CT - NOT IN MY BACKYARD SAY NEIGHBORS! DARIEN CT CANCELS DRIVE THROUGH FOR COVID19 TESTING AFTER 4 HOURS DUE TO COMPLAINTS FROM NEIGHBORS:
Twitter slams CT town for cancelling coronavirus test site after neighbor complains
Quotes from Article:
About four hours — That’s the time it took between Darien’s First Selectman Jayme Stevenson’s announcement through a town-wide email that there would be a drive-thru COVID-19 test site at town hall — and the cancelation of the site.
Plans for the test site were cancelled amid some opposition from neighbors, though officials have not cited the complaints as the reason for cancellation. As of March 23, a new test site will be operating at Darien High School.
Immediately after the original announcement for a site at town hall was posted on The Darien Times website, a woman who said she lives near the proposed location expressed strong opposition to the test site on the newspaper’s Facebook page.
She said the town didn’t receive notice from its leaders ahead of time. She also said there are children who live on the street in front of town hall, as well as the surrounding streets.
The story caught the attentions of national news outlets like Buzzfeed whose senior culture editor tweeted out "The town of Darien Connecticut cancelled a drive-through Coronavirus testing site because NEIGHBORS COMPLAINED."

But not all residents are opposed. In fact, several hours later, when the test site was cancelled, many people expressed their disappointment and strongly urged Stevenson to reconsider on the Darien Times Facebook page. Some users said that in light of all the people who are very sick and dying from the virus, Darien residents should not be playing the “not in my backyard game.”
"I don’t understand how someone could react negatively to this. Pearl clutching and tantrums are counterproductive. Is the issue that residents don’t want it in their backyard? I’d happily volunteer my home and property to get this done," another user wrote. [BBM]
In an email to The Darien Times, Stevenson wrote she decided to cancel the initial test site because there were some challenges with the original site selection.
You say you want to "get it now and have it over" and get immunity that lasts. What about those people over 70 that you might infect? When elderly get it now and get it over......it very likely will over for them. This is not the common cold.I also feel this way, to get it now and have it over, and hopefully get immunity that lasts, as I will get it at some point, due to working at the emergency room. Even if there are screening of patients outside the entrance at the moment, sooner or later there will be a patient with the corona virus getting in, and spreading the virus. If I got it now, then I would be able to keep on working without waiting for the virus to hit.
As I fully encompass the impact of this awful virus, I am literally in tears. Thinking long term, so many will not survive. What about summer and picnics, bicycling, swimming, vacations? Thanksgiving? Christmas? What will happen to schools? To people out of work? I just cannot comprehend it all.
A question for the medical people.
Lets say my employer send me home for 2 or 4 weeks, or 2 month, whatever, and this dies down, and go back to work. What is to say we don't catch it after that period. Isn't this stay home period more about taking the burden off the hospital now? Is it not likely we get this virus at some point later?
Just found out of my daughter in law's sister has been informed by her HR she has been in contact with someone that has Covid 19.

Ouch! Way too close to be safe. My neighbors gathered for a short period of time and we maintained minimum six feet. Sadly, when alcohol flows........I took my dog out for a walk and the neighbors a few doors down have a driveway party in progress. I snapped a couple pics and it doesn't even show the additional 10 people on the street/sidewalk. The kids are driving 4 wheelers all over, the alcohol is flowing, and they are having a grand time.
Meanwhile I had an argument with my daughter earlier about her wanting to go to a friend's house. No wonder my kids don't understand.

So here is a question for people on here .
does anybody suspect they had this in late January/February?
I am now convinced I had this at the end of January as I had a hacking dry cough , high temperature and earlier on I went though my what’s app messages from January and I also complained of Shortness of breath and my ribs and Lungs hurt from the coughing and the headache. This went on for about 8 days for me so all the symptoms would match.
I also travelled twice to France by coach there and back and went to Wales so I would of certainly been open to infection.
I'm all for neighbor happy hour but spread out! Just follow the guidelines and act like a responsible citizen! Is that too much to ask?? Apparently, yes, for my neighbors.Ouch! Way too close to be safe. My neighbors gathered for a short period of time and we maintained minimum six feet. Sadly, when alcohol flows........
Today at 4 p.m, a few of my neighbors and I had "Happy Hour on the Sidewalk" We each brought our own glass of wine, played "Build Me Up Buttercup" and danced a bit and sipped. Twenty minutes later, we went home. Plan to do it again tomorrow at 4 p.m. Invited more neighbors and assorted folks driving by.
