And I am sure, whether Terri was involved or not, she already tried to convince Desiree and everyone else that she was not involved and they did not believe her.

I'm not sure that Terri has tried to convince anyone of anything. Terri lawyered up very quickly and stopped talking.

In an interview Kaine stated that Terri's story was constantly changing.

Very succinctly put. From your perspective, do you think it would be fair to say that so far, there apparently isn't enough evidence for LE to arrest and charge TH?

My opinion, though I'm not grandmaj...

The DA may have sufficient evidence to charge her. But there are strategic reasons for not charging a person as soon as the evidence is gathered.

One of the reasons that a DA may not wish to charge Terri immediately is the 6th Amendment, a portion of which guarantees the defendant he right to a speedy trial, should the defendant invoke the sixth. With Terri being represented by Houze, LE and the DA will want to build a solid case.

There is no statute of limitation on capital murder. So investigators and the DA can take all the time they wish to make their case airtight. No defendant's-rights clock is ticking as it will be as soon as they charge and arrest her.

As grandmaj said, no one in the public knows how much evidence there is. We've only received a hit of what LE has: Gates said they have "tons."

Just because we, the public, don't have access to evidence doesn't mean that it's not there. Unlike us, Desiree does have access to the investigation and she and Kaine are being updated at least weekly on where it stands.

I do agree that Desiree should quit talking to Terri at the pressers, but not for the same reason as you. I don't like seeing Desiree pleading for Terri to come clean because I think that Terri gets off on seeing Desiree's misery.

All my opinion.

But we don't know how much access they have. And we don't know exactly what LE is or is not sharing with them.

In fact, in the past, LE has disavowed any relation to some of their statements. In fact, our archives contain information about an official press release to that effect.

So I don't think that KH & DY have access to all the details. JMO, of course.

Easy to do, I know, but we are getting off track in here now. If you'd like to open a new thread and discuss what LE might or might not be doing behind the scenes, please feel free. I, for one, would be interested in that kind of speculation.

But Desiree's presser wasn't about that, so let's get back to discussing the presser. If there is nothing left to post, I'll close the thread.

Before this is closed would someone mind reposting the link that Calliope mentioned in which you can hear the reporters' questions? TIA...

The way I view this case is that they have evidence but perhaps do not know the whole story. For example, maybe they know about one persons involvement but there are still some pieces missing. With a 60 day window for speedy trial I don't see them moving forward until they are confident that the theory they are working has all of the missing pieces in place.

An arrest in my mind does not equate to lack of evidence. It equates to putting the whole picture together. If Terri is the person LE suspects, I believe based on the fliers etc., they believe Terri didn't act alone.

Wasn't the statement that once Terri got her lawyer, that she was cooperating, but it "changed the way we can communicate with her"? I haven't seen anything about it since then. It was the good looking one.....Jason Gates? I think.

IIRC, it was the long interview with Stanton. I forgot which news outlet interviewed him though. KOIN maybe?

Terri hasn't talked since obtaining her lawyer House.

Thanks so much for the reminder, Kimster. Alert as always!

I have more to say on this thread. But first, may I just say that I appreciate GrandmaJ's post?

"We don't know if there is evidence or not. LE is not releasing any evidence to the public. We cannot say as fact either there is or isn't evidence. We don't know. "

Succinct and incisive!

Oh interesting and I will have to ruminate on all this. thanks for giving me something else to think about rather than doing my taxes LOL.
But a couple things right off the top of my head, calling a press conference is a a common phrase and in my experience,"calling a presser" is a pretty typical. So, I cannot read into it what you are and entitlement is not something I am picking up on.
I do agree with you that she should not expect to hear from the grandparents. IMO, it's not necessarily weird thinking, it's just hopeful thinking; that perhaps they would want to support Kyron as much as their daughter. But as an outsider looking in, I concur that that would be very difficult for them and not to be expected at all. But again entitlement does not spring to mind. Maybe she feels Kyron is entitled to everyone's help? not sure but it is surely an interesting angle.
DY strikes me as the type that does not need KH's blessing to do a press conference so I applaud her for speaking out on her own. She wants to find her boy. I don't doubt that she has some resentment towards kaine and I agree with you on that.
Just thinking that the woman he chose could possibly have done something to her son is, well overwhelming for anyone. I can only imagine what she may be feeling, but nothing she does is scary to me.

good post, thanks for answering my question.

Hi, JBean, and thank you for your reply. I just wanted to let you know I'm ruminating on this :cow: and plan to get back to you once despicable chores are done. (I should apologize for the awful pun, but I'm feelin' mischievous, so I won't. Ahem.)

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't sleep at all last night after watching DY's presser yesterday.

It really bothered me to see her standing there all by herself, when she was clearly in need of support. She looked more vulnerable and terrified than I have ever seen her, and she appeared to be drawing upon what may be her remaining reservoirs of strength.

I feel that (among other reasons) she called for the presser in order to maintain some semblance of control over a situation in which she truly has little to no control.

It must have been extremely disappointing for her to learn that the Beaverton LE and the Gresham PD will not be able to lend a hand on the task force, and I, for one, am disappointed (to put it mildly) in Sheriff Staton for announcing the formation of the task force before he had secured the commitments of the other agencies. IMO, it was premature on his part.

It's no wonder DY felt compelled to hold a presser so suddenly yesterday.

Her words "I don't know what else to do..." are still echoing in my head.

ITA Sorrell Skye...so very vulnerable...it was painful to watch.

The only thing that trumps money is true love...or honesty.

Very true...or the fear of spending some time in prison.

The family did say they would be giving a press conference every Thursday--maybe Desiree was just very ticked off that Kaine did/could not make a press conference this week--when news of reducing staff came at last Friday's press conference...:furious:and news that one town will not be participating came after that.

Wasn't the statement that once Terri got her lawyer, that she was cooperating, but it "changed the way we can communicate with her"? I haven't seen anything about it since then. It was the good looking one.....Jason Gates? I think.

LOL Debs! I find him attractive too. ;)

Oh wow...

I don't know if Terri is guilty or not and from my computer chair, with my child safe and in the living room, It's easy for me to say I wouldn't be pointing a finger at Terri, her friends, or her parents if I were in Desiree's shoes. However, if my child was missing, I would say and do anything at all to get my child back - kick open the gates of hell and wrestle down Satan himself - to bring my baby home.

God bless Desiree, I can't even imagine and I don't want to. I hope they find Kyron soon.
