Okay, so I thought this was me misunderstanding earlier, because I thought I read that same thing, so I was scrolling through old posts trying to figure out what I misunderstood.

Can someone clarify this: Is it indeed the case that the K9s traced a scent to a school, then to her backpack, then back to a school? Or from a school, to her backpack, then back to a school?

Handlers and dogs were seen walking to the nearby school from the location of the backpack, and back again. They were also seen walking down several other blocks. That is ALL we know, we do NOT know if they were indeed following a trail scent left by the abductor, or just seeking out if there was one and being guided by the handlers.

Hello folks. I have followed your site in the past, on the Kyron Horman case and now on the Jessica Ridgeway case. I'm in Colorado and my son is just a little older than Jessica and attends a Jeffco school. This is my community. I'm sure everyone is reeling from the horrible news we just heard. For every parent who is scared and feeling paranoid remember:

- These are crimes of opportunity.
- Do not allow your children to walk somewhere without an adult escort. This is when children are most at risk.
- Do not allow your children to go off on bike rides where they are out of sight.
- Take reasonable precautions (lock your doors & windows)
- Teach kids to run away from anyone asking for help to find a "lost puppy," "lost kitten," or anyone who wants directions.
- Teach your kids to never approach anyone in a car who stops, unless they already know that person.
- Don't live your life scared and paranoid and don't put that burden on your kids. Safety, yes. Paranoia, no.
- If you are paranoid and feeling scared, purchase one of the GPS tracking devices and put it on your child, their backpack or on their wrist.

Im not sure about other counties in CO...but in my county, this upcoming week is fall break....which means LOTS of kids will be outside playing....

so this is a very very good reminder!

The two I'm recalling are:

1) In her neighborhood, the dogs went from - the park? - to her school and then back out somewhere in the neighborhood.

2) By the backpack, they went toward a school.

Somewhere earlier in the thread (sorry no link) someone explained that we don't know if they were actually Tracking a scent or if the handlers walked there and back with the dogs to see if they picked up a scent. So there isn't enough info to know if it was signifigant or not.

Please encourage your schools and communities to NOT ALLOW outdoor trick or treating this year. The school gym or community center with lots of parents around running booths or a "trunk and treat" cookout at the school parking lot....the idea of dozens of kids running around in all directions to all kinds of houses is just toooo scary!

R.I.P Jessica I am so very sorry that your ten years with your family and friends were tragically cut short by a monster. The monster cannot hurt you anymore and will be caught and punished. Praying for your family and friends who are suffering unimaginable pain. You will not be forgotten.

I'm way behind again but something keeps bother. I know that in at least 1 other thread (missing lottery winner) the suspect in his death actually showed up here and posted under possibly multiple hats. <modsnip>. How is that sort of situation handled?

I would assume that given the very nature of this forum the owners would want to cooperate with LE in any way possible but what does that entail? Would LE be made aware of the posts without any requests from them or would LE need to contact Tricia first and request info on the posters account? Is there anything that would require a warrant vs Tricia just being able to release those details?

It just really freaks me out that somebody could be hiding in plain sight here and using our thoughts and theories to hone their own skills. I know that is possible in any given case but I'm getting big red flags all over the place here.

I do not know if this has been answered, at least not that I have seen.

They are going to take a picture of the command center ,one that will show what they are doing but yet not compromise the investigation.

With Halloween coming up, parents please DO NOT let your children trick or treat without you. Each year, I see kids (pre-teens and sometimes even younger) trick-or-treating without adult supervision. Not a good idea.

I can only hope the case moves as fast from here as the Jorelys Rivera case did. Plus, if it ended the same, that would be a plus. However, I think we are dealing with a whole different type of monster here.

I just cannot imagine the kind of evil it would take to do something like this. Blows my mind. I look forward to him being apprehended, wherever and whoever he is. They are coming for you, sooner or later.

so immensely true .... and they are all wearing purple ribbons and even a purple shirt ..... God Bless their souls and God Speed on catching the predator of such a heinous crime!!!!

My prayers are with the community as well as the family and friends of Jessica. To have something of this nature thown on your doorstep and having to keep present in mind at all times is indeed unsettling for all. My prayers for you will keep until this monster is caught. ((((hugs))))

Well, we live about 7 miles from where Jessica lived (past tense, ugh) and my 13 year old daughter went to school with her. It is too close to home...

My daughter has begged me to let her have some more freedom and this past summer, I relented, as long as she was ALWAYS with friends, she could run around the neighborhood. She found her first crush and later said that it was the best summer of her life because "I finally got my freedom".

Well, that has all come to a screeching halt. She is outside, no more then 10 feet from the front porch and her friends can come over here. Somehow our living room is not as attractive as being away from the house but I am hoping for some really cold temps now so all the kids stay inside and get driven to school.

This has completely rocked my world.

i understand this case does not resemble JBR -- but so close and so EVIL. I just feel such evil hovering over us now.
