Unable to find an article that states the date the white Ford pick-up was stolen - according to the RCMP this pick-up truck had a key for McCann's SUV hidden in the bed between 2 items.

.... who told the court on Monday that in 2010, he woke up one morning to find his 2006 Ford F-350 truck stolen from the Diamond Wood RV Resort which is located near Niton junction.

Bertrand said he left his truck unlocked with a spare set of keys in the console. He said he last saw his truck the evening before it was stolen.

http://globalnews.ca/news/2591750/t...uses-on-stolen-truck-containing-mccanns-keys/

The article states the Ford was found on 17 July 2010.

By 13 Aug 2010, a connection to the stolen Ford and the McCann case was made -

Sgt. Grant Goulet, a member of the RCMP's Major Crimes Unit, knew on Aug. 13, 2010, that he was going to investigate a truck police believed was linked to Travis Vader and the investigation of the disappearance of St. Albert couple Lyle and Marie McCann. He told court Tuesday morning he did not realize until the afternoon of the investigation, Aug. 16, the significance of what he had found: a set of keys for a Hyundai. After finding them tucked between the box and a fuel tank in the back of the F-350 at the evidence Bay in St. Albert, he said he took them to the K Division bay in Edmonton as he knew there was a Hyundai SUV there that belonged to the McCanns."My intent going there was to see if indeed, this key fit the car," Goulet said. "I distinctly remember my first action was hitting the key fob, and the lights flashed. My reaction to that was, 'Wow.'"

"The keys to the McCanns' SUV were found in the bed of that truck."Beresh said on the day the truck was found the investigating officer's report makes no mention of the key, even though it does mention several items found right next to where the key was. Those items included a trailer hitch lodged between the tank and the box of the truck, a hose running from the tank into the truck cab and a wire running to the tank from the driver's side of the truck."A conscientious investigator would look around that area, right?" Beresh asked.

... while Beresh was continuing his cross-examination of Young about his role in investigating the Ford F-350 and also the Hyundai Tucson SUV, he suggested Young had been looking for a key to the SUV on Aug. 30, 2011.Young said he contacted investigators and was told no key was available."I was told I would have to get a key cut," he said.

http://myinforms.com/en-gb/a/28103449-vader-evidence-on-trial/

So the burned out SUV still had power on 13 Aug 2010 when one investigator tried the key fob found in the Ford. On 30 Aug 2011, another investigator had no idea there was a key for the McCann's vehicle in the RCMP's possession.

From 15 Dec 2015 -

Details of forensic exams on the couple's motor home and SUV were released today when a publication ban was lifted ...

There was also a Mr. Big-like sting launched targeting Vader's sister, B-J Vader, in November 2011.
...

"B J Vader was very willing and excited to transport package on train to Winnipeg. Objectives of scenario were achieved and Bobbi Jo did provide (undercover officer) additional information other than what she had provided to investigators. She said she believed that Travis was involved in the murders and she saw guns wrapped up in blankets that could have come from the McCanns' motor home."

Testimony on 15 March 2016 from one of the McCann's sons - last person to see Lyle & Marie -

His parents did own some guns, he said. His father had four rifles and shotguns, used years earlier for hunting ducks and gophers, and his mother kept a small Derringer pistol by her bedside after she caught a man looking in their window.

The couple never took the guns on camping trips, McCann said, and they were all found in his parents’ home after they vanished.

"Their bodies have never been found, but police believe they were killednear the hamlet of Peers, east of Edson."

It would seem to still be a priority to locate Lyle and Marie's remains and I would need to agree with the RCMP that they are near the hamlet of Peers. For some reason gas well sites and small accessible nooks that surround these sites seem to be favored by moronic reptiles such as Vader and I doubt that one would need to search any further than about 20 feet into the trees to locate the remains because these reptiles are lazy as hell when it comes to any real work. After they've had their fun they just sort of shed their skin and leave. Just saying, kudos to the RCMP and two thumbs up for the Peers area.

Imo, the RCMP will heavily rely on an unquestioning public to continue to believe what they have been telling said public since 2010.

Now that it's time to present the circumstantial evidence the RCMP say they have (after a self imposed interruption in 2014) - it's faltering in many places imo. So far I'm seeing the potential for another GPM here - in 2016 no less.

Kudos to Beresh - he's bravely standing against most of the population of Canada, and then some, to have the RCMP and the Crown put some meat on the bones. He's winning imo.

TV jailhouse informant info - al a GPM for any that remembers the sad circumstances in that case -

The double-murder case against Travis Vader is partly based on evidence from a jail-house informant paid by the RCMP, according to new documents filed in an Alberta court.
...

He was originally scheduled to go to trial in April 2014. But according to court documents, the RCMP failed to disclose pertinent evidence to the Crown, including details about the informant.
...

The disclosure problem was so serious that the Crown felt compelled to stay the first-degree murder charges against Vader.
...

