It seemls like Kara's case was generating more interest when the dominant narrative surrounding it was "lingerie model goes missing." Her family & friends understandably came out to speak out that Kara is much more than a lingere model - she is a daughter, friend, sweet girl, etc. I understand why they thought painting her as a lingerie model would hurt her case & public interest and sought to show us the real Kara.
However, I think this case got more attention when people were focused on her as the sexy, naive girl who did lingerie photo shoots because she wanted to be a model. Sex sells and it seemed to generate some interest in the case.
Now that her family & friends have pushed that the media & public think of her as a missing young woman rather than a missing lingerie model, I think interest has been lost in her case. "Lingerie Model Missing" is much more of a headline than "19 year old girl missing" and would draw more eyes onto the case & have more people looking for Kara. When I listened to the radio show, I was so glad they were painting Kara as more than a lingerie model.
However, this tactic almost seems to have backfired in terms of getting attention for her case. I am very surprised about that. It seemed like the right thing to do. I am surprised by the drop off in news & updates about Kara since the "lingerie model" business has been dropped.
KARA NICHOLS UPDATES:
We met today with investigators and sadly there is still not much information to go on, we do however know one thing, someone out there knows what happen to our daughter and we can only continue to ask them to do the right thing and call police.
Michelle Bart and her team from the National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation will leave this weekend for Colorado; they will be attending a national human trafficking summit on Monday and will be representing our family in interviews with local media in the Denver area. Human Trafficking is a possibility into the disappearance of Kara, although not absolute, it’s probable and we need to explore every avenue that will lead us to Kara.
A new web address (that leads to this page) is www.karanichols.org – please share with everyone you know, especially those in Denver and Colorado Springs’ areas.
Many of you continue to post tips and suggestions on the site; we thank everyone for your support! Please, we cannot reiterate enough, send all your suggestions and tips to police at findkaranichols@gmail.com or phone the
Sheriff’s office at (719) 390-5555.
As for the suggestions on fundraising and ground search efforts, we thank you for the advice but those items are not a need right now and any efforts in these areas will be organized and directed by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and/or NWCAVE. Please we cannot express it enough, if you see or hear of anyone doing fundraisers, see other fliers than those on this site or anyone issuing tip lines that do not go to detective Porter, please let us know.
Thank you for your support and prayers and we hope to have some new information to share soon.

No news on Kara?
Per the Find Kara FB page: They said that they invited the all Denver media to come on Monday and meet with Kara's parents and no media chose to sit with them and talk.
http://www.facebook.com/HelpUsFindKaraNichols
That is so sad if it is true. I know her parents do not want her known as the lingerie model but, for sake of publicity, maybe they should run with that angle. Media wants a juicy story and sadly regular Kara is just like all the other missing people.
The parents have shown no interest in being honest. Don't blame the media for wanting a juicy story. Maybe they just want a true story, and not the fantasy that the parents want to spin.
Despite the invitation to all local Denver media to meet with the Nichols this past Monday, sadly no reporters chose to sit down with Kara’s parents or any of the hundreds of experts from around the state at the Colorado Human Trafficking Summit.
