Brandon Police Department's family services Sunday but could return home as soon as Monday. Brandy Turner is unable to go to Canada to retrieve the boy because she does not have a passport.
It wasn't the first abduction that Monty Turner and his family members were involved in, Brandy Turner said. The first incident took place 20 years ago, she added, but she did not elaborate on the details of the previous incidents.
"This was a family affair," she told the media of Luke's disappearance. She said her two stepdaughters have lived in fear of Monty Turner for 15 years.

So mom doesn't have a passport, so would be surprised if Luke had the right papers with him, although perhaps dad and his family 'forged' documents to line them up when Luke was with them last time.
Well, it was already clear that this guy had problems....and was aided and abetted by his family, but based on 'previous' incidents I am sooo thankful that Luke is safe and will be back with his mom shortly!
ETA: There is a lovely video, at the link above, of mom giving the great news that Luke has been found and that she's talked to him. The pure joy is there for all to see.

Um, if you don't have much money, how do you plan to live in Winnipeg while waiting for the next hearing?
An American man who kidnapped his son from his estranged wifes home in Longmont, Colo., and was found with the boy in a Brandon motel has been sentenced to 36 years in prison, a Colorado newspaper reports.
