I think simply that they're swabbing everyone in her neighborhood as well as RSO's tell me they're trying to match unknown DNA found somewhere.

How do we know that police have DNA for the person that murdered Jessica?

they do have Jessica's killer's DNA. 99% sure of it.

What makes you so sure? Curious. My concern is that he was OVERLY careful about his DNA because of leaving the body and backpack so visible. IF they have his DNA, then I guess we can assume it's not a known sex-offender, right? Otherwise they could trace him, correct?

How long would it take to get a court order for a suspect's DNA...and then to obtain the DNA profile for comparison to a crime?

He was also special guest on Tricia's radio show tonight.

He wrote a long post (think it was on the last thread) about open spaces being connected to Jessica's home, the area of the backpack, and the location of the body.

Well, none of us will ever view "open spaces" in the same way again....

As far as I know, there has been no information about DNA evidence having been recovered.

They could call a judge and get a warrant within an hour. Not sure how long it takes to run the test to create the profile, but I think it's less than 48 hours.

Well, it seems pretty official to me. It's the Official Westminster Police Facebook page with a posting by the Official Westminster Police "poster".

"Westminster PD The FBI has been able to rule out the Wyoming abductor in our case."

By the way, one does not have to have a Facebook account to read at that page.

"Ruled out" is a strong statement; stronger than not believing the two abductions to be related. I think they must have some physical evidence, or were able to verify absolutely where the other perp/suspect was on Friday morning the 5th.

According to his facebook message Speer said that he was leaving on vacation on September 28, 2012, destination unknown..

a couple things about his theory that don't connect for me:

* if it was a "crime of opportunity" and if he simply "snapped", how is it that it was also not random and was well thought out and planned in advance

and how is it that he would have also been fantasizing and repressing this for a long time?

and why is it that he would likely do it again soon? does his GF/wife go away frequently on weekends, as was suggested, to give him more opportunities? does he have Fridays-Sundays off?

if the way the remains were transported and found was simply due to convenience or necessity (for carrying and concealment), is this perp engaged in a sexual motive or a pedophiliac motive prior to the act that causes the remains to be found this way?

If they are saying ruled out I am assuming there is some good reason for doing so. Either a rushed DNA test or some sort of hardcore proof he could NOT have done it (like, proof he was in an entirely other state at the time).

Everyone is saying how creepy this guy is, but what is creepy to me is he seems so absolutely normal. I have friends like him who dress like him photograph stuff like him type like him. If a friend had sent me his photography I would be like, oh cool. He should meet with ______ (one of my friends).
I wish monsters looked like monsters. Life would be easier.

To get a court order for something like that would take no time. You walk into a judges office, show the evidential reasons you need the DNA and drive over and swab.

yes, this is what I think. it's not an RSO that's in the database.

this validates the theory that he's an ordinary person - neighbor, friend, husband/boyfriend, employee, father, etc....

This perp hasn't been in custody that long...what, 24 hours or so? Could we have him ruled out due to DNA within that time frame? Maybe the "rule out" is based on something else....

I don't think he just snapped but that's my opinion. Some of these guys if you read up on the ones caught well they have trouble sexually and it takes something sick to get them excited. I'll leave it at that.

A couple of days ago, I was reading up about famous serial killers. I'll try to find that link & post it tomorrow. Some of the reasons why these horrible crimes happen are just _ _ _ _? I can't even describe it. smh

I hope that JS was quickly ruled out because they have strong evidence against someone else.
