I'm am angry that this poor little angel is gone. He didn't have enough time to experience so many wonderful places and things. I hope Heaven is beautiful and he is smiling. I will bite my tongue and not cast judgement but just the fact that a 3 yo was left to fend for himself while step mom was sleeping?? If that is what really happened.

bbm

Hmmmm -- didn't think about his being left "alone" while she was sleeping -- then I thought that maybe he got into something or ate or drank something that hurt him -- but LE said "homicide" so I guess he didn't harm himself. If I read correctly, one news article said that the stepmom's brothers were living in the home? What about them?

Caring for a young baby -- always hungry, maybe fussy, there's always something -- can be tiring & frustrating. Couple that with a 3-year old always wanting to play or have a banana or getting into something -- no help -- could be more than some folks can handle. Just thinking...

His sweet smile fooled me. I really thought his family was not harming him and he had just gotten lost by running off. :sigh:

It is so hard to keep reading cases that end like this. :rose:

Yes, you're so right. I'll have to say it again -- there are too many little angels in Heaven, but they are happy and playing and eating ice cream and running in pure air and flying around when they want to and they always have peaceful and happy dreams. No fear, no pain, no tummy-aches -- only love and joy.

Another thing that helps -- for every one of these horrors that we see, there are thousands of children who do live in loving homes with high hopes and loving people around them. I try to think about that, too.

Now all we can wish for here for Ahizya is justice. And we will be his witnesses.

Court records show Ahizya's father and step-mother, Analiz Rodenzo Osceola both also have had several previous arrests, but none related to the welfare of a child.

Chief Fernandez with Hollywood Police Department says this case will remain a criminal investigation "until proven otherwise."

He says it is an exhaustive process that will include interviewing multiple people. They're also working to determine why the first 911 call was made initially to the Seminole tribe police, who reportedly later reported the missing child to Hollywood Police Department who has jurisdiction.

I think the actual name is Rodezno, though.

Growing up in Florida I have become aware that members of the Seminole tribe do not always deal with Florida LE (or other state offices ie DCF). I'm guessing that they do not recognize that they have jurisdiction over their members. I remember a case here in Pinellas where parents where accused of child neglect years ago and the Seminole Tribe stepped in when DCF took the kids and demanded that they be returned because of this. The kids where returned. So they must have some clout. The criminal investigation for this poor baby is in the jurisdiction of Hollywood, Florida and I hope that the tribe does not interfere and cause issues with the investigation.

I am just so devastated about yet another sweet baby killed by the people who are meant to care for them.
I read yesterday about a woman who chained her grandchildren I think to a washer with dog collars.

Sometimes I just have to leave WS because I can not for the life of me imagine any of this. EVER. I look at my kids and think, WHO COULD EVER HURT THEM LIKE THAT?! Why is it that if a stranger does this, They are punished by parents are given chance after chance to do it over and over and sometimes finally kill them.

I can not understand how a baby can make you want to hurt them. It just does not register with me. It breaks me.

I hope that whoever killed him, dad, stepmom.. Whoever never ever sees the light of day again.

Many thanks for the local details, Sleuthster. It is always a big help to have some local folks along with us out-of-town WS'ers! I'm thinking we'll be hearing more about & from the Seminole tribe before this is all over & done.

Did that little boy have nowhere safe to go?? And of course he had no voice in this. His grandfather seemed like a champion for him -- maybe we will hear more.

We can at least know now that Ahizya is totally away from danger & pain now.

Was he hidden in a drawer somewhere? A clothes hamper? A box on a shelf or in an attic or crawl space? I can't write where else it could have been. How long did the perpetrator think that would last -- until his little body was buried or tossed somewhere?? At least his body has been found. SMH. What cruelty and selfishness and inhumanity. Oh, the little children we see.

I completely agree with every single word, borndem.

I read in one of the links upthread that the intensive grid search for AO began outside of the father's home. This tells me his step-"mom" was successful in deflecting and delaying the initial search (with the dogs) inside the family home.

There's no way on God's green earth the SAR K-9 units would have missed him on the 1st pass. They weren't allowed inside the home, but were utilized outside, because this was a wild goose chase from jump. All :moo: but that's the only way he wasn't found from the start.

May the light of truth shine down from the Heavens, where Little Ahizya is perched with Angel wings. I don't care one iota how long it takes for justice to be served. Whoever did this must pay and pay dearly.

I couldn't sleep last night, thinking about this beautiful child. His siblings will never see his smile, nor hear his laugh again. The world has been robbed of a beautiful gift that can never be replaced.

Thankfully LE was so thorough in their search. If they've left before finding him, we might never know the truth.

I constructed an outline based on information we know:

Feb 2012 - March 2012: Ahizya was born

Unknown month 2013: 1st DCF report. Report was closed with findings "not substantiated."

