Personally, I don't think he killed anyone and that his involvement was covering up at best but that's absolutely my opinion. I click on this thread to follow developments specifically about Burke and I find it harder to do so when there's posts about theories and other cases that don't pertain to him. I think perhaps hodge podge thread, one killer or more, possible connections between the gb4 and other murders might be better suited to your theories and might also have been discussed before. My opinion, and I've stated it so I'll stop posting about it since it's also off topic
I'm curious as to why you don't think the extent of Burke's involvement in the case was more than the cover up piece. Let's play along and assume that your theory is in fact correct and that he was not involved in the killings. If he were the chief of police of a department that just so happened to stumble upon over ten dead bodies found, wouldn't he want to investigate the case and have as much outside help (e.g. FBI) as possible. I think in that case he would because he would want the case to be solved because it would make him (as the chief of police, as the leader of the department and the investigation) look good. It's very hard to imagine that his intentions in prohibiting the FBI from entering the case were not malicious. It's also very hard to imagine that him prohibiting the FBI from entering the case was the extent of his involvement. He really would have no reason to prohibit their involvement unless of course he himself was involved in the case.

Or...if investigation of the LISK case would by proxy expose something indirectly related to the case - such as running illegal prostitution rings, etc. which would have direct consequences for JB. Derail the investigation and his nefarious activities remain under wraps.

This is exactly what I think. At some point I thought he might be directly involved, and it certainly wouldn't SHOCK me but I think this is a much more likely scenario. The bodies of 4 escorts show up in an area he is said to have used escorts, among other things. I'm sure he wanted the investigation as far away from him as possible. Maybe he used one/more of the GB4. I don't really know, it's all speculation. And I really don't think he gave a rats *advertiser censored* about looking good. Clearly performance had nothing to do with his rise through the department, so why start now?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If it was up to you we'd only be talking about possibly prostitution along side battery. What is the point of the thread then?

Even worse. If he knew about the bodies. Told officers to shut up as his gang disposed of his drug dealing escort crew, as example, then you have a massive cover up. He doesn't have to kill anyone to be involved. It was either Pride not letting the FBI in or a cover up.

I do not believe Long Island and Gilgo 4 are linked but Gilgo 4 and Atlantic may be. Check the map out. Those bodies of the 4 were found by investigators before Asian Male. How did they manage this? They must have walked right over him to get to them.

There is an escort on another website who said it was well know Gilbert took something very strong on the night in question. If her body showed nothing you have very deep corruption.

I am unsure how this response is related to my comment. What is the train of thought at work here if any?

The point being you are mentioning prostitution, what if the escorts were being used as drug curriers?

I don't know why you're making assumptions about what I think. The point of this thread is to talk about Burke and things pertaining to him. Earlier, documentaries, Atlantic City and even specifically a sketch of a POI there who you thought was Hackett (PH) were talked about. After several of those types of threads with no mentions of Burke I failed to see the connection and thought it was better suited for a different thread.

You are obsessed with James Burke. To the point if there is no direct evidence linking him to women who have been hurt then case closed. All I am suggesting is there are more than one way to skin a cat. Get an associate of his and you might have him.

Her body showed nothing because it was skeletal remains. I've never seen anywhere where toxicology tests on skeletal remains showed if the person was under the influence when they died, but I'm also not a doctor or a scientist so if there's research out there saying otherwise then I stand corrected. And now back to James Burke

Well that's news to me that I'm obsessed with Burke. But at least we are talking about him in the right thread!

God forgive me and with all due respect, if someone solves the mystery of the LISK killer does it matter if they write it on my *advertiser censored* , SHERLOCK KNOWS *advertiser censored* or the Jon Beniot board, you are getting hung up on pettiness! It's a moot point and it does not matter in the whole picture.

Or friends or colleagues of his he felt loyal too.

I find this ABC story interesting. We all know what Dormer said, I just found it interesting, without knowing for certain who somebody was, he was sure Gilbert had nothing to do with LISK.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/shannan-gilberts-skeletal-remains-believed-found/story?id=15145498

Basically, nosey Parker Dormer, finds the bodies no one wanted found, says there's a serial killer, only one mind, and this is it.

"After an exhaustive, methodical, massive search, we have this day at approximately 9:14 a.m. located a set of skeletal remains we believe at this time to be the missing Shannan Gilbert," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer said at a news conference.

Dormer said that while authorities believe the remains to be Gilbert's, they will not know for sure until the medical examiner completes an autopsy. Dormer said the cause of death is currently unknown."

Further down the piece he says something strange. He believes Gilbert has nothing to do with the other cases. This is odd because unless he has thoroughly investigated the area in an hour, found no DNA on her clothes found all over the place matching hers, how can he state this? He is not sure if her bones have any trauma to them does he? It's like. Look I ****ed up guys but I'll make it right. But too late. You are going anyway bye bye.

"Our theory is that this is a coincidence. She went missing in Oak Beach and this has nothing to do with the serial killer," Dormer has said.

Thanks for supporting my opinions on Dormer, i.e. he is an idiot and probably a liar. His mumble-jumble about SG supports that in many ways. He went on the record as saying SG probably drowned when there is no evidence to support that, then and to this very day.

What we do know the GB4 gals were sex workers and advertised their wares on Craigs List. They were all murdered and found near the body of SG. We know SG went to Brewer's house after answering a call on Craigslist. We know she ran out of Brewer's house screaming: "They're are going to kill me." We know a detective wrote a letter to Newsday stating he heard the call and said nothing she said indicated to him she felt her life was in danger. We now know the Chief of Detectives has said otherwise. We know the SCPD will not release that tape citing some obscure SC County law that 911 tapes cannot be produced. We should know that is BS. Then we hear that releasing such a tape could compromise the investigation - which is it?

Hey I have quick question with regards to the SC 911 call law, and pardon my ignorance in the matter. Does it matter at all she gave her location as Jones beach (which is nassau county, right?) and their reasoning for taking so long to actually get to oak beach was they dispatched state police elsewhere? Which also seems bogus...

Could they not beep out anything which could compromise the investigation, or by saying this are they not admitting they have a definite line of enquiry?

Did anyone move there, to Oak Beach 20 years ago, or are they all there forever, locals like? One of them kills for the others if this is what is happening. Strangulation is an experienced man's game. A nutter. Could be the boy from Atlanta moved north?

It doesn't.. It's all bull.
