Good for you! I decimated my kitchen, I made old fashioned, homemade Mac & cheese for a bunch of my cowboy friends, I’m not talking small portions, either. I made family size foil pans for 5 dif’ guys, then delivered. Then I rode my rogue horse, enjoying the warmth & the wind. Riding gets me back where I need to be.
Cleaning my kitchen occupied for a bit, lol.
For my sanity, I need to be away from the news. I can easily catch up at CDC & Harvard.com.
Moo
Took a 5-mile walk today with DH. More people are out, taking walks, runs, etc. We came back with clearer heads and reduced worries.

Stay sane and healthy, Everyone!

So here is a question for people on here .

does anybody suspect they had this in late January/February?

I am now convinced I had this at the end of January as I had a hacking dry cough , high temperature and earlier on I went though my whatsapp messages from January and I also complained of Shortness of breath and my ribs and Lungs hurting from the coughing and the headache. This went on for about 8 days for me so all the symptoms would match.

I also travelled twice to France by coach there and back and went to Wales so I would of certainly been open to infection.

I took my dog out for a walk and the neighbors a few doors down have a driveway party in progress. I snapped a couple pics and it doesn't even show the additional 10 people on the street/sidewalk. The kids are driving 4 wheelers all over, the alcohol is flowing, and they are having a grand time.

Meanwhile I had an argument with my daughter earlier about her wanting to go to a friend's house. No wonder my kids don't understand.

CT - NOT IN MY BACKYARD SAY NEIGHBORS! DARIEN CT CANCELS DRIVE THROUGH FOR COVID19 TESTING AFTER 4 HOURS DUE TO COMPLAINTS FROM NEIGHBORS:

Twitter slams CT town for cancelling coronavirus test site after neighbor complains

Quotes from Article:

About four hours — That’s the time it took between Darien’s First Selectman Jayme Stevenson’s announcement through a town-wide email that there would be a drive-thru COVID-19 test site at town hall — and the cancelation of the site.

Plans for the test site were cancelled amid some opposition from neighbors, though officials have not cited the complaints as the reason for cancellation. As of March 23, a new test site will be operating at Darien High School.

Immediately after the original announcement for a site at town hall was posted on The Darien Times website, a woman who said she lives near the proposed location expressed strong opposition to the test site on the newspaper’s Facebook page.

She said the town didn’t receive notice from its leaders ahead of time. She also said there are children who live on the street in front of town hall, as well as the surrounding streets.

The story caught the attentions of national news outlets like Buzzfeed whose senior culture editor tweeted out "The town of Darien Connecticut cancelled a drive-through Coronavirus testing site because NEIGHBORS COMPLAINED."

But not all residents are opposed. In fact, several hours later, when the test site was cancelled, many people expressed their disappointment and strongly urged Stevenson to reconsider on the Darien Times Facebook page. Some users said that in light of all the people who are very sick and dying from the virus, Darien residents should not be playing the “not in my backyard game.”

"I don’t understand how someone could react negatively to this. Pearl clutching and tantrums are counterproductive. Is the issue that residents don’t want it in their backyard? I’d happily volunteer my home and property to get this done," another user wrote. [BBM]

In an email to The Darien Times, Stevenson wrote she decided to cancel the initial test site because there were some challenges with the original site selection.

This would be funny if it weren't so sad.

The drive through things should be banned, though. EVERYONE and their brother shows up, using valuable swabs and lab time - when in fact, they aren't needing medical attention. If we really had enough swabs and labs to test them (in other words, had we planned just a tiny bit as a society ) it would be a cool idea.

It lasted about 2 hours in the town next over from me. Not one person was positive (whew - but that was last week). Now they're out of resources to test more in that city. People get hold of kits and think they should make an immediate system for using them.

They should seek local Public Health advice (if that exists). Where I live, we stopped doing county-wide regular planning about 4 years ago. So there's no real plan, except for earthquake or more Rodney King riots.

I also feel this way, to get it now and have it over, and hopefully get immunity that lasts, as I will get it at some point, due to working at the emergency room. Even if there are screening of patients outside the entrance at the moment, sooner or later there will be a patient with the corona virus getting in, and spreading the virus. If I got it now, then I would be able to keep on working without waiting for the virus to hit.
You say you want to "get it now and have it over" and get immunity that lasts. What about those people over 70 that you might infect? When elderly get it now and get it over......it very likely will over for them. This is not the common cold.

As I fully encompass the impact of this awful virus, I am literally in tears. Thinking long term, so many will not survive. What about summer and picnics, bicycling, swimming, vacations? Thanksgiving? Christmas? What will happen to schools? To people out of work? I just cannot comprehend it all.

I have not fully comprehended it all yet either. Happened too fast. I am lucky to be in an industry heavily affected, but not to the point of losing work. It is an evolving situation. I have seen sci fi shows about stuff like this, but never really gave it much thought. It was a bit over my head, and not stuff I had interest in. Now, it is a way of life.

A question for the medical people.

Lets say my employer send me home for 2 or 4 weeks, or 2 month, whatever, and this dies down, and go back to work. What is to say we don't catch it after that period. Isn't this stay home period more about taking the burden off the hospital now? Is it not likely we get this virus at some point later?

Experts say that at least 80% of us will get this. That's why a couple of us were joking about getting it now - rather than 10 years from now. I think 80% of us will have it by 18 months. But if we don't ramp up various forms of testing, we won't know that. I will be much happier when I see that happening.

Today at 4 p.m, a few of my neighbors and I had "Happy Hour on the Sidewalk" We each brought our own glass of wine, played "Build Me Up Buttercup" and danced a bit and sipped. Twenty minutes later, we went home. Plan to do it again tomorrow at 4 p.m. Invited more neighbors and assorted folks driving by.

Just found out of my daughter in law's sister has been informed by her HR she has been in contact with someone that has Covid 19.

It's unprecedented that we are getting personal news of this kind of "creep" into our own lives. We should each be ready to hear (and deal with) someone close to us having CoVid19. If the person is under 50, there's every reason for optimism. You need to double down on your own isolation of course. That's where it gets hard for me (I'm not going to self-isolate from the grandkids for the rest of my life, but I don't want to get sick at the worst time for everyone else - or for them, they'd feel so guilty if I got it from them).

Ouch! Way too close to be safe. My neighbors gathered for a short period of time and we maintained minimum six feet. Sadly, when alcohol flows........

Step-By-Step Mask Production Guide

Phoebe Health is overwhelmed with the outpouring support we have received regarding making homemade face masks. Individuals and organizations across the country and the world have reached out to us to not only help sew masks but to inquire about the pattern so they can duplicate in their community. Here is a PRINTABLE version of our mask instructions, pattern and some pictures of the process. We hope this will help healthcare professionals everywhere stay safe and healthy so they can keep caring for patients.

I am 100% certain I did, after being at a casino not far from Cinci’ airport. I was tested for flu, negative! I had the most insane headache ever, for days, nothing touched it.
That was my main symptom along with fatigue, but my headache was such I could not sleep. A few times I had the feeling I was getting a sore throat but I never had a full fledged sore throat. I saw GP, then allergist. Was advised ragweed was alive & thriving, use a humidifier (I got 100% relief, immediately), rest, otc pain killers. No Rx because “you seem to have a viral infection.). A friend I was with at the casino also had similar symptoms & the muscle aches. She’s a RN & had 2-3 flu tests, all negative.
During our time at the casino, we were exposed to a very large group of tourists from an Asian country, in town/US for meetings.

I'm all for neighbor happy hour but spread out! Just follow the guidelines and act like a responsible citizen! Is that too much to ask?? Apparently, yes, for my neighbors.
