AS was supposedly staying home with PS who skipped school due to his concussion, so there would have been at least three people in the home or two if AS stepped out and left PS in her care. This is why I wonder how long the kidnapping had been going on and if certain things were a ruse, like that PS didn't really need to miss school where for instance this could have been done on a Tuesday where if PS was at school he wouldn't be there and there wouldn't have been a reason for AS to have been home. Tuesday is the earliest I could see where only one person would be in the home.

It is a huge house with at least two-stories. I doubt AS would leave PS in Vera's care because it wasn't Vera's job to care for a sick child. But it is also possible that the perp waited until seeing AS leave to walk the dogs, run an errand, etc., before breaking in.
Anything possible at this point.

If he gave it to them they don;t need a warrant.

I called my attorney brother, who took over Dad's firm. He said LE still needs a warrant because of 'third party privacy' concerns.

I wonder what JW's explanation is to where the red bag is. After all it was he who said he took the money out of the red bag and placed it in a manila envelope which was in his car at the time. That would mean that he should still have the red bag. Doesn't it? Apparently not if LE is still looking for it.

Was wondering the same, wasn't the picture of the red bag and money taken together?

All that means is that the insider didn't escort the captors into the house. Unless it is the insider's boot. But assuming the insider wanted the crime to appear unrelated to an insider and for the family not to see him or her, it was in his or her best interest to make it look like (actually BE) a break in. If I made a deal with DW to hold my boss hostage so we could split the loot, I would definitely say, "Make it look like a break in." i always assumed the house was broken into by the intruders AND an insider was involved in the money part of it.

This is so frustrating as all reports, up until today's revelation about a kicked in french door, stated there was no evidence of forced entry!

The search warrant applications say the cellphones of Savvas and Amy Savopoulos and Figueroa were stolen. Police received permission to track the phones for 30 days, starting May 10, four days before the killings, trying to pinpoint the locations of the phones through cell towers.

If your dead it's difficult to sign the document authorizing consent...

We don't know if anyone had power of attorney for the deceased or identified as the executor of the estate; that individual would be the only one authorized to sign the authorization (and depending on jurisdiction, it can be a probate issue).

To obtain cellphone location records, warrant is needed ...

I believe that most detectives feel safer obtaining a warrant, JMO.
Or the customer can sign a legal authorization which can be used instead of a warrant

I guess RA didn't see the damage.

The husband of Veralicia Figueroa, the housekeeper who was killed alongside her employers in their DC mansion last week, has described the moment he went in vain to find his wife.

Bernardo Alfaro went to his wife's place of work on Embassy Row last Thursday after she didn't return home on Wednesday night and his calls went straight to voicemail.

After banging on the door with no answer, and aimlessly calling her phone, he walked round to look through a back window.

Was it at that point that SS called him? That would explain why DW had him make the call.

IIRC JW told LE he transferred the cash bundles from the bank into the red bag, contents of which he emailed as photo to his GF, and then left money in the designated car in a manila envelope. So why is LE getting an SW for the red bag? Possible I have misconstrued the various news stories. Not being lazy on purpose. I keep up with all threads, but so many news reports, wonder if any one here can enlighten me.

W1 may have handed the red bag over already. However, not known if LE has it:

<snip>

Authorities provided no explanation. In the search warrant application for the vehicles, police said they were looking for a red bag used to hold the ransom money, clothing ...Police have not said whether any of these items have been found.

I believe LE is still looking for the boots that match the boot print on the door:

<snip>

Detectives found a boot print and are searching for footwear that might match the tread pattern.

That's simply untrue. Most might be able to tell from the information I posted earlier regarding telecom data retention that I am quite knowledgeable in this specific area..."career wise". The authorization is legally bulletproof and has been used for years between telcoms and LE.

I am getting that from the poster who posted that info. The poster said it was in the SW doc. I have not checked the doc. That is why I was trying to confirm that he read that info and was not just speculating. He definitely worded his post as if he did read it. But I don't want to jump to any conclusions. Do you think IF they are looking for the red bag that there is any chance at all it might be the same bag with which the ransom money was delivered?

That is what the story has told so far...this new SW info with them looking for the bag may change that.

I am not sold on it being something sinister yet...need more info.

You know what?????
This post just gave me an "AH HA" moment!!
Let's just say AS was out running an errand while VF was home with PS.
And then DW kicked in the door. And the demanded that VF call AS to get her home to obtain whatever.
And THAT is when the Porsche was seen speeding wildly and erratically on Wednesday afternoon - trying to get home to her kidnapped son and housekeeper!!!!!
I could be way off. But this makes me think that is what happened...

But what would have stopped PS from using a phone to call for help unless he was severely incapacitated from his concussion? I'd think if PS was in such a severe state that AS wouldn't have left the house.

As far as Tuesday being a possibility. NO! SS was at work normally all day Wednesday.

Maybe he did, just I'm not aware of it being reported as such. AFAIK the details on Wednesday are vague that at some point in the day he went to dojo for some period of time, but I've heard nothing about him going to the office, which the closest to that is that some AIW employee at the dojo but no mention of any employees seeing him in the office or what he said to them while in the office. I'd think with the grand opening coming up that his day distinctly would have been abnormal and much of the source of information for what happened on Wednesday comes from unreliable NG.

IIRC he showed them the phone and that is when they saw that his initial statement that he was not contacted via SS cellphone until Th. a.m. contradicted the fact that a text msg. had been sent to him Wed. about 9 p.m. by SS, or from SS phone. JMO

Yes, it is very fair to think that the "red bag with ransom money" is indeed the red bag in question. That does NOT mean however what you wrote in your post.

Does a customer authorization cover 'third party privacy' concerns? I don't understand the ins and outs, but apparently it is one of the motivations for LE to get a legal SW as opposed to one person signing off.
What specific third party concerns are you referring to?

Edit:
As far as one's email, SMS, MMS, call history, browsing data (and deleted stuff), I outlined the required retention times for each and posted it about an hour ago.

Essentially, whether via authorization or search warrant, all that info is fair game.

Other employees have made statements that SS was at the Dojo.

PS was 10. He hears strange noises, and he might have been terrified. His bedroom might not have been in a place that he would have heard the breaking glass. I don't see actually a mention of PS's cell phone being mentioned in the SW, so likely he didn't have one - or it would have been mentioned. He may not have had an extension/cordless in his room.

Because PS didn't make a call for help does not prove anything, IMO.
