This was a few years ago but I don't think many of the family knew. She wasn't someone to make a fuss. She accepted life as it was.

‘Over the last year she suddenly seemed to be traveling a lot. I know she went to England and was all over the US.


‘There was no sign her health was getting worse. She still looked beautiful, so full of life, but maybe she felt time was running out.’

The Facebook conversation seems to back this up. On October 9, Nancy wrote to Marsha that she had been to ‘a little bit of everywhere’.

She wrote: ‘Boston, New York, Maine, Toronto, London, San Francisco, Nantucket, Charlotte, Baltimore...that covers this year : )’

Nancy also talked about wanting to move to a smaller house but did not want to sell her home at a loss.

I was thinking about this a bit, and all of the locations she had visited. With the exclusion on Nantucket and Charlotte, most of these locations have early psychosis and schizophrenia treatment centers on this list:

It wasn't is first time. I consider him dangerous. I don't want my granddaughter anywhere near him.

There are separate schools for kids with severe emotional problems. Gather other angry parents and confront the principal and his/her boss (the school superintendent).

In college (when dinosaurs ruled the earth) I was grilling some yummy steaks and noticed a huge wasp nest directly above the grill. I didn't have wasp spray so dummy me decided to use my can of mace. It melted the wasps and then blew back on me. It is very disabling! Something like mace, pepper spray, or wasp spray would disable a shooter temporarily, but wouldn't kill any child. I think it is a good idea for teachers and professors.

And, they should make the pepper spray in a can as big as a wasp spray can! I understand it doesn't spray for a very long time, so if you are a bad shot, as I would be under duress, I would be up a creek. A big can of it would give me a better shot, lol. Aqua net in the eyes would work, but would have to be pretty close.

Yes thank you it was answered. I just found it funny reports AL played WOW with "cooking AND enginering" as professions and reports in real life he was interesting in "cooking AND enginering". I wondered aloud if it was "life imating art". But I was schooled so to speak. But thank you for your response.

Yeah, don't put too much thought into that. Using professions in Warcraft is how we make a large part our in-game currency.

I think all the schools right now should get a tape of police sirens and blast it throughout the school so the suspect thinks the police have arrived.

I think they should get the glass windows where you can see out and the person outside cannot see in.

Do we have any official releases from LE as to what went on inside that school. I haven't seen any, so really we are just getting reports from what the terribly scared and traumatized children are saying or telling their parents. I am not saying what their accounts are aren't true, but I think we should wait for facts from investigators before all the negative reports start popping up. jmo

It was bad. bad. I think they will release it eventually. Slowly- it may take months.
I am local and I teach an EMT who was there all day. He is in his late 30's and has seen just about every single thing over 10 years. except for anything like this.

Pray for everyone -
It sounds like LE and government will release what is respectful and there are many adult survivors who will begin to be able to verbalize what they saw. and what their job required them to do that day. People have said "evil visited that school" and from what I have been able to discern is that scene in that school was- is truly a scene from hell.

That would be a type of foyer that is secured and no entry to the main building can be had unless staff let a person in. Cameras/monitoring equipment would give staff in office a look at the person before meeting them.

Schools could have rules that bar unscheduled visits. For security, parents could be required to call the office to set a time and could be required to give a password such as last four digits of son. They could also use cards with magnetic strips that would have to be used to open doors into the building and office. They are used in many hospitals I have worked at.

OT, but may be security related. I recently saw a retinal specialist and after I filled out paperwork, they had me stand in front of a small camera and took my picture to keep on record. I guess that is to prevent insurance fraud, but I could see something like this in use in schools. Parents, teachers, delivery persons could be photographed and their photos kept on computers allowing staff to verify they are who they say they are.

Where there is a will there is a way and we have got to find it!

I caught that 23 feet after I posted - 23 feet is a long way. Someone with a gun 23 feet away would get a chance to at least pull one or two off. You really don't know what you would do until you are actually in that position. I've always had my own "internal" plan should my class be faced with a "shooter situation" and every one of my plans is how to get the kids OUT first - hidden second. Most of the rooms I've had have had 2 doors. The main one off the halland a second one (usually in the back) that goes directly outside. When I had rooms with the second outside door - those are NEVER EVEN USED!!! Never unlocked and even some have the fire alarms hooked to them. I've used those direct outside doors in fire drills though.

Every room I've had over the past 15 years has been different. Some with only one door - some with 2 - some with its own single bathroom - some with a HUGE supply/storage closet - some have been suite rooms - every school is different.

The one thing that has bothered me - and this has only been in the last 5 - 7 years are the rooms I've had with no blinds on the windows. I LOVE natural light. Rooms I've had with blinds - I open them every morning and then close them when I leave. But having that many uncovered windows bothers me. Storms with wind; heavy rain and thunder; would be nice to close the blinds in case anything gets thrown through it in the wind; and the added security at night. If you can see in - I was always worried about the computers or the TV being stolen. KWIM?

I'm glad this is being brought to light - people need to really look at their schools with new eyes......

I am working on the theory they should be armed with something. I have not totally eliminated a weapon. If they are telling teachers, etc. to charge the perp they shouldn't expect them to do it with no protection or weapon. jmo

I don't believe anybody is telling teachers to charge the perp. And keeping guns in classrooms could lead to disaster. They are so many cases of children finding guns and killing themselves.

At the small private school my son attended they REALLY beefed up security after the murders at that small Amish school.

Cameras, outside video chat, you had to be buzzed in two separate doors. Thankfully! A few short weeks later a couple living across the street had a domestic dispute that got ugly fast. A husband had been holding his wife hostage and as police arrived he made a run for it through the little wooded area and attempted to enter the school!

That is an awesome idea on both counts. Single point of entry is necessary also.

All of my doctors require patients to submit a palm scan to verify who they are.
