There was a 7 year old boy missing in North Dakota in December of last year. After a long search, he was found in a window well. He had fallen in and couldn't get out. He was found soon enough that he only suffered frostbite. I hope that any window wells in this area have been searched.

Even tho some have received an amber alert on their phones, David is still not listed here: http://www.missingkids.org/amber

This is such an unusual circumstance. Generally we add AMBER ALERT to the title but I tend to wait until they are listed on the official AA site before doing so.

Mine too... [emoji17] I'm in Colo. Spgs.

My husband and I both Did Not receive an Amber alert yet. We are in Colorado Springs as well. I wonder why we didn't? We have received other kids amber alerts on our phones previously.

IMOO.

Maybe he's not listed due to what I posted (post #219), which was not meeting requirements?

Thank you. Yes, that's who I was thinking of. I just revisited his thread here on WS and saw that the case was presented to the prosecuting attorney or possible charges (months ago) but no update since then.

Back to David: I agree this use of the Amber Alert contradicts their normal protocol. For example AAs are not utilized every time a minor disappears. They're reserved for missing/endangered minors thought to be abducted (or traveling with) a specific person in a describable vehicle.

I understand extenuating circumstances, really, I do, but I cannot help but wonder whether this will open up a whole can of worms: Why this child and not that child? I hope it's successful, though, and David is found safe.

"Justin" Puckett. Way to go KKTV.

What an unusual case. In other cases people have begged for an Amber Alert to no avail because the case did not meet the criteria for the Amber Alert to be issued.

So, is LE not informing the public of information they have which meets the criteria for issuing the AA or who granted permission for this case? We know that a precedent has now been made and future cases will want the same exceptions made. I am not being critical, just curious and realialistic for the future.

It is hard to believe this little boy has not been found yet. My fear from day one has been that there was more to this than David wandering off. Hope he is found safely.

UPDATE 1/2/17 Posted at 3:46PM: On Monday January 2, 2017 the Aurora Police Department conducted a press briefing on the grounds of the Yale Elementary School located at 16001 East Yale Avenue. The following information was shared:

We confirmed missing 13 year old Fabian Xavier Rosales as found safe at a friends home.

We have been in constant consultation with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reference the issuance of an Amber Alert since New Years Eve. Due to the passage of time, the impending weather, and out of an abundance of caution and to leave no stone unturned, CBI has issued an Amber Alert today at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Today marks three days in our search in #FindingDavid.

Today officers continued to conduct thorough neighborhood canvasses, and interviews.

We are looking for residential and commercial videos. If anyone has video they believe would be beneficial to this investigation please call our tips lines at 303-739-1865, 303-739-1868 or 303-739-1870.

Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz and the entire command staff have been and continue to be heavily involved in the investigation.

The Aurora Police Department would like to thank our state, local and federal partners who are assisting us today, and have been since the beginning such as:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force (RMSSTF)
Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF)
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)
Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
Westminster Colorado Police Department
Aurora Public Schools (APS)

We would like to thank the citizens who have organized in assisting us in the search for David. Today we have deployed the NCMEC bloodhounds, and are asking citizens to stop their voluntary searching. This is in an effort to not interfere with the bloodhounds doing their jobs.

APS has been actively involved since the beginning of this investigation. They sent out alerts to parents of students at Dartmouth Elementary where David attends school. They have also prepared to have mental health professionals on hand to assist students, parents and staff as needed.

The Aurora Police Department will provide press briefings in the morning and evening from this point forward. We will notify everyone of the times and locations of these press briefings via our Twitter @AuroraPD and Facebook @AuroraCOPD accounts.

I have doubts that David will be found, as terrible as that sounds..
It seems as if LE is keeping this in a shroud of mystery. As for the 2 1/2 mile radius over 3 days, he could be so much farther than that is. When they do happen to reveal information (if there is any), it may be too late to expand the radius that searches are conducted in. Hopefully I am wrong.

update: @FBIDenver has 50 agents helping @AuroraPD #FindingDavid #9NEWS @9WantsToKnow

https://twitter.com/abolton9news

That's a lot of agents for a boy that wandered off is it not?

Marking my spot and have just jumped in here.

Was David autistic ? Curious as to the wording of his disappearance..." ...wandered off..."
Just that at that age -- most kids would have a plan of sorts ; as in going from point A to point B.
Two and three year olds will certainly 'wander off'. At six you'd think he had someplace he might have some sort of destination in mind.
And kids younger than David have certainly walked farther than 2 1/2 miles.
Will now backtrack and read earlier posts.

I don't know but I'm pleased so many resources are being utilised to find David. The missing persons cases involving young ones are awful. I'm praying for you David. Thanks for all your updates everyone.

Truth. A child like David could have traveled as much as 10 miles in day 1, lessening each day due to no food or water.

This case does not make sense. He's not hiding. It's been too long for that.

I wonder if he has truly been missing since Saturday or if maybe no one noticed he was missing until then. School has been on holiday for more than a week now.

As we approach 48 hours since little David went missing, I'm so worried for him. And so concerned that we might be here for a very long time discussing this case.

Not autistic but does have a minor learning disability that we don't have any other information on.

Are you serious ? Not disagreeing-- just had some thoughts I'll refrain from posting.
That sentence gave me some chills.

Makes one think of all possibilities. :(

At that age... it's not like a teen or young twenty-something ; who might come home late from a party to crash at home-- or maybe not get home at all.

If that was the case.. we'd be looking at some possible neglect.

Who doesn't keep fairly close tabs on their 6 year olds ? Mainly because at that age they're still depending on you for so much -- food, snacks, playing a game with them, going for a walk or just playing outdoors ; on and on.
Our own kids at that age weren't difficult, but I can still remember that they would 'pester' us for this or that reason. :)
Sometimes I miss those days.

But I hope he's found SOON. The longer this goes, the less hope there is.
