Exactly. I just read an article that stated that implied that friends hadn't been in her home in quite some time. (I wonder if some of Nancy's friends aren't spreading a wee bit of disinformation in a loving attempt to protect her memory.)

The idea that NL was a survivalist comes from AL's aunt (wife of the older brother of PL, I believe). I am not sure when was the last time the aunt saw Nancy, or if she ever been to Nancy's house.

If it was this simple why didn't the other Teachers just lock their doors? Wasn't Rousseau's classroom the last one the shooter entered? The room he killed himself in?

He killed himself outside Vicki Soto's room. I personally cannot imagine being in that type of situation and trying to put a key in a door to lock it. I know my hands would be shaking and I would be rushing to hide with the children.

Why exactly can't they have a normal lock that closes from inside without the key but opens from the outside with they key? Seems to me all doors should have that.

If this is accurate then a locked door would likely not have made much difference.

Maybe - but it seems he was going down the hallway trying doors. What room was it that he went in and actually banged on the door that the teacher and the kids were behind? I wanna say it was the music room and music teacher. She said she was petrified that he was going to start shooting the door - but he didn't - he turned around and went to the next room..........

So maybe if he had gotten to 4 or 5 locked rooms that then he might have started shooting the door handles but that would have taken time (even if only a minute or two) and saved more lives. I "heard" today (think it was CNN) but that they believed everyone was killed within a matter of 2 to 3 minutes! With that kinda timeline - one minute is a LONG LONG TIME!

I also wondered about suite rooms. Suite rooms are two classrooms connected by a small hallway with bathrooms. I don't think these were suite rooms - once you are in one room of a suite - it is very easy to get to the next one - I've been housed in suite rooms ALOT and never have the bathroom doors (or suite doors) locked - they didn't even have locks on them IIRC.

as far as being that simple..maybe it would have been..maybe not..without doubt the guy bypassed some rooms that were locked, thereby clearly this safety mechanism of their being able to lock themselves inside with a key IMO QUITE OBVIOUSLY SAVED LIVES...ROUSSEAU DIDNT HAVE THAT CHANCE ..

As far as what room he killed himself in I understand that Rousseau's was the first room that he entered where he killed everyone inside(save the little who played dead).. from there he entered Soto's room to which she told him her kids were in the gym..at that same time 6 of the 13 students she had hiding in the closet, came running out attempting to flee to which he shot all 6, along with Soto AND another teacher/aide that was also in the room..the shooter then shot himself in that classroom, to which there were still 7 students hidden in that classroom closet, unharmed...

atleast that's how I understood it..

What a horrible oversight. I hope schools across the nation make sure that ALL school employees have the tools necessary to protect their children, like the ability to lock down their classes.

Those little boys and girls they burried today I can't even look at them. I honestly don't care what type of illness he had. This was planned. How sad I love my baby so much and pray for those affected!!!!

This was a few years ago but I don't think many of the family knew. She wasn't someone to make a fuss. She accepted life as it was.

‘Over the last year she suddenly seemed to be traveling a lot. I know she went to England and was all over the US.

‘There was no sign her health was getting worse. She still looked beautiful, so full of life, but maybe she felt time was running out.’

The Facebook conversation seems to back this up. On October 9, Nancy wrote to Marsha that she had been to ‘a little bit of everywhere’.

She wrote: ‘Boston, New York, Maine, Toronto, London, San Francisco, Nantucket, Charlotte, Baltimore...that covers this year : )’

Nancy also talked about wanting to move to a smaller house but did not want to sell her home at a loss.

A great theory, I never thought of colleges as a mask for mental health facilities...and your theory makes sense as to why Lanza would explode in such a rage...

This makes sense. Friends of Nancy have talked about how Nancy rarely mentioned her youngest son or his problems. (Was this because his mental disorder caused her embarrassment?) Perhaps she was preparing her friends that her son would soon not be living with her. Instead of telling them the truth (embarrassment and/or guilt for institutionalizing him?), she told them he was going off to college far far far away.

YES, this is another issue that I would like to have clarified.. I see wfgodot replied that Sandy Hook was actually some five miles from the shooter's home with several turns involved(as in it was NOT just around the corner, nor was it a straight shot).. so, the question Im most curious about remains in was Sandy Hook the nearest school to the shooter's home or was there a school that was actually closer to the home..therefor IMO making it all the more likely that it was Sandy Hook(also now confirmed that AL did attend one year there for his 5th grade school year) specifically that he targeted, rather than just the nearest school to target young children as his victims..

TIA to anyone who knows if Sandy Hook is the closest to the Lanza home..or if in fact there were schools closer..perhaps even that he passed along his way to Sandy Hook?

He drove past Newton High School and Continuing Education to get to Sandy Hook.

Some people think I am crazy, but I have a trust fund in place for my two furbabies as well as the rest of the family. I have asked someone who I know will care for them to do so. They will get the trust fun I have set up, to help pay, for food, vet care, Toys, leashes, and everyday necessities that comes with having a pet, Most people find it a burden to have to pay for that stuff, when willed a pet, Lord knows it adds up, but I hope to ensure my babies give the person as much love as I have gotten without it financially hurting the person I have chosen..Kinda like know I have a bank account that is strictly for the pets, I add money into it every pay period that way if an emergency comes up and they need medical help ASAP the funds will be there to make sure I can afford to take them to the vet. IMO it's part of being a responsible owner

This is a great idea. Maybe if I did this my savings account would have a decent balance. I'm going to do this, thanks for the idea
