Did anyone else find it weird that Dolan kept saying to Omari "Why don't you tell them about that." ? It seemed almost like a schtick, or like I was watching two buddies discuss events. Something was just weird to me. jmo

I can imagine after that raw video, there was a bit more rehearsal in prep for this.

So who is going to care for her over the next 12 hours? Nurses at CHO have been massaging her, filing her IV, monitoring her etc. Can a nurse or doctor here say whether not having these needs met for 12 hours until she arrived at the new facility is likely to have an impact?

[not a doctor] I read that as she would be all set up and ready to live/recover/rest (?) at her destination in 12 hours, not necessarily that there wouldn't be nurses helping her until she got to this destination. IMO. I dunno!

This will fuel fire to those that think hospitals kill people with brain damage but who are still alive for their organs.

I wonder how does organ donation work? I thought they had to ask permission of the next of kin?

in oz you could be a donor (is in your driver's license) but, yes, your family could be asked and refuse. i would prefer to have a system like the spanish in which everyone is considered an organ donor.
and yes, i am a donor. i don't drive but my partner and my kids are aware of my decision.

my ex received a kidney from his mother (live donation). he was extremely lucky.

This is what I'm wondering too! How can they add her to the database without consulting the family? JMO I believe the line that the family didn't know, is completely untrue.

Dec 16th: "The family told KTVU that as of Monday evening there was no decision yet on whether to donate McMath's organs for transplant."

(BBM.) I infer from this statement that the family was considering donation. This was on the 16th, 4 days after she was declared brain dead the first time.

Yes, I'm so glad that those poor PICU staff are free of that awful family. Not to mention the other patients and their poor families. I can't imagine the venom coming out of the parents and lawyers mouths in private if what we hear in public is anything to go by.

And the fact that they're so distressed - as per court documents - by caring for a deceased child but then hearing they're hateful, awful people that others are relieved to hear Jahi has escaped from their clutches... makes it even worse.

I've read that CHO has excellent facilities for mental health so hopefully the nurses will be cared for by their employer. Judging by all the services offered to the McMath family, they have a lot to offer.

Probably just prompting him to tell more in accordance with his role in the script.

#JahiMcMath has been taken from hospital and brought her to a place where they will use her name instead of calling her a body - attorney

This case has led to us having a family discussion about donating organs, plus my husband and I will update our wills ASAP. We have teenagers: one who has been open about organ donation in the past, but the other was a bit young last time we spoke about it. I barely got the sentence out before he said he knew what it was and wanted to be one if he dies. DH and I need to have explicit instructions re life support written into our wills.

New York facility says its ready to accept #JahiMcMath and provide 24 hour care despite coroner's death cert http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/05/health...ead/?c=&page=3 …

"At this time we're named as the potential facility that Jahi and her family will be coming to, but we will know more details in a couple of hours, and we'll certainly be happy to let you know as we know," said Allyson Scerri, founder of the New Beginnings Community Center in Medford, New York.

They can't. It's just another smear campaign on Dolan's part IMO. I will be happy to eat my words if he provides proof that they did it but as far as I know it isn't possible.

So... Where does everyone think she is at the moment?

btw, those who were seeing where this was going wrt "not feeding" Jahi were right on. He fired that shot in the first couple of sentences. jmo
