I think that he really, really did think that he would get away with it and the police would believe his story that she ran off with the children. I am sure that he thought that they would not even look at his phone.
Remember that the day after they disappeared, he was talking to his friends about putting the house on the market. Just before he was arrested.
He was blindsided by it and by then it was too late to scrub his history.
Isn't the first person LE looks at the spouse in a case like this with a missing wife and kids? And wouldn't one of the first things they would go over with a fine toothed comb the spouse's phone??

I don’t think he will be offered a plea deal. I think he’s going to trial, and the prosecution will seek the death penalty. That’s just what I think.

Do you live in Weld County? It's a very conservative county compared to the rest of the state, from what I hear. Do you agree?

I am not sure that he knew that and thought that they would believe him, even after all their belongings were still in the home.
They had his phone with his texts and he was still denying having even 1 extra marital affair.
The man is stupid.

Haven’t been able to keep up! Has there been any significant updates since he wasn’t arrested and stated that Shanann killed the girls (yeah right )

I'd like to read the link cause I'd be fascinated /appalled if a man who drops his children in tanks of oil, has already got paying supporters a fortnight later.
Because she made him do it by forcing him into a life that he didn't want.
Some people always blame the woman. A girl is raped. They ask 'but what was she wearing?'
A child is killed by his father and they ask 'Where was the child's mother?'
A wife is bashed up by her partner, they ask 'What did she do to provoke him?'

I think he's guilty, too. However, I am not convinced it was planned ahead of time. I'm open to various scenarios at this point. With that said, if he did, for example, get into an argument with his wife and kill her, he then made a conscious choice to kill his children. That's premeditation.

One thing I read in my new issue of People magazine this evening struck me: "Text messages and search histories were not deleted."

Now, this guy might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but c'mon. If he deleted SM a week prior, he wouldn't have the sense to delete his search history or texts ahead of time if he was planning on murdering his family? This points strongly to unplanned IMO.
What if he searched for effects of oil on decomposition? I''m NOT saying he is what he searched as we don't know what he searched, but neglecting to delete search history could simply mean he neglected to delete search history.

It's another piece of the baffling puzzle why he didn't cover more. Deleting searches and texts could have been done immediately after typing them and only takes a second. Was he going to get to the task later? Or was he really convinced he committed the perfect crime?

I can’t imagine thinking your phone & computer wouldn’t be searched if your wife & children went missing.

But, if he was just completely void of any sense due to arrogance or whatever, why did he scrub his SM presence? Had to be another reason. Hmm...

They won’t indicate TOD per se, but if the girls were dead long before SW, hairs would begin to show signs of decomposition, which would disprove the claim that she killed them.

I wonder if crude oil would change the hair ring to a degree that it would be comparative to Shanann's? (even if Bella & Celeste died hours earlier)?

TIA

Edit: Realize now the hair was found in truck, before Bella & Celeste were put in the tank.

I also thought it was an odd choice of word. I reckon it's what they call a "malapropism"
He mixed up the words indication & inclination. IMO only

I definitely think it is a regional malapropism, his North Carolina coming out. I spent a fair amount of time in the South, and I didn't even notice it and I knew exactly what he meant.

ETA: I'm telling on myself. He's combining "indication" with "inkling" to get "inclination." I actually thought he was using "inclination" correctly, and I had to look it us to determine the correct meaning.

See the following link, page 342-- Redirect Notice

By the way, I'm not that familiar with the North Carolina accent, but I know that when those of us from the South are trying to charm someone, we will often slip into a drawl. I'd have to go back and listen to CW's interview to see if I can hear it.

Sigh, back to square one.

Not really.

The code section he's charged with says that a person commits the crime if they terminate a pregnancy unlawfully with the intent to do so.

It becomes a class 2 felony if the person dies while terminating the pregnancy.

In this case, CW terminated the pregnancy using murder of the mother as the method. The state is alleging that he killed her in order to end the pregnancy. I think that's true. He didn't want that third child.

Of course we mostly all believe he also killed her because he didn't want her anymore. But as long as at least part of the reason he killed her was to end the pregnancy, the charge fits.

So the DA is alleging: He terminated the pregnancy by killing the mother. He intended to terminate the pregnancy when he strangled her. Because she died during his attempt to terminate the pregnancy via strangulation of the pregnant mother, he can be charged with the crime.

It's a bit awkward but it works.

Could he have simply made it private?

Think, emphasis think, that it had gone, not switched to private. (So deactivated or deleted the FB)
IDK when his Instagram was deleted but his twitter was deleted much later, after the killings.

Got his instagram cache link somewhere if you haven't seen it already.
