It seems like it's time for Mom and the kid to get an identity change or something if the guy doesn't get locked up this time.

ummm, isn't 72 a wee bit old to be getting into this sort of trouble?! good grief! you don't want to possibly spend the rest of your life in prison because of a really really dumb decision your adult son made.

i'm also shocked they made it to canada! sheesh, i thought they were going to go far... but not CANADA!

i'm so glad this lil guy is back home with his mama. i hope she recovers (physically and mentally) soon. this is such a crazy ordeal to go with. i'm thinking it's time to move somewhere she and the baby can't be found again!

I posted yesterday that I thought they should find the grandparents and lock them up until they spilled the beans. I thought if he hid them before and probably had to support that grown son while he hid, he'd do it again. Not sure if Monty has a mom there.
I am so glad they found Luke safe, but I doubt this will stop. If this man had behaved, he would have had visitation from the start and could see his son. He is the one to blame for it all! Poor baby Luke.

YEA ! Now hopefully a judge or LE can compel this man through force or otherwise to NOT swipe his child and run off with him again. Mom should have all the ammo she needs to stop this IF for some reason he is not in jail for a long time. They should put him in jail for 15 yrs, until the baby is 18 !~ That would end it .

Brandon Police Department's family services Sunday but could return home as soon as Monday. Brandy Turner is unable to go to Canada to retrieve the boy because she does not have a passport.

It wasn't the first abduction that Monty Turner and his family members were involved in, Brandy Turner said. The first incident took place 20 years ago, she added, but she did not elaborate on the details of the previous incidents.

"This was a family affair," she told the media of Luke's disappearance. She said her two stepdaughters have lived in fear of Monty Turner for 15 years.

So mom doesn't have a passport, so would be surprised if Luke had the right papers with him, although perhaps dad and his family 'forged' documents to line them up when Luke was with them last time.

Well, it was already clear that this guy had problems....and was aided and abetted by his family, but based on 'previous' incidents I am sooo thankful that Luke is safe and will be back with his mom shortly!

ETA: There is a lovely video, at the link above, of mom giving the great news that Luke has been found and that she's talked to him. The pure joy is there for all to see. ;)

What a cutie! But you know what....... I can see the weight of the world in his little eyes. Don't people ever think about how much they are scaring kids with their idiotic antics. This boy needs some peace and quiet for a LONG time with no interference.

Both the father and grandfather need to be locked up for good! Monsters, both of them. Sounds to me like Luke is being used as a pawn by the father against the mother. He doesn't deserve to be the father of a child!

Brandon is my hometown of sorts...lived there over 20 years ...raised my kids there....so this came as a shocker & was of course headline news around here *I'm now 2 hrs from there*....

Here are some of the Canadian news articles so far about this.....SO glad they found the little guy & he'll be back with Mom!

"Hiebert said the man and boy arrived in a red-coloured truck with Missouri licence plates, although the man had a Colorado driver's licence.
He said both looked tired, but the boy appeared to be fine."

I've lived in Brandon over 20 years as well. I got the text of the Amber Alert on my phone about mid morning Sunday and thought it was a shame that I don't get pics with the amber alert texts. Looked it up online and, just before heading over to MIL's for a late lunch, went to the McDonald's behind the motel to grab a quick coffee. Over lunch we discussed the possibility that this little man and his father/abductor could have made it to Brandon already considering the time difference between his reported disappearance and when I received my amber alert notices. It was a real shock to catch up on the news in the evening and find that he was, in fact, here and he had been so near. We live near the police service and had noticed the increased police presence and activity, now we know why! So very happy this little sweetheart is safe! I'm not surprised that they were able to cross into Canada. I'm thinking it's because Amber Alerts are first issued in the State/ Province where the abduction takes place and then, if necessary, officially extended to other jurisdictions. I'm guessing the border guards may not even have been aware of an amber alert in regards to Luke until after they crossed
Anyway, here are some local links in regards to the case, in case y'all are interested. :)

Riiiiiight.
Um, if you don't have much money, how do you plan to live in Winnipeg while waiting for the next hearing?

"A Colorado mother says she feels relief after being reunited with her 3-year-old son, who was allegedly abducted and taken to Canada by his father."

"Luke Turner sat on the lap of his mother, Brandy Turner, at a news conference Tuesday night after arriving at Denver International Airport."

"Monty Turner is accused of taking Luke on Saturday from the home the boy shares with his mother in Longmont. A court order prohibits Monty Turner from having any contact with his son or Brandy Turner, his estranged wife."

If he had money when he went in to Canada, he should still have it. He didn't have time to spend much. If he had none, that shows he is off his rocker to go to another country with no means to support them. He also abducted this child on a bicycle, so a car wasn't needed to get to another location. The fact that grandpa seems to think this behavior is ok, and will help hide this child, is enough to deny bail. This child needs some peace and the only way he will get it, is for grandpa AND dad to be locked up for a loooong time.
