I guess the new spin is that there are no kidnappers, but that Casey gave the child away willingly and now she is lying to protect that person. You can't just give your child away, can you?! Aren't there laws against that?!

I asked early on if FL had a document re: "Relinquishment of Parental Rights".

Several years ago I was involved in a MESS here in TX.....they do (did ??)indeed have such a *legal* doc.............just sign your name & your kid is gone......with very few questions asked.

The GJ is seated vs. convened in Fla, with the availability of being "specially convened" for high profile cases. I believe this is the case, mostly from experience, but also because the judge panel that turned down Baez bail reduction did so without an opinion, that is telling, imo.

Blink, could the internal private hold be the returning of DNA? I have no clue that is why I am asking.

Not if it has already been submitted to the GJ for consideration, and I think it was specific to the dog evidence, as at this point he could only request discovery relevant to the existing charges, not those have not been filed yet as it is an ongoing investigation.. That is actually a really samll burden on the part of the prosecutor at this point.

Speaking of which, isn't Casey due back in court on Friday (21st) on the original charges?

I thought about that at first. But Caylee was too old to just be given away and just "accept" her new family. Besides, by this point whoever illegally has her wouldn't be able to go outside with her for a second. They would have to know by now that this is really a missing child and come forward saying they didn't know!

Well since I have millions lying around...there is PLENTY for all of you. While I don't think you are nuts lol IMO a child telling their last name outright could be dangerous. BUT I'm so paranoid about someone abducting my child I glue them to me LOL. Again it's just my opinion..and it is your child so it's your right to do what ya like!

raying:MD - I too am a paranoid mom thinking that someone could take my child at any time. In Kindergarten this past year, it was severly stressed that these children know their full name, address and phone number. Another thing they stressed which I never thought of was their (AREA CODE) in case they are ever taken out of state. I feel comfortable now knowing my daughter know's her information. Now we move on to who strangers are. It scares her sometimes, but that's okay with me. When a car comes up the street, she walks on to the grass and stays by me.

No body does not prove that Caylee or any other missing person is alive. (Ask the Bolingbrook Police Department, Stacy Peterson's family, and her friends.)

Wonder if she'll be allowed to give "media interviews" like out in the driveway - like Cindy does when she comes home? This will most definitely be the "big show" in the coming week - no doubt. If BH or Baez doesn't allow her to talk - then we will all still be sitting here speculating some more.

If CA gets out, how in the world will the family and the BH work together if they constantly contradict each other? Lee and the rest of then want to stick to the ridiculous Nanny theory, as if that puts Casey in a good light. The BH has already said she she's a tweaker who misplaced her child, who now may have been sold; that she stupidly left her and knows who has her. In a CNN interview yesterday, BH guy lumped CA in with the 2% dark side/criminal population he's been dealing with for 10,000 years and knows well. He said they live in an alternate universe to ours, and think giving away your child for a few days and losing track of them is okay. Knowing this sort of person, he thinks her can get her talking. Cindy and Lee must love this. What a zoo.

Yes. It is not only the players changing the facts, but the filtering through the news media is also a grave concern. If the news media messes up this story this badly, it makes me wonder if anything I hear from them on any story -- election politics, international affairs, domestic mortgage crises, gas prices etc., is also so far off from the real story based on facts.

Yep,......much of the media these days seem to have their own *agenda*, & report only the *facts* (on anything) that support it.......

then again we also have many *reporters* these days that must be too busy to actually investigate many of the *facts* they are reporting.

I could be wrong, but I believe that even in giving up your rights to the child, you are still FINANCIALLY responsible for them until the reach the age of majority or are legally adopted. Until the child is legally adopted, I believe you are just giving up your rights to SEE and CARE for them on a daily basis. Can you just imagine how many parents would "relinquish their parental responsibilities" for their teenage monsters if it was that easy?! Maybe this is different for newborns...IDK?!

i realize that of course...i was just responding to the question...personally i dont think she is alive, but having no body is the main reason the anthonys can keep saying caylee is alive.

Yes. I have noticed some of this for some time, but this case brings that issue to a whole new level of "WOW!" and it isn't a good "WOW!" Accurate and reliable media is so fundamentally important to a healthy democratic government and if that is compromised or gone out of negligence or laziness, that's a huge news story all by itself.

Question: since Orange County Clerk of Courts is closed today will that have no bearing on Casey's possible release?

2nd, since many, including WSers, will lose power over the coming days, it would be great to have the daily recaps to be able to catch up when power does come back on eventually. Thousands already without power in SW Fla; who knows how long till it's back up.

I would say it would have a bearing since appropriate paperwork can't be filed with the court...unless it was all done yesterday and we haven't seen it posted yet.

I would love to see the daily recaps back myself. They were quite helpful!

OT: Glad that Fay is not raging and hopefully the impact will be minimal overall. Thinking about our members having to deal with being unable to be here is horrible!! The withdrawl is worse than the driving rain any day. LOL

LOL Where have you been?! We have been kvetching about this for a long time.

The fact checkers in the media have taken leave and been replaced with (as near as I can tell) kids out of college who can't spell, can't look up things that are not on the internet, and have no journalistic integrity. I used to think that teaching this key factor was of utmost importance, but now I see that teaching how far you can push the envelope to skirt the truth has become more the standard.
