okay... after Anderson Cooper's 360 show last night and tonight they played Amazing Grace at the end of the show and it had me bawling... :tears:
my first post here on the this thread, and am still on the #4 thread, so if this has been asked - please forgive me, but what are "sanpaku eyes" - I looked it up in the dictionary and it's NOT there!!?? :waitasec: If someone could explain - it would be much appreciated! TIA

Prayers to all the victim's relatives, friends, etc. - unbelievable horror for all involved... :notgood:

But I knew I could come here to WS and get some comfort! :blowkiss:

okay, back to my usual

:lurk:

We have discussed this woman before. I don't approve of her posting about her son in such a way.
So far he has not killed anyone, so I fail to see the reason for his own mother to link him will the mass shooters.

Seems to me she is shedding light on the woefully inadequate mental health system. It desperately needs to be discussed. Without the first hand accounts of struggling families how can that dialog even begin?

I'm quite sure it pains her beyond measure to share the frightening hell that is her families life. She's reaching out and begging for help. That takes courage and should be applauded.

It's when you can see the white part of the eye on three sides. Like Ramona on the real housewives reality show

Again, havent read all from today so sorry if repeat..But I believe what you are stating also as I believe the LE could somewhat verify this story based on where the children were found as well as some info from the children who lived. The children on the mans driveway tho, need to read more about as it actually kind of creeped me out when I watched it last night plus it doesnt make sense. Maybe they were older children from totally different classroom who escaped... who knows..

well according to Jessie Lewis father Jessie was one of the six that fled the closet and was killed along with Soto and another teacher.. so, not sure what the story is, but I certainly initially had posted about what a hero Soto was and what a miracle it was that the 13 students of Soto's had all survived and I was hailed with "get your facts straight that's whats important is for the facts to be straight"..

to which I was posted link after link and post after post telling me 6 of Soto's students died when fleeing.. along with then reading the first hand account of one of those dead students father, Jesse Lewis father and how much the dad wished his son had not run with the other 5, but rather stayed behind in the closet with 7 that survived in Soto's class..

so are we saying that Jesse Lewis father has been told a completely false and incorrect account of how his son died?..cuz that i find a difficult pill to swallow..

out of all of the reports I believe the father whose son is one of the six that fled from Sotos' closet and was killed when fleeing and dad goes into detail about that choice his son made to run that resulted in him being killed.. I suppose its just me but I believe the father of one of six children killed when they ran from Soto's closet to be the one I'd believe over any other report floating around..jmo, tho.

Its when you can see the whites above and below the pupil. And any significance anyone attaches to it is BS. IMO

I am working on the theory they should be armed with something. I have not totally eliminated a weapon. If they are telling teachers, etc. to charge the perp they shouldn't expect them to do it with no protection or weapon. jmo

On NPR I heard an account of how a superintendent had his school staff trained and armed with guns after one of the massive school shootings in the past. They further said that not all staff have weapons, but they will not say who does. A solution to guns is not other guns, but there is nothing that would provide a fair match. Secure single point of entry!

I know zero about gaming but I looked up in google the Alchemy Community (World of Warcraft) and found that in playing these games you have either a profession or you have to reach a profession. Well two of the professions are engineering and cooking. Havent we heard out in the news from some who "knew" him that he wanted to be an engineer and his mom was teaching him how to cook? Any of you gamers know how you reach these professions in the game? I have no point I just find coincidence odd.

I'm way behind so not sure if your question has been answered. There is nothing nefarious about raising any of the professions in Warcraft. Cooking is much like we cook in real life, gather meats and build a campfire.

Alchemy, you pick flowers! Yes, flowers. Purchase vials and mix them. Nothing remotely violent about that profession.

ETA: You inquired about engineering ( I misread it alchemy). Engineering is leveled by smelting ore into bars and creating items like dynamite and mechanical items that either are vanity items or battle assistants. Engineers are also able to craft riding mounts such as helicopters and motorcycles.

Actually, this is the reason that oldest sibling often has a slightly higher IQ. Learning is great, but teaching presents a new intelligence challenge that strengthens not only IQ and reasoning, but expressive language as well. It's far easier to know the answers, than to explain them.

It's a great form of enrichment, provides a community feeling between the student body, and exemplifies to the mentor how capable they truly are.

It's a wonderful, and it does help both students. It's also well researched. Look up Maria Montessori or Jean Piaget on Mixed-Age Classrooms.

Agree. In elem. school I was always finished work first and lots of times I'd get sent to the library to read or whatever. Which was isolating, in retrospect. In 4th grade we had a new student who was not up to the class level. The teacher allowed me to work with her while she taught the rest of the class. That student was only in our school for one year -- maybe less, but I remember her name and what she looked like to this day, and also how it felt to help her learn. It was most definitely one of the most enriching experiences of my young life.

