A six-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe.

The Ontario Provincial Police say LF, who went missing at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Thursday, has been found safe and in good health.

The boy was believed to be with his father, 41-year-old Ugo F.
No word yet on the status of his father.

MONTREAL—A Quebec man sought by police in the murder of his spouse and the kidnapping of his six-year-old son has been captured in Ontario, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Ugo F, 41, was arrested during a traffic stop, and his six-year-old son, LF, was recovered unharmed, said OPP Staff Sgt. Carolle Dionne.

F, who is from Saint-Eustache, north of Montreal, is believed to have criss-crossed a vast area of western Quebec since allegedly fleeing with his son

The witness claimed to have spotted F walking alone on a main street in Maniwaki, which is about 135 kilometres north of Ottawa.
That information led the local indigenous force, the Zitigan Zibi Police, to stop traffic and conduct a search of vehicles for Fredette, believed to have been travelling in the grey Honda CRV, in the hopes of recovering L.
But just as that was happening, Asselin, the SQ spokesperson, told reporters that new information had placed F in Napanee, which is 50 kilometres west of Kingston.

The authorities are saying the Honda CRV owned by Mr. Lacasse was taken from Lachute so approximately 24 hours ago. After Lachute the suspect travelled to Maniwaki and Rouyn Noranda. There is a hope that Monsieur Lacasse was left in one of those towns but they are populated areas and somebody by know should have seen him if he was merely dropped off there. He is a small man (5.6, 155 lbs) and he is 71 years old. I am really worried for him. Did Ugo have a gun? I am also not pleased with the Surete. I find their urgency and information flow lacking.

SQ said in the live broadcast that they hadn't put out the information on Yvon Lacasse earlier because they were worried about a possible hostage situation & didn't want to endanger him (further).

SQ & the media are reporting on his disappearance and asking the public to BOLO, but at the moment it seems to be overshadowed by the dramatic events surrounding L's disappearance & recovery. It's just not getting traction at the moment .

IMO, the SQ aren't doing too badly with communications; this all ended up going down REALLY fast this afternoon.
