They don't know when, where, how (Daugherty had promised in the opening statement "we'll tell you the how, the why, and the who"). All they have is the predetermined "who" and the confirmation-serving speculative "why".

The PT doesn't have to know all the gory details. They just need to know it happened.

They know when, because they know when Joey and Summer both stopped communications with the outside world. They know how, blunt force trauma by the hammer in the grave.

Most importantly, they know WHO and WHY.