We are ALL on the side of the children. Using MSM quotes at this point without LE verification is pure speculation at this point. None the less this is dialoge we need to have.

A 7 year old in my granddaughters 2nd grade class had a meltdown the week before halloween. This occurred in the class, he used multiple profanities, threw over desks and ripped books to shreds. My granddaughter said the students had to be taken out of the room. As I understand he was suspended and is supposed to return after Christmas. We are taking my granddaughter out of that school and putting her in one closer to my home (she already attended the one near my home and there were no problems in the 2 years she was there). This kid could be another AL!

Because he had a meltdown at 7 years old? Respectfully, this type of attitude towards children with processing problems or even just the occassional tantrum will just lead to more socially ostracized, loner children, and then we will have lots more AL's. It might be because I have spent the last 3.5 years of my life interacting with autistic and DD children through my son's schooling and things don't affect me the same way as they would parents without those experiences, but this just seems...so wrong.

I realize that might be fire code. But that still gives teachers no ability to lock the door if needed-if the teacher can not lock the door from the inside.

Some doors require a key to open from the outside. The door can be locked on the inside by a switch that can be moved right to left and vice versa. To get out of the locked room one only needs to flip the switch and no key is needed.

I had the same reaction- but now I'm wondering about Ms. Soto... why wasn't her room locked? She was a regular teacher, right? Are we sure this report is confirmed and not speculation?

I'm still catching up, apologies if this question has been posed.

From what I remember reading she tried to hide all the children and knew this monster was coming to her class next. When he approached she told him that the rest of her class was in the auditorium. As to why her classroom door was not locked, idk.

sssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...................................

I have one better - and I do this at home too!!!

I have a big can of wasp spray. Ya know - the stuff with the little nozzle you lift up and then push the button? That stuff will spray 12 feet - and with pretty good accuracy too! I have kept a can in my classroom for years. A can of wasp spray sitting on the counter behind my desk doesn't really attract any attention - no one has ever really even mentioned it. I keep one at home too. That stuff is really nasty poison and the added length in shooting is better. That pepper spray gun posted above shoots 23 feet!

sssshhhhhhh..................... it'll be our little secret :floorlaugh:
lol
In college (when dinosaurs ruled the earth) I was grilling some yummy steaks and noticed a huge wasp nest directly above the grill. I didn't have wasp spray so dummy me decided to use my can of mace. It melted the wasps and then blew back on me. It is very disabling! Something like mace, pepper spray, or wasp spray would disable a shooter temporarily, but wouldn't kill any child. I think it is a good idea for teachers and professors.

It wasn't is first time. I consider him dangerous. I don't want my granddaughter anywhere near him.

well.. I believe we all now know exactly what the issue was that they COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE SHOOTER FIRST WENT TO ROIGS CLASSROOM, BUT THEN WENT ONTO ROSSEAUS WHERE HE ENTERED AND BEGAN KILLING!..

that reason that they couldn't explain was the fact that Roig's classroom door was locked...therefor the gunman carried onto the next classroom, Rouseeau whose door quite obviously was NOT LOCKED DUE TO REASONS BEYOND HER CONTROL..

so, I see that they were quite literally skirting this issue of the locked door vs Rouseeau's unlocked door as to why he passed by Roig's classroom..obviously to not have to deal with the issue that since then Rousseau's father has let out of the bag, in that his daughter as substitute had not yet been given a key to be able to lock her door as Roig was able to do, thereby quite literally saving the lives of Roig and her students...

now the issue of Soto..why would she not have put her classroom on lock down?..she hid her students but didn't lock the classroom door?..do any have any ideas on why possibly she didn't?.. and to be clear I am in no way blaming her as she quite clearly gave her life for those kids as she hurled herself between them and the gunman as they were attempting to flee...but I do wonder about her door being not locked, and wonder why?

OK you are correct Roigs room was locked, thinking back on it she said in her interview she wouldn't let the police officer in- made him slide his badge under the door but she didn't think it looked real so she told him if he really was LE he would have a key...which he did.

But she didn't know why the shooter passed them by so was her door already locked and she simply closed it?
Since she did talk about the officer having the key on national TV I don't think anyone is hiding anything.

Yes thank you it was answered. I just found it funny reports AL played WOW with "cooking AND enginering" as professions and reports in real life he was interesting in "cooking AND enginering". I wondered aloud if it was "life imating art". But I was schooled so to speak. But thank you for your response.

I guess it might give someone a feeling of security, but someone with a semi automatic "bushmaster" will have killed the person reaching for the wasp spray.

imo

I know I wouldn't like that solution either. But, what is a single point of entry? I am not sure I understand what it is. tia
