I’ve been known to step out of line occasionally, out of pure ignorance mainly, but I can remember thinking a few times “what’s the big deal?” Yesterday revealed to me WHY y’all work so hard to keep the rumors out and WHY it’s SO “important” to run a clean and respectful sleuthing page. I realized just how truly thankful I am to have y’all as moderators yesterday. I’m going to be watching my Ps and Qs much more carefully!

Looking at that photo of the cement square cut out at the search site, something struck me as odd from the get-go. Those rectangles strewn around.... those are the cement pieces cut out to make that square, correct? It looks to me like there are more of them than would fit in that square. Anyone else notice that?

That has been troubling me today also. I thought it was mentioned yesterday or there was speculation that FBI had used sonar or some other device that can find a body in concrete and that is what led them to remove that particular piece of concrete. It gave me hope that she was found. Apparently that wasn't the case.

I think whatever happened to Suzanne occurred a day or days before mother's day.
Barry had to report her missing before the girls were back from their trip.He had to be away from the house to set up Suzanne's disappearance .He knew the police would check his alibi so I think he must have travelled to Denver.

The realtor listing says the heat source is radiant, so I don't know if that means radiant floor heating. The energy source to heat the coils could be a gas or oil burning furnace or wood burning boiler. Or a combination of both.

"Radiant" probably means heat mats embedded in concrete ground floors, and radiant air curtains or electric baseboards with a hot water tube in them, producing very comfortable, quiet, economical whole house house heating in mountain areas. This type of heat system is especially compatible with passive solar architectural features. The propane tank is probably for cooking and hot water heater, belongs to the propane supplier, and is located where it is easiest to pull the fill truck in and park. JMO

The property owner had only known BM for 3 weeks according to this.

The owner of the property told CBS4’s Rick Sallinger that he has known Barry Morphew for three weeks. The river front property was undergoing improvement. Concrete was laid over the dirt.

Google Earth shows what it looked like BEFORE they began improvements... I noticed there is a cellar out front... I’m wondering if the sifting is to find “weapon” or if they think BM decided to try Frazee’s method.

I don't think ground penetrating sonar or radar imaging work very well when under slab insulation and/or reinforcing steel mesh are covering the target(s). IMO

I think LE saw a site with a lot of different aspects, and thought it was prudent to sift any possible area to see what turned up. IMO

Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook did state that they did not find SM today at the excavation work site. But, that doesn't mean they've found nothing at all. I'm wondering if they have found any items of interest. It's true the news reporters might be backing off a bit after the frenzy of Friday to give LE a break, but it could also be that they've been asked to "please back off" by the sheriff. That would seem to be in keeping with the way LE has handled the case so far. Just wondering...

Good point.
We don't know how long she was 'missing'.

The above poster also pointed out that the 'blessed' FB photo on Suzanne's page was at least a year old, if not more.
We have no idea what she looked like in her last days.

That should have been important to anyone who thought an abductor had taken her--- a recent photo should have been given to LE.
Not to mention a description of her clothing , shoes, etc.
We still do not know what kind of bike she had, but that's probably a moot point by now.

And when a 200,000.00 reward is offered to 'them', you fail to provide a recent photo? Very odd.

There is a reason why LE isn't focused on the bike..... it's irrelevant.

Personally I think they knew this was a murder investigation within hours. Which tells me they have a lot of strong evidence that points them in that direction.

I think if there was any shred of hope she was alive they would have put out an actual description of her, asked for people to come forward who were in the area, told us a time frame, etc.

They didn't do this, because they knew it would only hinder their investigation.

What concerned me was that there were no recent photos.

She had survived two bouts with cancer and may have appeared much different at the time the husband said in his video plea that she'd been abducted.

Chaffee county required an under slab insulation minimum of R-10 under heated slabs. Usually some kind of rigid foam is used, something like in the link below. The heat tubing would then be installed over the top. (Hopefully the picture and link work)

Hi all, I've been following much (but not all) of the discussion here for the past couple of days, and decided to jump in. IMO, LE has very good reason to believe that SM's remains are somewhere within the rectangular area cut out of the concrete slab—otherwise, they wouldn't be devoting all this time/energy to digging and sifting through sediment there. Assuming this is accurate and *if* they find (and/or are currently finding) SM's remains there, I'd imagine that investigative procedure would require that they continue digging and sifting until they're reasonably confident that they've recovered *all* (vs some) evidence of her remains at the site (But if this isn't the case, please straighten me out!) And so, if her remains are not intact—for purposes of discussion let's say they've been reduced to ashes—how much of her remains will LE collect before they make a formal announcement? Am thinking about the possibility that they may have already identified some of her remains at the site (via DNA analysis or other means), but are continuing to dig and sift until they're satisfied they've found everything there is to be found ... and will hold off on making their findings public until that time. If any of you are familiar with how all of this procedural stuff works, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Your post reminded me of Laura Babcock and Tim Bosma cases where an incinerator was used.
LE was still able to convict the suspects, but a lot of the evidence was via text messaging and cell phone pings.
I am NOT saying anyone used an incinerator, but a wood chipper, etc being used will be really hard to find evidence. JMO

In Salida? During CoVid? No idea. But on a good day, the Medical Examiner's lab where I live can have first results within 12 hours - no more than 3 days if the situation is complex.

I would think they'd have to send the samples to CoS or Denver. Maybe the FBI can do it more quickly (very likely). But I wouldn't think that would be the first step regarding the dig site. For the house, yes. Or if they have a piece of bone or other tissue.

It can be done within hours, if the system allows it.

It might vary by state. Just as an example, in the Michelle and Jim Butler case, the state of Texas says it will take a year and a half to get DNA results.
