Why the movie theatre?

A dark theater with a large amount of unsuspecting victims - and the midnight premiere of that particular movie. The perfect storm........in his mind.

MOO

I would like to know more about the program JH was in.

My program is small; only 6 of us started the year I did. We were very tight-knit and not competitive with each other. We studied a lot together, which was a lifesaver for me, as I didn't have much background in chemistry and had to work very hard to catch up. Even when I was sure I was in over my head, it kept me from becoming isolated or giving up. I really don't know if I would've stuck with it if I hadn't had that kind of support during my first year.

Good for you. You should be very proud of yourself. Our Society is so big in so many ways things just are unnoticed.

You can also listen to the show and discuss it here on the thread, but we will be monitoring the chat room and not Websleuths during the show.

:grouphug:

Was there not a trailer for the movie showing the Joker opening fire in a theater?

I'd like to add that grad school isnt an idyllic place either...lots of injustices, real or otherwise, to perceive. I'd like to know what kind of relationship, if any, J had with his mentor. ("If any" because programs differ on exactly when a student starts to work closely with a mentor and shift his primary focus from class work to research.)

Yes Holmes' advisor/mentor in his Doctoral program would likely have a strong general opinion about him and his chronological behavior, backed by at least a few face to face consultations. JH's behavior or his perceived attitude in the classroom setting can say alot about his recent condition or state of mind. IMO if he was able to confine his growing plot and outward appearance to appear normal and free from any sort of mania, then all fingers point to him being a true psychopath.

His mentor might be state's witness right now. We probably won't hear from him until around trial time.

Maybe he isn't a psychopath? Maybe he just decided one day it'd be really awesome to kill people? That doesn't mean he didn't care about his family or friends or whatever. He just had a fantasy that he chose to go through with.

Great post. Sums it up in my mind.

I don't think many people who graduated college would be happy flipping burgers at McDonalds.

While he may have worked at McDonalds, I doubt he had much tenure. What I am saying is I really do not think he had to or did for any real length of time.

Clearly money was not an issue by his purchases.

He worked at McDonalds after graduating from college. Because he could not find a better job, he chose to go back to school. Once he went back to school, he received a stipend. That is the money he used to make his purchases. So, while working at McDonalds, money WAS an issue.

Yah...tho in some programs a student might not have chosen a mentor until partway thru the 2nd year. That's how it is at my school. But because we are a small program, we had lots of contact with the program director that first year.

Kinda the definition of a Psychopath minus ever caring about anyone. They are chameleons remember. Great at showing whatever emotion needed at a given time.

Is Tenure not granted after the PHD? And no guarantee of when? Confused here on the Tenure. Confused how it works in your Education System.

I do not think so, if you look at his lifestyle, purchasing prostitutes over the years, money did not seem to be an issue for him, Maybe he got cut off from Daddy's payroll but money was fairly easy to come by, not just student loans.

Thank you. :blushing: I am, lol. But I also know how lucky I was to have really smart, kind classmates.

Bad choice of words on my part, I meant his tenure at McDonalds, really meant to say I am sure he was not in their employment too long.
