I think in a closed environment like a car with the window up, if the infected person was sitting up front next to the driver and coughed, it's very possible the driver would be infected.
The neighbor could have spent more time with the infected person than just driving him to the hospital. Perhaps they are friendly neighbors and spend time together, in each other's homes, etc.

And call-offs. We are already hearing our clinic staff in various clinics discussing calling off work if coronavirus is identified in the area of their clinics.
I'm sad about that. Of course it's a personal decision. For me, I went into this line of work knowing that I may deal with patients who are contagious. I'm able to care for them with personal protective gear and following infection protocols. I did so just last week with my patient. (Not Covid-19) Unless I'm sick, I'll be there for them.

I think that's the idea. Maybe a person coughs, covers mouth with their hand and then uses that hand to give the cup to the employee who then may touch their face.
The reverse could be true from employees to customer using Starbucks own cups. I like the idea of my own cup as it reduces plastic and other waste.

WTF, this cannot be right?!?

According to data gathered by eHealth, the average health insurance cost for single coverage premiums in 2018 is $440 per month. For family coverage, the cost for premiums in 2018 is $1,168 per month.

It's not. As a single person over 60, it's more that 3x that a month for $6,500 deductible for folks on ObamaCare. That may be for folks who work for corporations, but unless you have a subsidy on ObamaCare, very expensive and high deductibles. And HMO only, no PPO options this year.

That's not a MOO, that's me.

Thank you!

I’m also in healthcare, but I’m a single mom with 4 kids too. I can’t leave them to live at work for weeks on end, and I can’t risk bringing it home to them either. If I had family nearby that could care for my kids, or a partner to do so, I would absolutely be willing to basically move in at work to help care for the elderly I work with daily. At this stage of life, however, I don’t have options, and my kids will always come first.

Land of the free, home of the brave. Yes, ma’am, that’s the reality here.

ETA - free to die and brave to live here, I guess.

As it should be. I was in a similar situation years ago, during a hurricane. I was supposed to go to work, mandatory report status. No, I had 4 kids at home. Someone else can go.

And then the employee touches another customer’s cup.........

One of my pet peeves is when a server takes soda or water glasses from the table back to the kitchen to refill, rather than bringing a clean glass out with a refill.

I was at a Mexican restaurant just last night where the servers were picking up half full soda glasses from tables and taking into the kitchen to refill. Each dirty (used) glass would have been pressed under the dispenser to refill with soda, then delivered back to the table.

Just think about how virus could be spread to many people in this manner.

I have reguarly put off going to the doctor because of the complications of finding specific Dr's who are "in network" and with that limited selection appointments are often at least a month out
I cancelled an appointment with a specialist today because I can’t afford it this month. Our deductible is nuts so I’m stuck without certain prescriptions until next month, too, because until it’s met, I’m paying through the nose for some scripts. And this is “good” insurance through an employer.

Okie dokey folks. I'm back here after venturing out to a board game gathering with 3 other friends. What started out as a topical discussion went heated very fast. Can't even think to go into it all at this time, because I'm flabbergasted.

Thought I could handle the discussion, but it was 2 against me (one bowed out from discussion) that there was NO problem at all with this outbreak. They said the death rate Same as flu. Brought up the difference in death rates (they did not believe me, as they heard was the same) and ~20% needing hospitals and shortage of 02 and critical care needs for the 20%. That the issues were hospitals being overwhelmed also during the flu, and the economics of not having any immunity. They both said no big deal, we can put up tents like they did in China and give them oxygen from big tanks, like scuba tanks. I tried to explain that no, they didn't treat in tents, they said they saw that they did.

That's how it started, and went downhill. The more I tried to educate, the more they thought I was nuts...just nuts. And a pot stirrer. "If they could do it in Vietnam, they can still do it now".

Let's just say, I overheard that I"m probably not invited to the next event with this group.

Settling back in to my comfy home here at WS ... to isolation from the world views... lol

Gawd help me, give me an "ignore feature" for my friends please...as I need to roll and scroll them on this issue!

"Just spoke with the founder of the Living Science school here in Cherokee County. He confirms that many students here — and their families — are now in self-quarantine, after the teenage boy with Coronavirus took classes here last week." ⁦@wsbtv⁩ Justin Wilfon on Twitter

Have a question. The presser said that these folks were in Fulton county, but now we find in Cherokee County. Why the difference? Are they separate, or why did they say Fulton County?
