AAlek Minassian, 25, has been identified by CBS News as the person arrested by police on suspicion of driving a white Ryder van into a crowd of pedestrians in Toronto this afternoon, killing multiple people. Witnesses said the driver was traveling fast when he jumped a curb and hit “everything in his path.” When police arrested him after he fled the scene, he approached them with what appeared to be a gun in his hand. Officials are saying that the act was deliberate. The motive in the crash is not yet known, but early reports indicate the driver hit the pedestrians deliberately.

Police have not commented. Both Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne have separately stated that more information is needed to determine if this was an act of terrorism.

I’m so sorry tragedy has struck in Canada again. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone killed, injured and all Canadians.

Sorry good people ... posts have been removed.

Until we can say 110% that we have the right individual, please do not post or link to individuals just because they have the same name.

Thank you. But also... there's nothing more than 100%. We can't really be 110% anything.

It's my way of adding emphasis because my font sizes and bolding are not available to me today.

Zerohedge is not MSM. Unconfirmed reports could well be correct but let's wait for MSM.

We don't want another Boston Marathon situation here with the wrong person identified.

More Toronto: suspect allegedly researched and chatted online about Isla Vista killings from 2014. Mental illness, not terror, a leading theory for today’s incident, according to three officials.

NBC News: Multiple law enforcement officials in Canada and the U.S. say the preliminary theory is that Minassian may have had mental health issues and had an online discussion about Eliot Rodger who went on a rampage at UC Santa Barbara.

Wow, this one shows greater detail of the arrest, lucky police officer, and bystanders here if you ask me, this is insane

Wow. He was pointing whatever was in his hand right at the officer and not following orders. I’m amazed they were able to arrest him without shooting him.

1. Minassian Was Known to Law Enforcement and May Have Previously Researched Killings in Isla Vista, California

Jonathan Dienst of NBC News reported that Minassian had allegedly researched and chatted online about the Isla Vista killings in California in 2014. The Isla Vista massacre occurred when 22-year-old Elliot Rodger killed six people and injured 14. He stabbed three men in his apartment, and then drove to a sorority house and shot three female students outside. Then Rodger drove to a deli and shot a male student, and then began driving through the city, shooting pedestrians and hitting some with his car. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Don't usually source from FB, but ...

The problem we're having here is that an individual with the same surname and first name spelled Alex (not Alek) who lives in Richmond Hill is saying ABC, NBC and CBC have the wrong person.
