Wow. Just wow. But so possible.
somewhere it was noted by a neighbor that it did not look like the girls' beds had been slept in.
He prob taught them that cover up with the sheet game (cuz really little girls do not tuck a baby doll in that way) to do with daddy so he could smother them and not have to see them and they would not make a fuss. monster. Tehn it's not so much hassle for him...cuz we all know it's all about him.

And if they all just "disappear" he gets out of all the responsibility, has a clean reset on life and gets everyone's sympathy, donations, attention, etc...like the great guy that is thinks he is should get.

Problem was..he couldn't BS his dad and he caved like the coward that he really is.

Early childhood intervention. Early on services, better training for CPS workers, teachers, school admin to recognize risk factors and signs of childhood trauma exposure. Training on how to best interact with children, how important it is to show children empathy and love, how important ones role could be in a child's life who otherwise may not have the nurture and attachment at home. Tailoring parenting classes and services to provide parents with risk factors of furthering the cycle of abuse or trauma. The intervention comes much earlier than waiting for a killer to seek treatment.
I am an early childhood intervention teacher. I can tell you NO ONE listens too us.....Not DSS, not the police, not the parents, not our administrators. I am so tired of it being kicked back down to us!!! Parents need to start being parents and step up their game. Enough is enough! We see children daily, as young as 3 and 4, where we look at each other and just know. But until it gets to about middle school, pass after pass is given. Listen to educators NOW! Not THEN!

When was the last time we've heard of a baby killer killed in prison? Have we ever in the last ten years? 20?

It's a fallacy that people usually face justice at the hands of fellow prisoners. They are typically assessed and housed in units where they won't face too much danger.

Exactly, this guy is going to be protected initially anyway. I don't know the current stats about prisoner murders due to cases like this. I will take your word it is a fallacy.

It was August 9th

Ok but it still doesn't fit the timeline? SW was home on the 9th with CW and the girls. She left for Arizona on the 10th and came home on the 12th?

This is very disheartening to learn. So much work goes into getting these programs and teachers in place to help these kids and what you are saying your work is going ignored. I shouldn't be surprised and I guess I am not really, but it still sucks that this is the case! I admire you for what you do and keep up the good work no matter how discouraging it might be. I may be pollyanna sometimes but I do believe a good teacher can make a difference in a kids life. Sometimes it is as simple as getting positive feedback. I agree with parents having to step up their game. We see evidence of this every day in the news. Sadly some younger people today have a very entitled mentality and for them it is all about me me me. That doesn't leave too much room for a child's needs.

I am not sure of his history. I was speaking to the benefit of research into why/what leads to killing. It isn't just clinical treatment that is important. We now understand the importance of early childhood attachment and how we can provide the nurture someone needs even if we aren't the caregiver..really fascinating research and results that is applicable to what any/everyone can do to reduce the negative impacts of childhood trauma on society overall. Moo.

I agree. Even if he had seen a therapist, there is no guarantee he would have been diagnosed properly. Some of these folks are capable of fooling the most experienced mental health professionals.

And that's if they even go.

Oh I do believe that there are often deep roots to how someone like this develops. Childhood traumas. Yes. Annihilating, emotionally abusive parents? Yes. Neglect? Hate? Loss?

But having dealt with several personality disordered people both in my personal life and professionally, the ability to actually get disordered people and families help is slim in many cases, if the parents have character disorders.

They never take responsibility and are suspicious and paranoid. They don't have good mental health treatment outcomes.

And much of the disorder in such families would never come close to what is necessary for social services to force services. In fact, much of it isn't close to being on anyone's radar. It's subtle stuff. Like Cindy Anthony alternately stating her daughter was perfect and arrogantly denying that she ever did anything she was accused of as a child, and then being miserably demanding with her daughter and hyper critical. That juxtaposition creates personality disorders.

Or Scott Peterson. How could the subsconsious attitudes and emotions that indicated to him as an infant that any imperfection would cause rejection, how the heck would anyone even realize that was going on, in that seemingly Brady Bunch middle class family?

It's a dream, IMO, that we can fix these families or these people before evil occurs.

But of course that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

I wonder if he watched as his children were gasping for air as he strangled them.

His lawyer wants DNA samples taken at autopsy. I wonder if they'll be able to retrieve any from these little girls he dumped in the gas and oil tanks.

Wasn't this stuff supposed to be sealed until Monday?

I wonder what DNA that attorney is talking about?

Their paternity?
Sexual assault?
Contact DNA on the bodies?

He wanted a brand new start -- no big house or car payments -- no more Shanann -- no more family -- now that he was lookin' so good, he wanted to get "out there" again.

Ten years ago: Christopher Vaughn kills his family | The Herald-News

Christopher Vaughn. He was my first thought (two days ago) when reading Shannon and her kids were missing but left everything behind. You're right he wanted a fresh start. Wipe the slate clean and bankruptcy wasn't an option a second time......

It will be interesting to see how this case parallels the Vaughn family case. I won't be surprised to learn he is involved with another woman and had a plan for an entirely new future which did not not include his wife and daughters.

His statement about 'living a nightmare' was a dead give away......

On average, how long does it take in Colorado from charges to trial? I can count on it being about 5 years here in IL, but I don't recall the average in CO.
