....I guess Jodi found out that killing a human is a lot more difficult than killing the family pet.

SBM

I'm remembering a true crime book I read many years ago about a young girl murdered by two boys. They tried several different ways to kill her - including slashing her neck like Jodi did Travis - and found out it wasn't as easy as it looked in the movies. It's hard to imagine the rage inside her towards Travis.

??? How would anybody know if the gun jammed ? They never even found the gun.
We don't steelman, and that's for sure, but I think just applying common sense tells us that something caused her to stop shooting him and that's just one theory. Others have good points like the huge sound a gun would make in such a closed in area.

I'm not married to either gunshot first or last, I have reasons to think either could be true given the scene but I do think he was fighting back when she stabbed at his front, there's a stab to his center front base of his neck (best seen in the profile view of neck at autopsy) and one (as we view them) lower to left, also one across his left nipple and the belly slash. None of those were 'successful' stabs but he had to have been facing her when they occurred and likely when he received the defensive hand wounds, so those make me wonder if he could have been stunned by a gunshot first - a stungun possibly but less likely a gunshot to his brain, imo.

Also the blood all over the hallway walls, he had to have been on his feet for it to have been everywhere, and then sliding down the wall and making the 'rainbow'. I believe on the light switch above the rainbow is more blood (I think it was in the 48 Hours program that showed the scene after luminol was sprayed and it showed up well then). I also think she got him on the floor near the toilet closet and delivered some of the back stabs, there's a blood pool (showing his front had been bleeding heavily) and spatter there (and on the window blinds and waste can in the corner) that's hard to account for otherwise. But I also don't think she could get the drop on him in the shower without some kind of disabling, for the moment I think I'll hedge around the stungun and see if that works into the scene as a whole.

Because a gunshot would have been too impersonal, quick and painless. She was filled with rage and hatred and wanted to eviscerate him and watch him die helplessly crawling, like a slaughtered animal. I think she got into a frenzy of enjoyment plunging the knife into his flesh over and over again. it was very personal and gave her a feeling of power over him.

Reminds me of when I read Helter Skelter many years ago. One of the gals said that stabbing a person was like stabbing a pillow and the more you do it the better you feel. Or something of that nature. Gave me the shudders, and I believe Jodi enjoyed every moment of stabbing him, just as she has enjoyed every moment of trashing him in her trial. It's OK though. There is a maker she will answer to and He knows all. She cannot buffalo the Creator of the Universe and she will have to answer to Him also. AFTER her punishment at Perryville. I heard Estrella is air conditioned, but Perryville not so much and she is going at a prime time when it will be getting nothing but hotter hahahahaha!

How do you think she was able to get a stab wound deep into the center of his chest while he was seated in the shower?

I am genuinely curious.... as I just can't visualize this given where and how he was sitting in relation to where she would be standing, and also since she is left-handed.

I think he was standing when she stabbed him. Maybe that caused him to slump down to the sitting position? I don't have all the answers but I do not believe she stabbed him while he was seated. I think he forced himself to get up and out of the shower to the sink and that is when I believe she started stabbing him in the back. I think he fell when trying to get away and that is when she slit his throat like "oh no you don't you are NOT getting away from ME!" But I could be totally wrong. There are only 2 people that know what happened and one of them is dead and the other is a liar. I would never believe her story no matter what. Because she always lies, just like Travis said.

One other thing, if she had been stabbing him in the back while he was standing at the sink, there would have been spatter all over the tub and wall (behind the sink), I've not seen any spatter except for the area closest to the toilet closet so imo the back stabbing happened elsewhere (at toilet closet opening and maybe if he had been able to flee down the hallway).

All these theories are possible IMO. And it's great convo to discuss and it's made me look at things from a different angle and I know think either scenario is plausible. We will just never know.

Not who you asked, but I always thought he went to get up and had to use his hands, and she took that moment of surprise to attack. He was already somewhat up and then was able to stumble out of the shower towards the sink. That's how I picture it anyway.

That is a good point- he would be distracted, focused on grabbing onto the shower edge to pull himself up from the sitting position, which would give her some access to start stabbing his body before he could reach up to protect himself.

I wonder how long it is from the last photo of him seated to the one where the camera drops... that little window of time is the moments her attack began.

edit- I just scrolled back to look at the shower pics- the last one of him sitting is at 5:30:30 and the next one, which is of the ceiling, is at 5:31:14 - so he went from sitting to the camera being dropped out her hands in 44 seconds.

Beth Karas has copies of LE reports cataloging items seized from the homes of Arias' parents and grandparents. The silencer was found at her parents' home.

Please reference quote above:

I know we can't link to BK's site but this is why links are so important. JA never had the silencer. It was found at her parent's home, along with their 9mm gun. So please, if you are presenting information as fact check first to see if you can find a link otherwise it becomes a rumor that grows legs. Big legs. :overreaction:

I agree with you...I think the sounds she heard from Travis was the death rattle...There is know way IMO that Travis survived that slit throat.

Hmmm. so maybe she DID shoot him first and then he gets up and comes out of the shower and (hence her linebacker story twist) and then she plunges the knife into him and the camera drops. One thing we can say is that she was prepared with multiple weapons. Who does that?

"The women at Lumley are allowed at least one hour of daily exercise time for up to six days a week. Each woman may shower once a day for up to six days a week.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies eventually will transport Arias roughly 23 miles from the courthouse to the prison as soon as Stephens pronounces her sentence. She will be delivered to an intake area at the north gate, about 200 feet from the main entrance.

There, inmates are issued orange prison clothing and a T-shirt, and have their mug shot taken. Arias will undergo medical, mental and dental examinations, according to prison officials. Her picture will be placed outside her cell door for correctional officers to make positive ID.

She will be allowed one visit of up to two hours per week. There can be no physical contact, and visitors must be approved by the Department of Corrections. An inmate's family may visit during that time.

Initially, Arias will be allowed one 15-minute phone call per week, monitored by prison officials.

Privileges, such as recreation time, can increase based on an inmate's behavior.

After two years, Arias could be moved to a close-custody unit, which is less restrictive.

The biggest difference is that Arias could be moved to a two-bunk cell and have a roommate. She also would be allowed to be escorted to an eating area with other inmates. Three years later, she could be moved to medium custody, where she could live in a dormitory environment with 10 or more inmates and would be able to work, according to a prison spokesman."

And I think a lot of theory is from her ninja story, where she describes the gun going off but nothing coming out, when the male ninja pointed the gun at her head.

I read her letter to Travis' family last night and she goes into great detail of how the "NINJA'S" attacked... It was helpful in picturing how SHE carried out her attack.

Air escaping from his lungs the death rattle, that is why she shot him last she probably thought he was still alive.

And now I have the question: "Why do the elder Arias' have a 9mm and matching silencer?" I get the gun, but a silencer? Uh, fishy. No legitimate need ever for a silencer - that's why they're illegal. Interesting. Was Bill charged, probably not, wonder why not.

And I'm sure she was telling him why she was doing it the whole time... "and this one is for...this, and this one is for...that!" VERY angry and She is really some kind of crazy. Shooting him would have been too easy IMHO. I think she wanted to feel the knife going into him and hurt him as much as she believed he had hurt her.

It would be interesting to add up the number of offenses she accuses TA of in her testimony and compare it to the number of stab wounds (29, right?)... You bring up a good point, can you imagine if the number matched?!
