In this article it says that the Sheriff's Office does not believe there is a sex offender abducting children (then it adds, from the area). So if they don't believe they have a sex offender out there abducting, what kind of abduction could it have been?

I mean, I wish Dylan was at the North Pole with Santa Claus...having a big ole' time with mounds of presents and smart phones. But I think that after all this time, its a very small sliver of hope to which we all hold. It can happen. Maybe Dylan is being held somewhere. But given the time frame we have in place...and knowing Dylan and his love of texting and cell phone use...I feel we have to look starting after 8 pm on Sunday night. After that time, Dylan is never seen or heard from publicly again.

I think the sheriff's dept. is saying they don't believe there is a SO abducting children because they don't want to spread panic throughout the community. Sometimes they will say something like that to try to draw a suspect out, too. It's really hard to 'read' them sometimes, but often what they say is not what they really think. They don't want the public to know what they're thinking, in some cases, for good reason.

way to go ransom.

i found it entirely odd that her surname prior to redwine is her current fiance's.

i also don't think it's relevant to the case. perhaps.

jmo. imo. moo. et cetera.

I think it might be relevant to the case. If she was married to Hall in 91, and her oldest child with Redwine is now 21, then she went right from her marriage to Hall into another with Redwine. There was probably some overlap there.

So it must be very disconcerting to MR for him to see his ex returning to her ex. I bet they had a lot of bad history with each other. And now HIS sons are going to be living with that man. I bet it is very upsetting for MR to see that unfolding.

eta; So it may be the marriage was in 88. But it still stands that there would be lots of friction between MR and MH. imo

Well when did she divorce him? Or did he divorce her?

I wonder if Dylan, too, would have been estranged from his father as soon as he was of age, given the chance.

So very sadly and tragically he'll never have the chance to make this choice.. IMO someone took it upon themselves to in one fell swoop to take away everything from Dylan and take Dylan away FROM EVERYONE..

I don't even know how to word this, but the kids your wife/fiancé has from the guy she left you for is very... Well... I've seen it make the sanest man jealous beyond belief.

I assume bc of distance her fiancé is well accounted for. I would assume that would be an important elimination based on what I've seen with this scenario. NOT an accusation, not even a theory, just a hope that he has been well cleared.

I found a divorce case from 1989, Jefferson County. Not sure posting other wife's name is appropriate.

And the one who was left behind and has to raise the other man's child, too. It creates some bad blood for sure.

Is there a link or some other proof that Elaine was previously married to her fiance? Maybe I missed this somewhere.

By the way, she was in her very early 20's when she married MR.

With the search efforts intensifying, Nick said the most difficult part is the scrutiny involving his estranged father, with whom he had a fragmented childhood.

“I’m trying to find out who my father is as I try to deal with the loss of a brother,” he said.
========================================================

One of the reasons I find this very strange, is that Dad has described Dylan as being
'his whole world' and that seems odd, if you are estranged and distant from your other sons. jmo

Don't forget he said "Dylan WAS his whole world."

Elaine Redwine also questions why the boy's father, Mark Redwine, had no clothing to offer search teams and K-9 units.

Of course she does. Maybe he went missing in the same clothes he was wearing on the trip there. Some boys that age would wear the same clothes for a week if no one tells them to change, while others will change five times a day. If all he had was clean clothes in his backpack, it's possible that there was nothing with his scent on them.

Maybe overlap later, too?

I wish I could ask this in a more tactful, delicate way--is MR Dylan's biological father?

She also said in one interview, I think it was with NG that she didn't know about the clothes that had been left there.

good point.

then how did he have three other children prior to or during their marriage?

and, to address a prior post, the jefferson county records are from texas. elaine's from north carolina.

But I get the feeling that MH wanted that job, of raising the boys. Cory seems to like him very much. Remember when he said that Dylan knew he could call us, me, mom or MIKE, if he was scared and needed anything.

I don't think MH was angry about having the boys with him at all. He is choosing that situation, unlike MR. That situation is being forced on MR.

(I don't think we are supposed to be investigating Mom's past...) JMO

Elaine S. Hatfield married Michael L. Hall in El Paso, Co. Colorado; March 25, 1988

The Groene siblings (Shasta/Dylan) - Elizabeth Smart - Jacob Wetterling - I'm sure there are MANY MANY other similar disappearances/abductions by strangers.

Steven Stayner, Jaycee Dugard........
