Investigator testified that JL's wife was still unaware of JL's affair with SM in November when first interviewed.

Also, I believe SM/JL took a break after the daughter found the text communication but resumed communicating again around Christmas.

MOO
I don't know when the wife was told; however, I can see this being a reason to delay release of the AA. He has six children and a wife who would be affected by the information contained in this report. It appears that a few of his children are still minors.

So, in total, there are eight children to consider.

I think the majority of people in the US go to Wal-Mart, at least occasionally, and most communities have a Wal-Mart. I would guess if someone needed items to quickly deal with a situation (ie: covering up a murder), that is where they would go.

There are always a lot of people in WalMarts so you can be more anonymous being part of a crowd. And they have the best prices on a lot of very useful stuff for covering up murders.

Case in point, I remember where I was and who I was with the day OJ killed Nicole and Ron. The white bronco chase was still going on when the movie let out. I do not remember what I saw. Clearly OJ was more interesting.
I with my cousin, who was in labor. I recall very little of the labor; we kept watching the chase for the distraction factor.

This was a fantasy relationship for the both of them, but I think Suzanne put more meaning into it than was there.

I think she was musing a plan to leave BM and what she would/could do. The Ecuador thing was never something she was going to do on her own, it just served as a point for discussion of what escaping the relationship might entail.
I thought that I read that one of her texts said that she had looked at homes in Arizona. Unless there is a town called Ecuador in Arizona, I think that it was just a country that was mentioned with low healthcare costs.

From watching crime shows, I have learned that the trick is to wear generic clothing and a big hat, keep your head down and always pay in cash. Oh, you have to make sure that you park way off in the distance, too. Walmart, Target and Home Depot apparently have fantastic surveillance systems.

I was amazed at how quickly the police were able to catch Edwin Hall for the kidnap and murder of Kelsey Smith using Target surveillance footage. Such a tragic case.

I was being somewhat facetious. I know why they need stuff from Walmart for some part of their crime. My point was more like, haven't criminals figured out yet that Wal-Mart almost always is their ciminal peers downfall and maybe they should avoid there like the plague? Learn from other's mistakes kinda thing.

I thought maybe you were joking, but didn't want to assume!

It depends on what the daughter read. I would have freaked out and told Mommy

This actually happened to a family I know, and that’s exactly what the daughter did.

And they are still married, 5+ years later. People don’t typically leave their marriages for their affair partners.

I do feel terrible for JL’s family. No sympathy for him. I hope to see him sweat it out on the witness stand.

THAT will be very interesting!

I did watch the video with LS.
Again, they all three have known each other since high school.
One thing I found disturbing , is that BM's sister confronted LS and told her, basically you have helped ruin our lives.
I'm sure JL was terrified of BM "Mr. tough talking, tough guy" and or his family.

On time in 1995 in Colorado Springs, the buddy I was staying with had a fling a couple of times with this married gal.
Well turns out the husband found out. Well he was a professional archer training at the Olympic center.

My friend slept with one eye open, literally, for at least 6 months.

IMO

The defense also spoke of nude photos.. I wonder if the photo shown in court was actually a cropped photo. That would explain why the defense claimed they hadn't seen the picture and needed a copy. If this photo is cropped, BM could have seen her taking a hypothetical top less photo and even if he didn't know who exactly it was sent to, it could be assumed it wasn't sent to the girls, another family member or her best friend and I doubt she had been sending BM those types of photos recently. It could also explain why no bathing suit top was mentioned by anyone. We know her hair covered where bathing suit straps SHOULD be, but we don't know if they were actually there. If the picture showed a bathing suit and this pic is her last PROOF of life, wouldn't she be presumed to be wearing that when she disappeared?
I have wondered if it was topless photo too. She would feel safe to do that in her own back yard and thinking she's alone. If he caught her taking that type of photo then I can see his rage being off the chart! Another thought I had is that he may have seen her taking the photo by way of a trail camera, I do think he was watching her very closely to see where this sudden independence came from. I'm sure he was not understanding this new Suzanne that really was fed up and done with him.

Just a couple thoughts: MOO

1 - When LE opened the safe in the garage where BM claims he had $70k in cash, isn’t it customary for LE to photograph the safe contents before moving anything out of it and/or before bagging it as evidence? I feel BM’s theft accusations could easily be disproven based on the documented photographs or evidence that LE has. They could easily show there was no cash in the safe when it was opened.

2 - BM’s accusatory comment about SM having drunk eyes or suggesting she was drinking based on her last known proof of life photo he was shown, doesn’t hold weight because of her chemo treatments. There is no way she would have been able to consume any level of alcohol while on chemo meds.

MOO
I thought she had completed treatment?

Also, it depends. I received Taxol weekly for ten weeks, never got sick, and tolerated my nightly glass of wine with no problem.

I also don't care if she was drinking or not. Possibly their religion forbids it, which might be another reason Barry would use it to imply Suzanne was off the rails somehow.

I believe this is exactly what investigators said. They learned about the affair only through the spy pen and shared the recording with SO and another friend but neither could identify the voice of JL. LE finally identified JL following SM to LinkedIn and executed a search warrant. MOO

Too bad they don’t charge him with accessory after the fact.

If I am understanding correctly, SM had discovered that her cancer had recently returned. She had an appt. to see her oncologist in the week following her disappearance.

I've noticed that Barry is quick to discredit others who are a problem for him by calling out drug and alcohol use. It seems to be the first thing out of his mouth.
