Would you mind letting us know what one goes through when being tested?
Please?

I believe they swab your mouth and nasal cavities looking for it. Nothing major.

For most people who get it, its like a cold with headache and it seems to only be problematic when it moves down into the chest.

Quick update before I'm off to bed. DH and I watched Contagion (2011) on demand this evening. Very good film about a fictitious respiratory virus pandemic and its impact on international communities. Worthwhile viewing. I give the movie a B+.

I submitted my COVID-19 poll to JerseyGirl. She will work on posting it over the next few days.

Thoughts and prayers for everyone here on Websleuths as we face this possible national health crisis.

I have two family members from China and they had some comments during dinner this evening.

Regarding stockpiling food, something to think about is not only what is needed for a couple of weeks, but what may be in short supply from China after the epidemic is over. Rice, for example, might be in short supply. Also, supply chains could be interrupted. Food costs might change. Some people in areas where there is no current threat of the virus are stockpiling foods that they fear may be in short supply after the virus subsides.

Most conversations here are about ensuring there is enough food and dry goods in case of illness related self-isolation or quarantine. They were talking about what it might look like after the virus has interrupted the economy of each country for several months.

Hoax huh? MOO

I guess it depends on how you define hoax. To me, taking a relatively minor virus and blowing it up on an international level to inspire worldwide panic might fit the definition. Imo, the really crazy scary part is how many people are buying that this is some dire threat in the US or for travel in Europe...or at all, really. Unless maybe you're an elderly person in rural China or a third world country. jmo

Like you said, to you, no offense.

Do you think this is a hoax? People have died from this minor virus. Lots of people. And it appears to be super contagious. Does that mean most people will die from it? No. The majority will recover. But still, it’s dangerous for many sectors of our population.
