I MUST HAVE MISSED THIS ....
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-07-16-florida-deaths_N.htm

By Donna Leinwand, USA TODAY
The suspects in the shooting deaths of a Florida couple who adopted disabled children have ties to illegal drug activity and a gang, Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said in an interview.
Information about drugs and weapons found by police was passed to federal law enforcement authorities, including the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration, Morgan said. Some of the information was related to other ongoing federal investigations, he said.

I’ve mentioned this before ….
What if the Billings sold a car that had drugs hidden in it and they sold it
(without knowing about the drugs)
*A reason to steal a safe with paper work.
*A reason a large amount of people were involved
*A reason to kill them

Are you talking about the Bingo place across from the Old Barnhill's? It closed about a month ago.

It was only open 3-4 months and I never even had the time to go and I LOVE Bingo (big sigh!):)

It was a joke, daisy. NSC posted "bingo," meaning "you got it!" to a poster making a connection, and WON pretended to think she meant there was a connection with bingo parlors. (Okay, now I've taken all the humor out of it. Sorry.)

I am thinking Bud was involved in money laundering and was going to get "pinched", so they got this rag-tag group of people to pull it off for them.

The wealthy part is not adding up for me.

If the safe was the main target you can bet yoru *advertiser censored**that they would have opened it instead of burying it. Electronic locks are no match for a acetylene torch

And as far as the iffy adoption, they were all arested because the moth impersonated Cindy. she went to the hospital under Cindy's name and listed Byrd as the Father. Basically it was a buy A Baby scam.

I'm not understanding the connection with this case to the Sandshaker arrests several years ago and the fact that SR County now can sell liquor (instead of just beer)?

ETA: Here's a brief synopsis of the Sandshaker stuff
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Sandshaker

Specifically there is not one that we know of, which is why in that post I said,
"I'm just throwing that out into the mix because of the amount of people it involved."

There are folks on this web site from everywhere and sleuthing is pretty much about finding where people or information about them connects.

We have some colorful history in the Gulf Breeze area. Some of this stuff could connect or over lap. It is more or less speculative food for thought, being that there is obviously a lot we don't know about some of the characters involved with these crimes.

This is a link to a Youtube video (NSFW language!) made by members of greenbackstackas.

I think it is worthy of note here because on a couple of the myspace pages, they refer to GB$ as some sort of a club, or a financial group.

This gang information site lists Folk69 as active in Pensacola.

This article says the pitchfork sign that appears in the video is a Folk Nation sign. The article also mentions that "Substituting dollar signs for the S's indicates that this gang is selling narcotics."

I have been a public defender, conflict attorney, and private attorney. When multiple people get arrested for involvement in the same crime, the Public Defender's Office cannot represent them all due to possible conflicts in the representation. Prior to the law change that created the Regional Counsel Offices, the defendants would be appointed to so-called conflict attorneys (actually private attorneys but paid a set amount for the representation). Attorneys who wanted to take these types of cases applied to get on the list to handle conflict cases. The Supreme Court sets the qualifications and experience that is needed for various types of cases (not just any attorney can handle death cases). The Legislature, because they thought private conflict attorneys were getting too much money, created the Regional Counsel Offices in an attempt to save the state money. In this case, with this many defendants, the Regional Counsel Office is now in the same position as the Public Defender's Office. Consequently, the remaining defendants now have to be appointed conflict counsel. They come from the list described above. Although this process should generally be done in the order of arrest, that is not always the case. A lot has to do with who gets what paperwork when. At this point, who is getting what attorney is not that big of a deal in terms of assignment. Everyone is going to be paid by the state. The last time I did this work, the established rate was $100 per hour with a cap of $15,000 for the case. This amount is actually not that high in light of the number of hours that an attorney has to spend working a death case because you must prepare for both the guilt and penalty phase. I hope this explanation helps everyone understand the process.

To be honest, that's the way I thought most private adoptions worked. Heck, I remember seeing or hearing several years ago where some insurance companies will even pay part of the medical care.

Thanks for clearing this up -- guess I gotta stop taking posts so literally:):)

I just remembered seeing one over there, which I hardly ever get over there any more.

(for other readers, just fyi, there is no connection with Bingo to actual topic)

Getting warmer........:silenced:

Lace Sprocket, Read the quote again "The husband of PLW, who faces a charge of accessory to felony murder after the fact, told authorities the safe was in the backyard of a home she owned, an arrest report said"

What this is saying is that HUGH told authorities the safe was in the backyard, not that he faces a charges. Read it again. At least that's how I read it.

Doh!! Oops, sorry. :lipssealed:

I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'm having a hard time understanding why there are so many perps in this case. Haven't they arrested eight people for this crime so far? What in the world makes these people feel comfortable that the other seven won't squeal on them?

Since we're now talking about gangs...here is a doc. on gang activity that was created by Santa Rosa Sheriff's Department and is distributed to school personnel and parents in our county.

Just as an FYI.

Hey...no worries...the first time I read I thought the same thing you did. I started scratching my head wondering why the heck he hadn't been arrested!

The thing about Tabitha is bugging me and I don't know why. Where was she when her husband was picked up? Did he turn himself in or did the sheriff's office pick his butt up from somewhere? Where was she when all this went down? Where were her children? Last night the local news did a story about her - showing the residence with a business card from the sheriff's office still stuck in the front door - meaning they had been to the house looking to talk to her. I'm not sure when they left the card, but her neighbors say she has been gone for a week. I don't know...just seems strange to me that she has had no contact with LE until now (meeting on Monday) or her husband since he was arrested. Maybe I'm just different, but if a family member of mine who I loved was entangled in such a horrific crime I would want to visit and talk them and I would also willingly talk to LE asap.

Please tell us why?

Nothing related to this case, at least I don't think.

It was relating to the Perdido Bingo Group. When I saw Charlie Wiggins, I remembered the bingo casino detail and it just kind of hit me, Perdido Key, Orange Beach, Pam Wiggins, Charlie Wiggins, etc.

As for Tony Henderson possibly being a defender for Sr., a Tony Henderson defended Jr. back in the 90s, seems like it was in 95 or 96.

I get a vib she may be fearing for her life, 'cause she is libel to know a lot about a lot. What the Sheriff told the media about when they are going to meet with her could be complete bs in the interest of protecting her.

Here is something for yall to chew on - with all the "theories" of other possible things going on. What would take Byrd away from the family home on Fathers Day with his own agenda - see if yall can see what I am saying - sounds to me, IMO that things in the last month were "interesting" -- this is just a topper for now since I can post this info being it on the website:
