Anyone know if the bear at the memorial was specially made to house a decedents ashes?

I think she went back for the bear just to keep up appearances. Just to show everyone that she was getting something for Caylee...Almost as to say "look everyone, everything is normal, I had to get Caylee's bear because she has been asking for it" But in reality I don't believe she wanted the bear for any sentimental reasons...It was simply Casey covering her butt...But that's just what I think.

If Caylee always slept with the bear I think your right.

Seems to me CA and KC had their favorite babies and bears. I cant imagine Caylee carrying around all these FAVORITE things. Not that Caylee didnt have special item...but it couldnt be all of this. Most of the photos Ive seen Caylee is decorated and given props...not a lot of candid snap shots...imo


futhermore...its odd to me that CA could even come close to pinpointing a missing bear....Caylees room was waist deep in that stuff.

I think that KC fits the profile of an Eraser Kill and that taking the bear was part of the "erase" from Cindy's life.

Valhall did an excellent 7-part series eraser killers. Very convincing and explains a lot of KC's behaviours.

I think you are spot on. KC swiped the bear to erase the sweet Caylee scent that CA found comforting...spiteful indeed.

Well, everyone knows where assuming will get ya, but for arguments sake, I will assume that 'Teddy' is the bear Caylee is clutching. He seems to be special to her.

There were a few bears (a couple more even in that pic). The bear Caylee is holding resembles the pic Jbean posted. Can't be positive they are the same bear, though. (Can't see the underside of the paws)

don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but the "teddy" of ca is "classic winnie the pooh"--- the other pic is a generic bear...but seems to me that they did a lot with Pooh---and there is a difference between disney pooh and classic...remember also her room was "classic"---Target also sellls classic pooh ......

I haven't posted on this case for awhile now but wanted to throw in my two cents on this topic.

I've often wondered if KC was applying chloroform to Caylee's stuffed toys that she slept with. Seeing the pic of the hanging bear on KC's laptop downloaded July 8, '08 was like a light went off in my head.......KC blames the bear for Caylee's death....is what I thought. Could it be possible the bear was taken to wash out the chloroform and then returned? If Cindy liked snuggling it, then KC (or possibly GA if he knows more than he's telling or helped with cover up) was probably worried that Cindy could suffer the same fate if she slept with it.

Don't flog me for this but I've always thought the duct tape was applied after Caylee died in order to keep her lower jaw from hanging open. Sorry to be so graphic but that thought/image is something that really bothers me.

During the interview with LE, certified on June 12, 2009 (pg. 68, line 15), she states that she noticed Teddy was missing upon her return from Universal.

Am I reading this correctly? I certainly did not read either of the entire documents from start to finish AGAIN, but I did read 10-20 pgs before and after the referenced pgs. I just need to quit sleuthing for the night and go to bed.

You are reading it correctly. In the LE interview Cindy says Casey told her Juliet came back to the house and compiled some of her belongings along with the bear (page 68). In the SA depo she says Casey told her on July 16th, the day she was arrested, that "she (Casey) had come back and gotten 'Teddy' herself because it comforted her while Caylee was gone" (page 225)

Lots of very interesting theories about the bear and all equally plausible. I think there is alot of psychological dynamics concerning the bear, ranging from sociopathic spitefulness to emotional turmoil.

The timing of taking the bear is very interesting along with the actions surrounding that day.

well, wouldn't there have had to be, if we go by the entemologist's time line, the car wasn't abandoned at the Amscot until the 27th or so, right? No, TL said he didn't smell anything that time when he was by the rear of the car, or any other time IIRC. No mention from the other roommates regarding the smell of her car while it was there IIRC. (We had just been talking about the teddy bear, did Casey have it at the Sutton Pl apartment, etc. Someone said wouldn't the roommates have noticed a teddy bear if she had had it at the Sutton Pl aparment when Caylee wasn't there, wouldn't they have thought it was strange, and I said well no one mentioned her car smelling either,and seems like that would be more strange/noticeable. So IDK.)

I don't think it is strange that nobody noticed the smell when the car was at Sutton Place. TL, George and the lady that worked at Amscott stood outside the Pontiac between June 23 & June 30 and all of them said they didn't notice a smell. The lady from Amscott was close enough to the Pontiac to look in through car windows.

Casey was was the one who DID notice and talk about it. But she was the only person to ride inside the Pontiac around then. She was also the one who was closest to the car and that dug into the trunk where the smell was coming from (getting cas cans). By July 15, the smell had festered. Simon. from the car lot, said it didn't smell good outside of the Pontiac. But, that it wasn't until they opened the car up that the smell became horrific.


As far as the Teddly bear goes, if Casey broke into the house and got the bear on July 2, she swiped it while Tony was out of town. During that time Casey was sleeping at RM's and Amy's. I think that with Tony gone and her car swiped, Casey had a meltdown. She'd spent the previous night, either in Tony's jeep or in bed with Andy. She was soon writing her diary of days. She uploaded the hanging bear cartoon. It was the worst of times and Caylee's teddy bear, smelling like Caylee and home, might have made her feel better.

Anyway, once Tony got back into town, if Casey stuffed the teddy bear into the leopard bag that Lee picked up, it's possible neither Tony or his roommates ever saw it.

ETA: There is another one but I can't find it. I think it's of Cindy and Brad coming out of court (or something). I bet it was taken around the same time the above picture was taken. It shows Cindy in stride and BC is right behind her in his wheelchair. It may be a better photo of the bear than the one above.

Not necessarily, I don't believe anyway. Like Jolynna I've always thought that the smell wasn't noticeable to anyone unless they were in the car early on. (thus the reason KC made up the squirrel story, just in case) Then of course after being closed up in the tow-yard where it sat in the hot Florida sun the smell became overpowering. We know of course that KC went to great lengths to make sure no one got near or inside the vehicle before it was abandoned at Amscot. I actually believe that the smell, or the fear of it becoming so bad someone would notice is the reason it was left there and not at the apartment complex. Thanks for answering though, I thought maybe I had missed something..not hard to do in this mess of a case!

In regards to the teddy bear, I guess I'm just not following why TL or any of the friends would find it strange or unusual for KC to have the teddy bear @ the apartment. I can totally see her making up some story of missing Caylee and having the bear with her for that reason. You know, mother of the year and all that BS. I do wonder what, if anything TL and friends thought about KC going so long without seeing her daughter, or did she pretend at times that she was going OR had been to see her? Then again, they are young, with no children, so they may have thought nothing of it. Even if they did, I'm sure KC had her next lie on the tip of her tongue. Who knows, so many questions that we will probably never know the answer to, at least not the truth anyway..

For the perception of a perfect, loving family... I realize some children have blankets and dolls and such they truly will throw a fit without, but there are children that don't (I have 5 myself). I did take toys where ever we went, but it didn't really matter which doll as long as there was a doll... sometimes it just sounds to me like Cindy attaches a lot of "lovey" emotion to "things" because she can't "attach" to people??? Not sure if I'm making sense or not

here is an old teddy bear picture from another thread. I think this is a bear that CA and KC carried around after KC's arrest? Not sure of the relation.

These all appear to be the same bear to me. The bear in all three pictures above has a tan tummy so it doesn't match the similar bear Caylee is holding in the stuffed animal Easter pic on the couch, imo.
It is definitely not the bear from the memorial. Could this bear be "Teddy"?

Could be the bear again at the bottom right corner of the picture at the picnic table? Can't see it well enough.

My question is, who is dressing and undressing the bear in the "mommy" shirt and moving it from room to room?