Vader's lawyers have argued that prosecutors stayed the charges only to put the trial on hold to buy themselves more time to bolster a weak case.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...paid-informant-court-documents-show-1.3400147

The informant, referred to in court documents as an “in-custody police agent” assisted with the investigation while incarcerated.

After that informant was paid, Crown prosecutor Michelle Doyle noticed missing documents in the RCMP’s disclosure about the witness.

http://edmontonjournal.com/news/crime/rcmp-paid-in-custody-witness-during-mccann-investigation

Trying to find the article(s) where it's stated that the 'in custody police agent' informed the RCMP that Vader told him where the bodies of the McCann's are - then wanted more money to disclose the location.

Not having any luck - but it's hard to make that up or insert that particular detail.

Chuckles. Jmo.

I also remember the article that stated that the informant would tell LE the location of the bodies if the person received more money after having already been paid $22,000.

Thank-you kdgdid - the $ figure you recalled brought up this article -

The notes also suggest that a paid RCMP witness said that he would tell police where the bodies of the missing St. Albert couple are, if he was given more money.

The allegations in the notes have not been proven in court. But they further illuminate the disorganization and lack of communication between the RCMP and Crown in the case.

A note on another page reads there was "no clue he was paid 22 thousand dollars." A separate line suggests that the man told police that "if he gets more $$$" he will say where the bodies are.

Wonder if the Crown will drop 'in custody police agent' guy? They should imo - we already know how much money the RCMP has wasted on the guy - why relive the agony?

What a sham - imo. O/T - I never believed the 'lone shooter/homegrown radical terrorist who dug up a gun on his aunts property after 10 years or so' story that the RCMP handed out after the shooting at the National War Memorial on Parliament Hill, 22 Oct 2014 - now I really don't believe it.

The following few posts are a mixed bag of things I noticed while reading about this case.

From post #532 - caretaker at a campground near where the motorhome was found burned.

Wenaas said he was a caretaker for the Minnow Lake and Wolf Lake campgrounds near Peers, Alta., in July 2010, and on July 5 everything was fairly quiet after the Canada Day long weekend. He arrived at 6:30 a.m. to check the self-registration box and clear away the garbage.

In Site 8 of the nine-site, horseshoe-shaped campground, he saw a motorhome and a green SUV he would later identify as belonging to the McCanns based on media reports.
...

Wenaas returned around 12:30 p.m. that day, and observed there was no change with either the motorhome or SUV. He knocked again, waited 15 to 20 minutes, and left.
...

He returned a third time that day at 9:30 p.m. to once again check the self-registration box for registration money. He said he spoke to a park ranger and a tow-truck driver.
“That's when I found out the motorhome had burnt,” he said.

http://www.stalbertgazette.com/arti...317?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

By this testimony, the motorhome burned between 12:30 pm and before 9:30 pm 5 July 2010.

An ex-gf of TV has testified she saw TV on 4 July 2010 - per post #539.

Saddleback-Sexsmith said she was shocked by Vader's appearance.

"When I saw him on July 4, he was gaunt, he wasn't shaved. His hair was messy. He was very agitated.

" And he was thin. Very thin."

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...ssible-motive-for-murder-of-mccanns-1.3503389

AS-S also testified to something she could not have known (that on 4 July 2010 she thought TV was responsible for what happened to the McCann's - which was impossible) but is she embellishing that she saw TV on 4 July 2010?

TV's sister, B-JV has not testified yet in this trial, but as per post #537 she told reporters she saw TV on 4 July 2010 and he stayed with her until 9 July 2010.

But on July 4, she said, he drove up to the home she shares with her foster mother, Esther Rose McKay-Crosswell, looking for sanctuary.

"He was tired and he was sick and he needed to rest," the sister said. "Travis has been running from the police for a while."

Mr. Vader stayed with the women until July 9, she said. Although he drove up in a vehicle, his sister said it wasn't an SUV.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...ter-day-after-couple-vanished/article1388265/

TV's sister and ex-gf are both saying they saw TV in Edmonton - not all that far from Peers, Alta (where the motorhome was seen/found burned). Did Vader slip away, burn the motorhome and return to his sisters house?

Sister B-JV claimed in 2010 that her brother was not driving an SUV and as per post #542, the RCMP claim TV was in possession of a stolen Ford pick-up truck.

The date(s) the RCMP think TV had the Ford are elusive.

In post #543, B-JV eventually became an ally of the RCMP regarding her brothers involvement with the McCann's - willingly or unwillingly is also not very clear. She did know she was 'working' alongside the RCMP at one point.

The canned goods with MM blood spatter, LM hat and the beer can - all found in the McCann's SUV, according to the RCMP and the Crown.

From 15 Dec 2015 - docs released from publication ban.

