White House has new rules: everyone who comes to south lawn for Trump speech tomorrow, his 1st since his hospitalization, must bring a mask and wear it. Coronavirus screening will be a temp check and a short list of questions, but not testing.

Really good news! You watch, somebody somewhere will have some ridiculous remark to make. Lol. Thanks for a positive link. :)

President Trump says the treatment he received will be provided free to everyone. Is he talking about the drugs only, or the entire course of treatment? Hospital stay, labs, imaging, doctor fees, transportation? What's the plan, here? Is it published anywhere yet?

Maybe he's talking about just the aspirin part of the treatment?

Glad to hear that masks are required. I hope they will be required at any rally.

The problem that I have with all those temperature checks is that if someone is starting to run a fever and still want/have to go somewhere, they could take Tylenol, Advil, Aspirin.

It's a start though. To have everyone wear masks. A step in the right direction.

IMO

Those actually aren't new rules. We were always supposed to wear a mask if we could not assure 6 foot social distance. Those rules have been in effect for months, so how are they "new"? It may be "new" that they are going to enforce the guidelines, but the guidelines themselves are not new.

The rampant infection of the WH perfectly illustrates what happens when you let this virus run unchecked. Please folks, follow the guidelines. They actually work.

I think the daily aspirin is for his known heart disease. Daily aspirin is not indicated in any standard of care covid treatment.

I hope the fact he is on daily aspirin for his heart disease does not encourage folks to take it as a covid preventative or treatment. Daily aspirin comes with its own risks.

Yep. Colorado opened up pretty much everything (about the time they revamped the website). Restaurants have lower capacity limits but you can dine inside. People are supposed to wear masks when they aren’t actively eating/drinking but I hear many people just take them off when they sit down. Bars are open too as long as they also serve food. And as evidenced by my neighborhood dive bar, put a hot dog cart in the parking lot and you’re good to go. Nail and hair salons are open. Fitness centers, movie theaters, malls and casinos all open. Schools open. My 4 year old God Daughter plays pee-wee soccer every Saturday. (As if waiting till kids are 5 or 6 to start them in team sports will permanently stunt physical coordination and social skills).

There are mask ordinances but it’s up to business owners to enforce them. No mystery at all why the trend is going back up. It would boggle my mind if it didn’t.

Yet another example - thank you. Florida (same thing). France, UK (same thing). California is just starting to reopen nail salons, indoor dining, etc. We shall see.

The hot dog cart thing is crazy. But that kind of thing does explain the big uptick in Colorado.

Yes, I think the “new rules” for masks are that the rule/guidelines will be “newly enforced” at this White House event. It’s too bad it took hosting a “super spreader event” (per Dr Fauci) for the White House to get with the program. Better late than never, but still...

I can't remember the heart disease. Link please.

In summary, the early use of aspirin in covid-19 patients, which has the effects of inhibiting virus replication, anti-platelet aggregation, anti-inflammatory and anti-lung injury, is expected to reduce the incidence of severe and critical patients, shorten the length of hospital duration and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular complications.

Then patients with common and severe ill were randomly divided into two groups, respectively, namely the NCP standard treatment group and the NCP aspirin group (aspirin 100 mg/d, oral + combined standard treatment). Patients in the NCP aspirin group were given aspirin 100 mg/d orally after admission and aspirin for 14 days after discharge.

The mask wearing and temp checks are for *this* event — steps taken by the organizers, Candace Owens’ Blexit group — not White House rules for events going forward, I’m told. Outside organizers decided to handle the event like this, White House didn't ask them to do it.

I can't remember the heart disease. Link please.

There are quite a few articles about it out there.

President Donald Trump has a common form of heart disease, relatively easy to address if he increases the dose of his cholesterol-lowering medication and makes necessary lifestyle changes. Without those changes, the President has a moderate risk of having a heart attack in the next three to five years, according to the Mayo Clinic.

In the case of Trump, a new score of 133 reveals there has been a steady build-up of plaque in his blood vessels, indicating moderate heart disease.

Jackson has already increased the dosage of the Trump's cholesterol-lowering medication and recommended a low-carbohydrate and low-fat diet, along with an exercise regimen.

Oh, that high cholesterol. My DH has it. :( Weird, he isn't on aspirin.

74 and Overweight, Trump Faces Extra Risks From ‘a Very Sneaky Virus’

President Trump, like many men in their 70s, has mild heart disease. He takes a statin drug to treat high cholesterol and aspirin to prevent heart attacks. And at 244 pounds in a health summary released in June, he has crossed the line into obesity.

Thanks for clarifying. I take back my “better late than never” comment about the White House finally promoting mask wearing at their events.

Thank you for posting the links. I should have thought to do that, but President Trump's heart disease has been common knowledge for quite some time. My bad, and thanks again!

Oh, that high cholesterol. My DH has it. :( Weird, he isn't on aspirin.

It is only if they are at risk of heart attack or stroke that it can be recommended. Otherwise-healthy people should not take it regularly due to its blood thinning aspect.
There are diet changes, exercise plans, and/or cholestrol lowering medications that deal with cholestrol issues.

Still, the risk of heart attack rises with age, and for some people at high risk, daily low-dose aspirin may still make sense, says Dr. Cannon. All adults — no matter what their age — should talk to their doctor before starting or stopping low-dose aspirin, he advises.
