Trump 'doing very well,' has started Remdesivir therapy, White House physician says

President Donald Trump was taken to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday “out of an abundance of caution” following his coronavirus diagnosis, the White House said.

White House physician Sean Conley said in a statement late Friday that Trump is “doing very well,” has started Remdesivir therapy and does not require supplemental oxygen.

“President Trump remains in good spirts, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day,” press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement to reporters at the White House.
I think that the idea is to portray President Trump as being very sick, in fact he has suffered irreparable damage to his organs and therefore is unfit to be President. JMO

We're not having TG either. It's not worth it, imo. I'm gearing up, psychologically, for a big uptick in the numbers.

Today I went out and did a big shop again, because I think manufacturing and supply chain issues are going to be hit hard again. We've been lulled into a sense of false security with the relaxed requirements and the warm weather allowing us to socialize outside.

A manager in Costco told me today that paper products are again in short supply. The big boxes of kitty litter are all gone again. I really feel for all those feline shelters that rely on donations of litter. No sanitizing wipes, again. I stocked up on kitty litter, cat food, shampoo/rinse, laundry soap, dry pasta, rice, canned tomatoes, canned lentils and beans (all this over the last 3 weeks).

People are living in a dream world if they think this thing is going away. I think people are going to start weighing the risk/reward aspect of living their lives because without a vaccine, it'll be about quality of life.

It was a lot easier staying at home in late March and April because spring and summer were just around the corner and we could be outside. But now we're looking at maybe 6 months of winter with subzero temps and tons of snow. It's a la Nina winter this year.

yes I worry about the rescues/shelters too
I haven't seen wipes at all, ever and I've been checking all summer
we've done the stocking up all along - just buying extra each time

The discussion about stocking up because a worsening of the virus is interesting. Kitty litter? Not one mention of the most important thing for short term survival. Water.

If there's a total societal breakdown where the food supply chain is broken, will the water system that people rely on continue to function?

I read about people stocking up on three, six months or more of food. But what about water? It's kind of hard to stock up on six months of water. JMO
Some of us have well or spring water. I still keep a large quantity stocked up in case of prolonged power outages though.

You're right. It wasn't reported, and it was an inference I drew from the blood O2 reports. It's not a correct inference and he looks and sounds terrific.

If you're positive for coronavirus and hospitalized with mild symptoms and pumped full of drugs, it's still wrong to endanger Secret Service for anything resembling a joyride. They are placed at enough risk on a daily basis.

Both my parents worked in munitions and airplane plants in Britain during WW2. Initially, bombing raids caused terror and swift movement to the shelters but after awhile some people ignored them and decided their own fate by demanding the projectionist continue the film if at the theatre or continued their late night walk during a beautiful spring night.

The difference between what those individuals did and what people who ignore the safety protocols now is that the decisions those who lived through bombing raids affected no one but themselves. To do it now during a pandemic can cause exponential risk and danger to others.

The projectionist at the theatre might disagree with you :D but you are exactly right about the difference between risking your life when it affects no one but yourself versus endangering others during a pandemic. Unfortunately, leaders continue to minimize this virus (even today outside Walter Reed), which leads (some) people to make very poor choices and endanger their family and friends.

I think that it was very important to show the world that President Trump is still in command. That's what he did.

Besides, the Secret Service is going to have to stay very close to the President no matter what he's doing. It's their job. JMO

Good point. It was one of our New Year's resolutions to stop buying bottle water but that was before Covid. I'm gonna add a case or two to the next grocery order. Thanks for your post.

Well, I live in Ontario so if our water system goes on the fritz I'll have several tons of the pretty white stuff to melt and use (even if it's mainly to flush the toilet).

I have about a weeks supply of water here at the house. If that runs out we will have to leave.
That may happen temporily during disasters, but really, the US has the world's largest government/
military/industrial/
charitable infrastructure. If people in the worst poverty-stricken countries can always get water, the US will never get to that point.

Never say never. Be prepared.

I just wish people cared more about the lives and health of essential workers like Secret Service and WH staff. We have video. We can see he looks and sounds fit as a fiddle and can be back to work soon. No need to frivolously expose them when they'll have to escort him back to his job soon anyway.

Anyway, JMO. We can agree to disagree, but I will never think it's right to place one person's fun or self-image over another person's well-being when it comes to a highly infectious virus.

I totally agree. To the extent possible it’s wise to be prepared for the unimaginable so we don’t have to depend on the help of the government immediately during a disaster. I guess I see this pandemic the same way. I’m on my own and take care of myself.

Yep. It's always best to make decisions that allow you to be in charge of your future. JMO

Does anyone know if Biden has been tested again or only that once? I really worry for him as I honestly dont think he would make it if he caught it :( Trump looks healthier with covid than Biden does without it IMO. It’s concerning as he was so close to him in the days before trumps diagnosis.
