to bring him up again.

The only reason to torch an auto is to get attention to that area. They got the cops to go end of road. I will bet they got a ride out already planed
Lot of people will not deal with law enforcement up there or anyware for that matter.

With that article it's probably a 10 second search to pull up the exact address with a directory listing. Quality media again.
Actually was more difficult than you'd assume. I think maybe media decided against it?
but that pic isnt actually in the article anymore, so they must have deleted.

I really think the way out was the road through Thompson to Snow Lake. Then you have Route 39 and you get to Highway 10 and a choice to go north or south. They could have hitched out of Gillam down that way, although you would think with the information as widespread as it is in Canada right now, whomever picked them up would have reported it.

If they were still alive, that is......

I haven't excluded that possibility. An as of yet undiscovered murder and another vehicle for them.

we are sort of assuming that "word is out" and everyone is aware of these two and looking for them, but are some of the native communities. or campers, etc. not that connected to the news?

With a cell phone you don't always have the same IP address. They can track what towers you connect to and trace your movements, and possibly any unencrypted communication, based on one of your devices unique identifiers though.

But then it becomes a matter of linking that device specifically to you. Unless they found it on your person that could be difficult, unless you logged into an account only you have access to.

But your carrier will still know that your dynamic IP is you, right? Your internet traffic can still be traced back to your phone (and whoever was using it at the time, in theory). Right?

For most of us, it wouldn't be too hard to establish whether we had our phones on our persons, based on all the data that we'd be sending out.

For people interested in the Oak Bay Police tweet slamming a “critic” of the investigation...

Oak Bay is a well-off area, essentially a suburb of Victoria, Vancouver Island: Oak Bay, British Columbia - Wikipedia Port Alberni, where the guys being hunted are from, is also on Vancouver Island.

One nice way to spend an afternoon is over a few glasses of wine on the deck of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, which has a nice view of Washington State.

Why don't you head up there? Seems you've got it all worked out from your vast experience...watching Manhunt on TV.

We, on the other hand, are so grateful to our sisters & brothers who are risking their lives to try to capture these dangerous criminals.

#CanadaManHunt

I was shocked to read this because it was so informal, but I kind of liked it too lol.

I will say I think many police in Greater Victoria and maybe even the island (I live here) might be touchy as a couple years ago young mother of two young children Constable Sarah Beckett was killed on duty while pursuing a man with long history of drinking and driving (IIRC). It shook up the community, was very sad and her funeral was a very large gathering of first responders going down the highway.

Or maybe Oak Bay Police were just having a bad day with social media!

It wouldn’t be very Sherlock Holmesy of us to just disregard . We can sleuth him on our own and there has been a sketch put out by LE ..: soooo ... I say sleuth away but just don’t post outside TOS . I for one would like to see who this person may actually be ? I doubt it was LD .

You also have to think there are quite alot of people who dont really watch news, read the papers, or listen to radio as part of daily lives. Theres prolly people in toronto never heard of these 2

If possible, can you map that? You were right about Cold Lake.

We need @otto as well.

Since they stopped at Dease, after seeing Chyanna Deese surname on her license, my guess is that they drove past Hudson's Hope based on some ID from Lucas.

Then they crossed into Alberta near Grand Prairie, and followed lesser roads north of Edmonton to Cold Lake.

I will map the whole route, based on their behaviour. If they left Gillam, they went from Thompson to Flin Flin.

Or he has already talked with RCMP. They did release a sketch of this man as a POI earlier on, but have now moved on to Kam and Bryer as the suspects. Though it’s possible this man was Bryer or Kam, I personally doubt that and think it’s more likely he was just a passing motorist expressing his opinion that it wasn’t a great place to camp. This is conjecture on my part, but probably just as valid as conjecture that this was a sinister confrontation—which it may have been.

Correct, the RCMP announced the canvassing during their 4pm (Eastern time) press conference.

That seems to me to be a logical progression. If they search the surrounding countryside they would eventually need to check every house as well. Kinda surprised it has not happened already to be honest.
