This article about Anita Drake, missing since Oct'63 from Louisville Ohio, mentions Hal Brown and this Jane Doe case, and implies that they are looking at her as a possible.

“When you have a young woman found dead along the road in Delaware in the ’60s, she’s somebody’s daughter, spouse, mom, sister. ...,” Brown said. “As we look outside the box, we scour the Internet for potential matches and even look to such things as

ancestry.com, where people list the ancestries of their families. We find cases in there where a family member has gone missing and no one knows where they are.”

She does have a reasonable resemblance to Miss X, but I don't think she is.

So here did she go for four years? She does look similar to the recon, but that's a while to go missing for.

The faces look remarkably similar, but the picture makes Ms. Drake look much smaller-busted than Jane Doe (from the autopsy photos and articles mentioning her bustiness as a feature that people might have noticed).

Pregnancy, even in the early stages, can enlarge one's breasts, sometimes significantly.

Find myself thinking about this case more often. Do we have a list of rule-outs? Someone mentioned earlier that one was being compiled by the investigator. Wondering if Anita Drake had been ruled out or any others.

She's from pretty far away and we're talking 5'2 vs. 5'7, but the resemblance is pretty good, isn't it?

Any updates on this case? Have they ruled out Darlene or Anita?

It doesn't look like either of them is on the ruleouts list.

The following people have been ruled out as being this decedent:

First Name Last Name Year of Birth State LKA

Ida Anderson 1937 Michigan
Audrey Backeberg 1942 Wisconsin
Linda Britton 1944 Ohio
Peggy Byars-Baisden 1941 Florida
Brenda Howell 1943 California
Johanna Johanna de Haas 1936 Delaware
Lynn Luray 1948 California
Pamela Nater 1946 Florida
Donnis Redman 1943 California
Mary Ann Switalski 1946 Illinois
Mary Ann Verdecchia 1951 Pennsylvania

There's a file in her case that I hadn't seen before, from a 1967 press release (it looks like it's been there and I just didn't notice it). In documents, it's called "NamUs UP7097_artist retouched images & descr of body". It has a different image of her face both forward and profile.

:bump: for revision to Miss X's facial reconstruction.

I like Alice Reeves as a potential match so much that I've emailed the idea to Pamela Reed at Namus. I imagine that Darlene Polizzi of New Jersey has been discounted since her page says she went missing over a month after the body was found: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/18331/0

Regarding the New Jersey laundry link, Darlene Polizzi is the only missing New Jersey woman I can find close to the March '67 time - I'm wondering if her last-seen date is misreported. I think her chin and jawline look pretty close so I mentioned her too in the email. Her height is given as one inch higher than the UID.

I typed Alice Reeve's middle name wrong above, it's Marie not Maria. Her date of birth is given as 10th June 1947 at Nampn: http://www.nampn.org/cases/reeves_alice.html

Searching the full correct name, it seems Alice gave up a child for adoption in 1963:

Birth Mother Details

First Name Alice
Middle Name Marie
Last Name Reeves
Nick Name Kitty
Maiden Name Reeves
Birth Date Jun 10, 1947

Birth Mother's Age at Adoption 16
Adoption Location Lake Charles, Louisiana
http://registry.adoption.com/records/165568.html

Giving up one child for adoption at age 16 is perhaps consistent with trying to avoid giving birth to another one a few years later.

Darlene Polizzi may well have been murdered so I think Alice Reeves is a better candidate:

Alice is as good a possible match as I've ever seen and the dates line up. In her picture though, it looks like he has a little gap between her front teeth & it doesn't look Jane Doe does, though the sketch could be off. Hopefully you'll hear something back soon.

Did you PM the daughter who is looking for her? Maybe she can submit DNA to Delaware.
