It was stated that Tatum didn't actually work in the area where the people stayed, or at least where Relisha lived. Does anyone else remember hearing or reading that? I've lost so much sleep over Relisha. Maybe I dreamed it during one of the many nightmares this case has caused. I promised I wouldn't follow young children again. Why did I break my own promise?
I don't know that it matters now where he worked. I don't know. My heart just breaks for the life this child endured. I wish I held onto the hope some are able to find. I was hoping that Tatum would at least be captured, and though I doubt he would have told the truth, was hoping someone would be able to get some facts from him. Now that hope is gone. I don't know if anyone can get the truth out of the others or not. Maybe a couple of her peers could? I know there was threats towards her, and frankly I don't care. She's an adult. She can handle her own. Relisha is just a child. A very small child that can't defend herself, can't stand up for her rights, or her mistreatment. It's just heartbreaking to know that every day this is happening to a child somewhere, and I want to bury my head in the sand. I want to be 'ignorance is bliss', and see the world 'through rose colored glasses'. I want to believe all kids have the upbringing my own kids did. To believe they all have parents that love them, and would walk through fire to try to save them. I want all kids to know the joys of playing in a creek in the summer. To having a mud fight, and every inch of their clothes to be covered in mud from that creek. And instead of someone hurting them, or punishing them, I want them to have a parent that laughs, and takes photos of the mud filled day, and then playfully sprays them with a waterhose to rinse them! I want them to experience washing their hair in the rain, the wind on their faces as they ride a horse through an open field, and into the trails, to play with nature with the sun kissed noses, and come inside to a loving home, with food to nurture them and a warm bath, and retelling of their day to wind down, to be tucked under their favorite blanket, throw a kiss to the moon, and dream about more fun filled days. I want them to wake up to puppy kisses to start their day. To experience puppy breath! To know the love of an animal, and the responsibilities that come with it. To know that no matter what, that dog and their parents and siblings will always have their back! They'll always be willing to stand up for them, and protect them!
These should be given rights to all children. WHY is there even one child in this country worrying about safety, or where they'll get their next meal? THIS IS AMERICA! We aren't a 3rd world country! We don't have a normal culture of neglecting our vulnerable! Why when adults are given access to every program to better their lives, to improve their housing, their education, etc. is it abused? Why would anyone choose to be homeless? Why would anyone choose to sell a child? WTH is wrong?!?!
I've never traveled out of the USA. My husband was military and has told me brief stories about how some countries viewed having a girl over a boy. Of seeing those girls as an 'income' for the family. My mind can't fanthom. How can humans see this as ok? I'm tolerant of many cultures, but NO! Just NO! I will not, cannot accept that it's a cultural thing. People born and raised in USA know this is type situation is WRONG! They attend public schools where it's taught that anyone touching you in an area a bikini would cover is WRONG! There's access to teachers, counselors, principals for the innocent victims. People aren't raised to think this stuff is acceptable. No, they make a conscious effort to choose WRONG!
