Slain Colorado Family's Babysitter Speaks Out

According to a June 2015 bankruptcy filing, Christopher Watts had gotten a job six months earlier as an operator for Anadarko, and paystubs indicate his annual salary was about $61,500. Shanann Watts was working in a call center at a children’s hospital at the time, earning about $18 an hour—more for evenings, weekends, or extra shifts she sometimes worked.

The couple had a combined income of $90,000 in 2014. But they also had tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, along with student loans and medical bills—for a total of $70,000 in unsecured claims on top of a sizable mortgage.

They said in the filing that their nearly $3,000 mortgage and $600 in monthly car payments formed the bulk of their $4,900 in monthly expenses.

.....The arrest affidavit alleges that Christopher Watts was having an affair with a coworker at Anadarko Petroleum Co., where he worked as an operator up until Aug. 15. Later that day, he was arrested.

The couple filed for bankruptcy in 2015, and were scheduled to appear in small claims court this past week with the Wyndham Hill Master Association, their homeowners' association.

A forensic profiler unconnected to the case in an interview with People magazine described Watts as "Scott Peterson, just less charismatic," referring to a man now on death row for killing his pregnant wife in 2002.

He then loaded all three bodies into his work truck and took them to an oil site near Roggen in eastern Colorado. He dumped Bella and Celeste inside two oil tanks at the site and buried Shanann Watts nearby.

Before his confession, law enforcement searched the area with a drone and saw a bed sheet in the field. The pattern on the sheet matched the pattern officers saw on pillowcases and top sheets found in the kitchen garbage can at the Watts' home. [bbm]

Here is the summons and complaint in the HOA case against the Watts, along with the waivers (Waiver and Acceptance of Service) signed by each of them a few weeks BEFORE the case was filed with the court.

A Funeral Mass will be held 1PM on Saturday, September 1st 2018 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pinehurst with Rev. John Forbes officiating.

Shan’ann was born January 10, 1984 in New Jersey to Frank Rzucek and Sandra Onorati Rzucek. She was our pride and joy, a true gift from God. We were so blessed to have such a joyful and wonderful daughter whose beauty was that of a doll.

Bella was born December 17, 2013 in Colorado. Shan’ann was so excited to have her first baby girl. She spent every minute thanking God and taking care of her precious gift that the Lord had blessed her with. How she loved and cherished her.

Celeste was born July 17, 2015 in Colorado. Oh how Shan’ann was so excited to be able to have another child because of her battle with Lupus. She was determined to stay healthy and with her love for her Celeste, every moment with her was a blessing.

Shan’ann wanted one more child praying for a baby boy. She named him Nico Lee. With the anticipation of her son to join them she knew he would be loved by his sisters and family.

The family is survived by Shan’ann’s father, Frank Rzucek; Mother, Sandra Onorati Rzucek; Brother, Frankie Rzucek whom were inseparable and best friends; Uncle, Rocky Onorati; Aunt, Sharyn Onorati; Aunt, Robynn Odom; Uncle, Steve Onorati; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Shan'ann Watts Beat Odds to Have Children Despite Lupus — and 'Was So Excited' About It

Before she became a mother of two and with a third child on the way, slain Colorado mom Shan’ann Watts had been told by doctors that she wouldn’t be able to have children.

“And she was SO into her family,” KL, a friend of the couple, told PEOPLE. “Like, that’s all she talked about. She talked about her girls as miracles, because she had some health problems and didn’t know if she’d have kids. But she really embraced motherhood, and I thought she embraced her marriage, too.

“My health challenges happened for a reason,” she said. “I was told I couldn’t have kids, you know, and here I have two amazing, crazy, wild children I love dearly. Everything happens for a reason.”

(22 Aug 2018) Colorado investigators are checking the suspected disposal site. GPS coordinates provided by police suggest the bodies of Shanann Watts, along with that of 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste were found at an oil worksite on or near a sprawling ranch close to Roggen, a high plains town about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of the family's home in Frederick.

The oil site was not clearly visible Tuesday from the borders of the ranch, set in grazing land with sagebrush, yellow wildflowers and the occasional cottonwood tree. Gates to the property were closed, and the ranch owner did not immediately respond to a telephone message.

'Absolutely No Evidence' Shan'ann Watts Killed Her Daughters: Police Source

A source close to the investigation tells PEOPLE that Chris’ alleged defense is not plausible.

“There is absolutely no evidence that she killed her children,” the source tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “None at all. And there is physical evidence to tie him to their murders. Strangulation is a very personal way to kill someone, with a lot of physical contact. Just based on the preliminary evidence, everything is consistent with him killing them all.”

“We’ve just begun our investigation in many ways,” the investigation source tells PEOPLE, “but we have a lot of evidence that points straight to Chris.”

Man claims accused killer Chris Watts was his ‘lover’ who told him he was ‘trapped in a loveless marriage’

An unknown man who appeared on HLN’s “Crime and Justice” on Tuesday claimed he had a 10-month sexual relationship with accused murderer, Chris Watts.

Although the revelations cannot be independently confirmed, the anonymous man stated that Watts, 33, messaged him on the MeetMe app and made “small talk” in June 2017. The source said after chatting for a while he began to feel comfortable with Watts and agreed to meet. The source claimed that upon the first meeting, he had sex with the accused killer.

The source said he thought the relationship was considered mostly casual, but indicated that Watts “opened up” to him about being unhappy with his life, though Watts reportedly never mentioned he was married in the beginning.

Chris Watts' Alleged Ex-Lover Speaks — but He's Not the Co-Worker Police Say Chris Was Seeing

The man said he was not the co-worker with whom Chris, 33, was allegedly cheating on his wife at the time of the three slayings.

The unidentified man’s story has not yet been independently corroborated by news outlets, including PEOPLE, but his account of an alleged relationship with Chris does contain details about Chris’ life that are not readily available online and in public documents. Identifying information about Chris’ truck and his home matches PEOPLE’s reporting.

A source close the investigation tells PEOPLE that Chris has had relationships with both men and women outside of his marriage. PEOPLE could not immediately reach the man who spoke to HLN on Wednesday.

A man identified as TB came forward on social media Thursday to say he's the one who had the affair with Watts.

He claims police reached out to him after finding his name on the dating app MeetMe, which they found on Watts' cellphone.

The bodies of Shan’ann, Bella and Celeste were recovered not long after Chris was arrested on Aug. 15 and accused of their murders. Their remains had been concealed on property belonging to his former employer. (He was fired the same day he was taken into custody.)

Motive has yet to be confirmed, drawing greater scrutiny to Chris’ suspected infidelities.

Among other alleged revelations, according to investigators, was the confirmation that Chris was cheating on his wife with a co-worker at the time of the three slayings. A source close the investigation told PEOPLE this week that Chris had relationships with both men and women outside of his marriage.
