Hoping that drivers will be very careful as they pass the LE on the road as they search for Mr Lacasse.
Also hoping they get to look in the usually overgrown grasses/weeds of medians between highways, someone could easily be overlooked if they were in there, imo, speculation.

On Monday, police trained in search techniques were deployed along Highway 117 between Mont-Tremblant in the Laurentians and Rouyn-Noranda in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Police said they didn’t want volunteers to help with the search along the busy highway because it’s too dangerous, said Constable Marc Tessier of the provincial police.

“The officers will be getting out of their cars and looking in the ditches to see if there is some indication that we can find Mr. Lacasse,” Tessier said.

In the picturesque Laurentian town of Gore, where Lacasse lives, the town’s mayor, Scott Pearce, described the missing man as “one of the friendliest, most polite community-minded people that I know.”

“He is at every event, at the community breakfast and the mayor’s St. Patrick’s Day dinner where we have Irish stew and Irish coffee,” Pearce said.

Lacasse is the kind of person who waves to everyone when they pass him, he said.

Ugo Fredette, suspect in Quebec Amber Alert, accused of second-degree murder in woman's death
Fredette, also arrested in connection with abducted 6-year-old, remains in hospital after suicide attempt

The charge was filed by Quebec prosecutors in Saint-Jérôme court Monday while Fredette remains in an Ottawa hospital after sustaining injuries in custody. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday if his condition permits transfer into Quebec custody.

Police said Monday Fredette was injured as the result of a suicide attempt. His condition has stabilized and he could be transferred over to the Sûreté du Québec as early as this afternoon.

oh no r.e the blood.

I think Ugo knew what he was doing since he has done so much research into missing persons cases. JMO

I'm trying to find another source for this info, i dont usualy use "les grands titres" webpage as they are not mainstream and usualy copy/paste other mainstream medias. I have doubts about their credibility.

Has there been any more info about the bearded guy? Are we to assume that UF made a specific trip to that area to meet up with someone? I know there were a lot of questions early on as to why he made that trip and then worked his way back south.

The bearded guy is still being looked for, as far as I know. SQ hasn't taken down the alert yet.

My main theory about why go all the way up north then turn back is, and it's all JMO:

- he may have wanted to be on remoter roads, rather than on the major highways, and planned to slip into Ontario that way. However at some point he became aware of the Amber Alert, or changed his mind, or panicked and turned back.

Perhaps he realized he might have been spotted and doubled back to gain time?

Several reports of the man sought in Abitibi
David Prince | QMI Agency| Published on September 18, 2017 at 19:06 - Update at 19:14

The police officers of the SQ received several reports in Abitibi of citizens who believed they had seen the man who had entered a hotel in Rouyn-Noranda with Ugo Fredette and was actively wanted.
The individual may have helped Fredette in his flight with a 6-year-old.

Ugo Fredette arrived at a hotel in Rouyn-Noranda on Thursday night, presumably after killing his wife Véronique Barbe and stealing Yvon Lacasse's car from Lachute. He was accompanied by the witness sought.
According to our information, Fredette would have booked under a false name, but would have paid with his credit card.

The Amber alert had been launched for about seven hours. Fredette stayed a few hours at the hotel before turning back south.

The investigators seek to determine the exact role this man would have played in the murder of Véronique Barbe, the disappearance of Yvon Lacasse and the flight of Fredette.

"It is not known at this moment when the individual came into contact with Ugo Fredette. This is what we are trying to determine, "said Lieutenant SQ, Martine Asselin.

Since the police announced that they are looking for this individual in their forties, the citizens of Rouyn-Noranda remain on alert. Numerous reports were sent to the police.

The man would have been seen hitchhiking in the direction of Montreal, sometimes in a housing in downtown Rouyn-Noranda or in a bar of dancers.

All police checks have been unsuccessful for the time being.

Too bad when don't have acces to his facebook friends list. That is the first place i would check.

Does anyone know which missing persons cases UF worked on, even ever so slightly?

Maybe we could look at those and see if there is anything in there that may have similarities with M. Lacasse's case, and get into UF's mind a little as if he was a harmless websleuther, and see if we can come up with scenarios of what he might have done to/with M. Lacasse.

There's Cedrika Provencher's case, and also a few on his FB that he was at least interested in... might be an idea?

Novembre 84 is a documentary about the wave of missing children that happened that year, including Maurice Viens, Sebastien Metivier and Wilton Lubin. Then he might of worked on another documentary called 7 Femmes, since it is publicized on his FB, don't know the name of the victims, most likely 7 women from cold cases of the 70's, i just watched the trailer for that movie, we see Lawyer Marc Bellemare in it, i don't recognize the family's victims in the trailer though. https://www.facebook.com/pg/7femmes/about/?ref=page_internal

Why go to Lachute? Is he familiar with that region? Police found remains in Lachute this spring in one or two barrel filled with concrete remember?

Murder suspect Ugo Fredette is in a coma, lawyer says

Pierre M. Gauthier said that, according to police, his client was taken to a hospital in Ottawa Saturday after inflicting injuries to himself while being held by Ontario police in the wake of his arrest on Friday. The lawyer said that Fredette was administered an anesthetic during his treatment but has yet to regain consciousness.

“He is in a comatose state and I haven’t heard anything since,” he said.
