But didn't he claim to meet some of the Taliban ? Not in testimony but a missive to CJ? He thought they were nice guys.
MOO.

Lol at Taliban....

My youngest worked in Saudi for approx 2 months at a hospital. He never met any Taliban and while he was there I followed on U tube an American that was living there. She liked it there excepts for so many daily prayers.

Brian liked the people, they flew him to Dubai for the weekend, took good care of him while he was there. I have pictures. In fact when he was leaving and had cashed in his Saudi money, he needed some at the Airport and a stranger gave him money.

If CM said there were Taliban there he was lying and most likely never there. Can Felons get a passport?

#McStay - The jury has gone home. They will return Monday to continue their deliberations. They deliberated approximately 4 1/2 hours today.

So disappointed.:(:(:(
I would have thought they would have a GUILTY verdict by the end of the day.
MOO.

MOO but having checked out a few other crime forums (i’m a wee bit obsessed with true crime, lol) I always come back to WS. I just think the posters here are of a higher calibre. Especially on this case, we have so many amazing and informed posters (you know who you are!), so I don’t see it unreasonable that the guilty ratio is so high on the poll. I think the majority of posters have kept an open mind, have sleuthed this case for many years and it always comes back to Merritt unfortunately.

it's unfortunate that we didn't get any sort of read from yesterday. We don't have anything to compare it to. Were they the same with Maline? Imes? McGee? It's quite possible that they are taking their job much more seriously than the judge and the lawyers have in the last 5 months (of course, IMO).

I will be going back to listen later.. I might have to go back to some of Imes' CA, but it sure seemed like Imes argued that it happened in the home, Merritt cleaned up, even painted and this is how the bra got paint on it, Merritt had time to clean up, etc... today, Rodriquez says, we never told you it happened in the house, the defense says they were kidnapped, that's ridiculous, but then went on to say that Merritt may have taken them out of the house? It was a bit contradictory... I think the same with the defense lawyers though a bit too... McGee argued that it could have happened on the 5th blah blah blah... but then they go back to the 4th..... which makes sense to counter the State saying it happened on the 4th... and I guess giving them an option for the 5th?
My post was in response to this:
I agree with this. Unfortunately, charisma is incredibly important in trials, and I've thought she seemed defensive and not very confident. Also, she gives off a cold vibe and can't imagine her "connecting" with the jury. Trial attorneys should be very aware of this: They go through jury selection with a fine-tooth comb, hoping the find the right background, persona, etc., yet have a non-charismatic lawyer present closing arguments.

I think one can be a fantastic attorney, but the intangibles are so important in jury trials. A bad "vibe" can seriously affect a jury's decision, just as a juror who is overly emotional, unable to sift through garbage vs. evidence, etc. can cause a bad verdict.

I don’t think he’s that worried . He’s been sitting in jail since 2014 with no sense of urgency for his trial to begin. He’s been in prison before and he knows he has years of appeals ahead of him.
Would he like to get an aquital ? Sure, but he’s got a record going back to 1977 . He’s been a con man , a criminal , for much of his adult life. Prison is always a part of that . It’s a gamble .

Only thing is, if he's convicted, he's NOT going to be in GP. He'll be in PC/seg. That'll be a new one for him.

rsbm

Just curious, la2cabo, were you in the court yesterday (or today)?
Anyone else on this forum went to the court these last few days for the closing arguments?

He’s in some type of segragation now. It was discussed in reference to the visitor set up. He’s not allowed in the more open area where most detainees sit to talk to their visitors.

To me logic just prevails. The countless links in the "coincidence?" chain that neatly connect and lead straight to a certain point and person. Not a mob mentality, just an evaluation and preferred way of reasoning. Not saying that my reasoning is the only or even correct one. Just maybe more people here have similar reasoning to mine ;). Maybe my reasoning 's a dime a dozen, I am willing to own up to that.

I am going to predict they go to the judge with their decision next Thursday afternoon.
I predict they actually made a decision today but wanted to sleep on it over the weekend and didn't mind making everyone wait for the verdict since they spent more than 5 months listening to this convoluted trial. Hoping for their verdict Monday around noon.

But even if CM didn't kill them in the home, but he overpowered and kidnapped them from there, there would still be a need to clean up.

Thank you. Could you tell us who are there, as far as family members go? I'd think all/most the family members of JM and SM were there?
Merritt's daughter was the only one there to support him and possibly another man who didn't interact with Merritt's daughter, not that I saw anyway.

As for other family members... I'm comfortable saying that Patrick McStay will call me when the verdict is in.

I agree.
They want to sleep on their decision.:):)
Monday first thing.
MOO.
