Sounds like most of the plane wreckage is resting on the seabed. Had to read between the lines and read backwards to deduce that it is on the seabed and the ship "Lethbridge" found it with their underwater remote control units. Deep Ocean Search got the contract and "Lethbridge" is the ship they must have directed out.

in the article we have these parts and am organizing them in the order to make that conclusion.....

"Searchers plan to map the wreckage's distribution on the seabed."

"A vessel contracted by the Egyptian government to join the search “identified several main locations of the wreckage" and the first images of the wreckage were provided to the investigation committee, the Associated Press reported."

"The Egyptian government contracted with Deep Ocean Search to send the ship John Lethbridge to the scene with a remote-controlled underwater vehicle "

How honest and forthcoming will the Egytians be in releasing the data of what happened? Are they required to release the full I nterpretation? Or will France be the authoritative body?

Good question.

I don't get a warm fuzzy that they will be totally honest about things.

It is sad but true. Employees getting pressure to cut corners.

Terrible and should be criminal.

agreed,

one other thing i forgot to say (unable to edit my previous post now)

his boss never came out and said this directly, but would "hint" that its actually cheaper for the airline to "lose a plane" every 5-10 years as opposed to taking the time to do proper mainantance and repairs,

I wonder if we'll ever get to see those images.
Thanks everyone for your updates

i have a friend who is an airline mechanic, i will not name the company he worked for, he said corners are cut all the time on repairs, he was forced to do dangerous repairs that he knew were not safe, he ended up quitting his job because he could not handle the guilt anymore, about 8-12 months after he quit his job that same carrier (a very large well known company) had a very serious accident, and the cause was concluded as "mechanical failure"

his boss would say straight out to him "these planes don't make money on the ground", and for every hour a plane is in the shop it cost the company about $50,000

I hope it's not an American company, not that I've flown since 2006. Any company employee that knowingly puts planes back in the sky with sub-par repairs should have to sit on every plane ride.

This won't be popular at all. The whole avionics industry needs an overhaul, among many other areas of communications in the world.

jmo

Won't be popular with who? Not sure if I mentioned that hub and I watched Why Planes Crash a few days after this plane went down, it wasn't long ago that each pilot had duties and those duties were not communicated to each other. If the pilot watching fuel was running low, he would beat around the bush saying it, he wouldn't directly tell the captain. One plane over seas crashed because of it, can't recall what country. Things changed after the crash to where now the pilots work together but back then, not so much. I'm sure more changes/ improvement are still needed.

I highly suggest everyone watch a few episodes of Why Planes Crash

Thanks everyone for the updates !
Hoping for some solid answers for the families.
My .02 is that this was faulty mechanics and the airline needs to make some changes asap.

It wouldn't surprise me if you're right.

The mapper received a message from the owner of JL, DOS, more or less saying there is a contract for this search & it's not being tracked due to the requirements of the contract. Other ships/vessels searching have changed names on Marine Traffic tracking site also. There has to be a good reason, you would think? Mapper says he can tell they are making progress despite all the secrecy, name changing & disappearences, reappearances of ships/vessels helping in the search.

Take this for what it's worth. It's about the only news since June 1st about finding MH804. Also mentioned it's a rough neighborhood meaning the search location. Would that be pirates? Immigrant smugglers? Mafia? hmmm

KAL 007 the ironies of being James Bond!

You know what they did. This was Russia and USA fight. They lied to the world for like 15 years. The found the recorders and put em in a safe.

Then I think it Gorbchaf not sure, did the big reveal in order to improve out relationships

Russia shot down a 747 with a miissle and said it was on a spy mission.

It really blows me away that they found an oil slick, "body parts" and other items, yet they have not found the wreckage? I can't believe how secretive they're being, especially since they have not released the passenger list as you said.

What is truly bothersome here, is French are in the investagation. They are top notch. Like the Metro Jet they can get away with this BS, but I really dont understand why stuff has not been more transparent they are super

ALERT Memory units from the crashed #MS804 flight recorders are damaged and will take a "long time" to fix (@reuters) - @NewsHazbail

They sure looked better than Germanwings did, but I know nothing about extracting data from a black box that's orange...

Unbelievable and I agree, convenient! Maybe they should give them to specialists in the US so they can extract the data that it was their fault the plane went down. The world is watching them and not liking what they see. I really hope business is stalled.

Investigators examine damaged EgyptAir black boxes

It would require "lots of time and effort" to fix the two badly damaged black box recorders, sources on Egypt's Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee told Reuters on Sunday.

The committee said it started the analysis of the devices, with representatives from France and the United States, which are crucial to explaining why the Airbus A320 crashed on May 19 en route from Paris to Cairo.

The memory units from both the Cockpit Voice Recorder and the Flight Data Recorder were extracted from the devices and dried in a military facility for eight hours, the committee said in a statement.

Investigators are now conducting electrical tests on the memory units, the final step before trying to extract data.

If intact, the cockpit recorder should reveal pilot conversations and any cockpit alarms, as well as other clues such as engine noise. But crash experts say it may provide only limited insight into the reason for the crash.

Thankful to see other countries are included. We may actually get to know something if they get it going. So either a bomb or the plane broke up, I will be shocked if it's a bomb

LOL Good luck with that. lol Honesty? LOL Egyptians Honest? LOL Too funny. LOL

Egypt investigators to finish repairing crashed jet's black box memory units in hours

Egyptian aviation investigators will finish on Monday repairing memory units from the black box recorders of an EgyptAir flight that crashed into the Mediterranean last month, a senior investigation official said.

The repairs will be complete "within hours" after which the committee will be able to determine how easy it will be to extract the data, said the official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak.

The data recorder, provided its memory chip is in good condition, will offer investigators a greater chance of determining the cause.
