I’ve been looking up some information on oil tanks. It seems the only openings on the tanks are called thief hatches where you can go and take samples of the crude oil or whatever is in the tank. According to what I am finding, these openings are very small - some only 8-12 inches. This could be one of the reasons the girls were placed in the tanks and a challenge to recover and why SW was left in a field. I haven’t seen any other openings on the tanks that could be accessed.

Here is an UNRELATED YouTube video that shows someone taking oil samples and you can see how small the openings are. I don’t know how else he would have gotten them in a tank??

Will prosecutors seek death penalty?

Could Colorado prosecutors seek the death penalty against Chris Watts?

--law enforcement source told 9Wants to Know that Chris Watts confessed to killing his wife and two young daughters; however, previous cases have shown that this does not necessarily mean that he will be found guilty should he stand trial.
(confessions have been suppressed if the suspect was coerced or not read their rights.)

For Colorado prosecutors to seek the death penalty, what’s known as “statutory factors” are required, according to Robinson.
--killing a pregnant woman when you know she’s pregnant: that’s death penalty eligible,”
--killing a child under the age of 12 also qualifies for the death penalty,
--as well as “any first-degree murder that’s committed under particularly heinous or grave or cruel circumstances.”

Chris Watts pleaded for his family's return hours before his arrest - CNN
Investigators have not revealed a possible motive or other details in the case. A judge sealed the arrest affidavit, which might have provided that information.

will the arrest warrant def be released tho? It seems like all this stuff is different all over the place

that is borderline stuff

there is some histrionic stuff as well moo
I'm 95% with you on everything. not just quoted post.

I have also thought borderline. They are some of the most difficult for therapists to work with and are sometimes rejected by therapists for how 'needy' (for lack of better word) they are.

Histrionic is... probably really hard to recognize in a series of stills. IMO

but at this point how do they know how long they had been in there -- they just located him

and there has to be some reason why they , from the beginning they did not just state he confessed - it remained alleged for a long time

Maybe they have security video from the company he worked for.

Is it asking too much to hope and pray that those precious little girls were given sleep medication to put them out before strangling them?
I have been so so so so hopeful that we will find out his children were sedated first. I have been telling myself that he sedated and then smothered them but now with it being likely that he strangled them (ugh) I hope they were completely and utterly knocked out by some type of heavy sedative. Isn’t it crazy when we begin to hope that a certain type of murder has taken place over another one? Crazy and sad that we have to be talking about this at all.

I feel icky even speculating that Shanann was anything but a victim. There is currently no proof that anyone other than CW committed these crimes. I mean, once it goes to trial (if it does) and if they try to use that as a defense, that's one thing. But right now I am getting uncomfortable with the theories on her mental health, her attitude, whether she may have killed the kids, etc.

If I were to speculate on what defense his attorney would put forth, it would be that the children died accidentally from eating peanuts while on his watch, and SW went into a rage when she learned about it. He then killed her in self defense. Outlandish, maybe, but look at what Jose Baez was able to do with Casey Anthony. Everyone thought that her being convicted was a slam dunk.

If the autopsies can show the babies were strangled, that type of defense goes out the window.

For many, it was the most startling twist in a case full of mysteries: A day before he was accused of their murders, Colorado dad Chris Watts stood outside his home and pleaded for the safe returns of his wife and two young daughters, who had seemingly vanished a day earlier.

I am confused about why it keeps getting reported that way. If he killed everyone murderers dont typically tell

there are countless times where they go out on searches make pleas to the public

why is what happened here so startling -- its the norm as opposed to sterling imo

does this strike you guys as odd

Shanann’s body was found Thursday on the property of an oil company where Chris had worked.

I would think at this point in time the sentence would be where Chris worked.

maybe this a part of the financial issue but that also is really not confirmed that they were in financial issues currently

most reference a bankruptcy 3 years ago - mentioning selling a house is not the same as saying were selling

speculation

80k VIP means she has sold 80k in product. The commission is 4% at that level. So, $3200.

If she was remaining in that category monthly, her downline would have to continue to sell 80k/month. Often that causes people to go into debt to reach that goal themselves.

I based my comment off of this: https://media.le-vel.com/Documents/20171010_VIP-RankAdvancement_Sheet2.pdf

If you read their entire compensation guide she was likely getting a lot more than 4% of her down line. Maybe a car bonus and other things as well.

Hence the "emotional conversation."

"Where are the girls?"

"Sit down. I need to talk to you."

"Where are my kids!!"

"They're not here. We need to talk."

"What do you mean they're not here? Where the F are my babies?"

why would he tell her that in advance tho

would his expectation be that she would forgive him

why not kill her the minute she came in if the kids were already deceased

i kinda think mom was first and the kids heard all noises and came out and were really loud and screaming and he could not handle that anymore

speculation

Locally they were saying he confessed the very moment he did. Channel7 gives credit to one of their reporters...jace something or another...for getting the info right when it happened.

Well, if that tiny opening is all there was, then that explains why he didn't put Shanann in the tank, but he had to know she wouldn't fit before he did this. You would think he would come up with something better than just burying her nearby.

The scent of death: Police dogs and the Chris Watts investigation

FREDERICK, Colo. -- K-9 experts say a cadaver dog may have provided detectives their most important clue in the Chris Watts homicide investigation. Investigators in Frederick, Colorado aren't saying how they got Chris Watts to confess Wednesday but Weld County prosecutors have revealed Watts' wife Shanann and two daughters were killed inside their home.

On Tuesday morning, K-9 search teams were seen going in and out of the Watts home while Chris Watts was providing interviews to the media.