The McCanns' vehicle was discovered 13 days after the couple vanished. RCMP said officers located items inside the SUV "consistent with trauma to the McCanns, including the blood of Marie McCann and Lyle McCann's hat with a bullet hole on it."

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...ehicle-of-missing-couple-crown-says-1.3365953

From 8 March 2016 - Crown's opening remarks.

Inside the SUV, police found canned goods the couple had purchased for their trip to B.C. Those cans were spattered with Marie McCann's blood.

Lyle McCann's hat was found inside the SUV, with his blood on it. Stewart said Vader's DNA was found on the hat, and his DNA and a fingerprint were found on a can of beer in the front-seat console of the SUV. He said Vader's blood was also found on the centre armrest and on the front passenger seat and steering wheel.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/travis-vader-lyle-marie-mccann-trial-1.3479731

The same writer wrote both articles. What happened to the bullet hole the opening remarks?

More from ex-gf AS-S testimony -

"I went to go give him a hug. I was like hugging a bag of bones. Like squishy."

She said he told her he was starving.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...ssible-motive-for-murder-of-mccanns-1.3503389

Why didn't Vader eat some of the canned goods if he had been on the run prior to 4 July 2010? Did the RCMP find any opened cans in the SUV or the burned wreckage of the motorhome? Did TV load canned goods into the SUV from the motorhome (at the campground?) and forget to grab a can opener? Why did TV put LM's hat in the SUV? There is no evidence the McCann's were in the SUV at time of death or after death.

Post # 528 - The Crown wanted to introduce the beer can evidence on 14 March 2016 - but alas, found that ooops! some cop has it so no can do today, and will get back to that later.

No mention the Crown wanted to introduce the hat (with or without a bullet hole) and the canned goods on that day - or any day yet as far as I can find. Who has the swab of blood from the arm rest?

From article in post #538 - article dated 24 March 2016. WN, friend of TV, initially told RCMP in 2010 TV told him he stole McCann's vehicle, but during testimony, claimed he lied to RCMP at that time. Also from that article -

When Finlayson then asked him if his statement to police was true, Nikolyuk replied “No.” He then claimed that he “was told” that Vader had stolen the SUV, “but not by Travis.”

http://edmontonjournal.com/news/cri...er-claimed-to-have-stolen-missing-couples-suv

From another article also dated 24 March 2016 -

And on Thursday, Beresh seemed to launch into that defence strategy when he repeatedly asked witness William Nikolyuk about his involvement with Terry McColman, a man who was interviewed by the RCMP regarding his friendship with Vader as part of the investigation into the disappearance of the McCanns.
....

Nikolyuk also testified that McColman used to buy cheap beer and he had seen him purchase Boxer beer many times.
....

On Wednesday, Nikolyuk agreed he told police in an audiotaped interview that Vader had told him he had stolen the McCanns’ SUV, but did not kill them. However, he testified he was lying to police when he said that and had actually heard it from McColman.

http://www.edmontonsun.com/2016/03/...uggest-new-theory-in-st-albert-couples-murder

Imo, the damn beer can should have been introduced as evidence already - just as the Crown wanted/tried to do more than a week ago.

From an article dated 30 June 2011 -

Multiple sources have told CTV News they believe Johnson may have held key information about the missing couple. But what she may have known will never be learned because exactly one month after the McCanns went missing, she died in a head-on crash near Drayton Valley.
...

Loved ones of Terry McColman say in the past year, he was questioned by police multiple times, and had his property searched because he and Vader were close friends at the time the couple disappeared. McColman died last month, apparently of a heart attack.

Police now say they had interest in him.

"Terry McColman is a person who was spoken to, Terry McColman has since passed away as well," said Campbell.
...

But Johnson and McColman had more in common than drug problems and Vader. Both were in the company of the same person when they died. According to multiple sources, that man is well known to Vader. And a coincidence even more bizarre, is that same man was living in St. Albert last summer, just 800 metres from the home of Lyle and Marie.

It's been said truth is stranger than fiction.

A Crown firearms expert testified Tuesday at the Travis Vader murder trial that a blood-spattered ball cap belonging to Lyle McCann had a bullet hole in it. More at the link:

I think the judge is getting tired of his excuses. Being late once is bad enough, but 4 times is ridiculous.

Travis Vader may be sent back to jail after he showed up late for his trial for the fourth time Wednesday morning.

Late for his murder trial 4 times? Slept in? Omg. Gmafb.

I hope the judge tosses him in jail for the duration of the trial.

I agree. His excuses are BS and as the evidence keeps piling up against him in court, he is becoming more of a flight risk every day. :moo:

Accused killer Travis Vader remains free on bail after the Crown decided Friday not to proceed with an application to have his release revoked.

Instead, a judge added three conditions to Vader’s current bail order, including that he be subject to random drug testing, not more than once a week.

 Another warning, which he will most likely ignore. More at the link.