Oct 2013: stepmother (girlfriend at the time) got pregnant by Ahizya's father.

Jan 2014: 2nd DCF report. Mom was under the influence and passed out in a hotel room when Ahizya was found wandering around the lobby alone. In the room, police found another toddler and twin infants sleeping in an open bed with nothing to keep them from rolling off. When the officer woke her up she cussed him out and hit him. She was arrested for child neglect, battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. This incident led DCF to remove Ahizya from her care and place him with Dad. (The other children were removed from her care as well.)

April 2014: 3rd DCF report. Dad was named as the suspected perpetrator. Report was closed with abuse findings "not substantiated."

June 2014: Dad and Stepmom married

July 2014: Ahizya's half sister was born

Dec 2014: maternal grandfather told reporters Ahizya had bruises near his eye and on his buttocks. He said when Ahizya sat on his lap he cried out in pain. Mom and grandfather took Ahizya to the hospital. They said they contacted the Seminole Tribe's Family Services division about the incident. According to them, this was the last time they saw Ahizya.

Dec 2014: according to the Hollywood police chief, his department contacted DCF after police were called to Dad's home regarding a "child neglect" issue.

Feb 2015: 4th DCF report. The alleged perpetrator was unknown, but it was suspected that the abuse was occurring at Dad's residence. The report was closed with abuse findings "not substantiated."

March 19, 2015: Ahizya was reported missing. Just before midnight, after 12 hours and two searches of the home, police found Ahizya deceased. He was hidden in an obscure location in the house and in a position that would have been impossible for him to place himself in. (Stepmom's two children - one being Ahizya's 8 month old half sister - were removed by DCF and placed in state custody until a Saturday morning shelter hearing.)

March 21, 2015: shelter hearing. Judge rescheduled the hearing for Monday because Dad did not have an attorney present with him. The two children were temporarily placed with an aunt until that hearing.

Thank you. Stepmom's record includes a petty theft charge in Dec 2009 and 5 traffic violations, one being criminal.

The Feb 2015 DCF report states that Ahizya was living in the home with his father, stepmother, a 5 year old sibling, and the stepmother's two adult brothers. (Apparently the 8 month old wasn't mentioned for some reason.) They live in a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house. 4 adults and 3 children are a lot of people for a 4 bedroom house. Anyway, I was able to figure out the name of one of the stepmother's brothers. I cannot find anything regarding a second brother.

The one I found info on is 25 years old. He has a beyond ridiculous driving record, but his noteworthy arrests include 2 counts aggravated assault on law enforcement officer in Dec 2013, carrying a concealed weapon in Nov 2013, burglary in Sept 2009, and 3 counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Aug 2009.

Poor Ahizya. He was surrounded by criminals. I hope there is an arrest soon.

Where are you reading the DCF report?

Oh more adults in the house, I hope it won't mean more trouble finding out who did what.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/fl-hollywood-boy-death-folo-20150321-story.html

A Saturday morning hearing aimed at determining who should care for the two children was rescheduled to Monday because father Nelson Osceola did not have an attorney present. In the meantime, the two children are staying with an aunt.

"As long as the children are sheltered or at this point are safe, I'll roll the hearing over to Monday morning," Broward Circuit Judge Jack Tuter said.

During his brief time in court Saturday, Osceola stared straight ahead. He left immediately after the hearing ended.

Thanks, Greater, for mentioning the 2 adult brothers -- I was beginning to think I had dreamed them up all by myself. What about those guys? Were they in the house that day? I'd say LE has a lot of ground to cover with all the adults in the house... Does LE have a good solid case already, and they're just dottin' & crossin' those i's & t's, etc., or was whatever happened covered up very well, making their progress slow and broad? It needs to be solid, however, with no assumptions or shortcuts, so we (certainly I) must be patient. LE is always so tight-lipped -- and that's the best way to be, IMO, but we thrive on solid details and we have so little.

I had so hoped for a different outcome for this grinning boy. What an adorable little man. RIP :(

Both biological parents have lengthy criminal records. I don't know if either had anything to do with Ahizya's death, but they are certainly not model citizens.

Dad:

January 2013 - burglary, conveyance, assault/battery, battery

March 2012 - fleeing/eluding high speed, driving with suspended driver's license, no proof of insurance, expired tag, improper right turn, leaving scene

July 2011 - trespassing

October 2010 - driving with suspended driver's license, 2 counts operating vehicle unsafe/improper/equipment

March 2010 - fleeing/eluding high speed, resist/obstruct without violence, criminal mischief, burglary, reckless driving

December 2009 - possession of cannabis 20 grams or less, disobey avoid red light

April 2009 - possession of cannabis 20 grams or less

Mom:

June 2013 - organized fraud, conspiracy to organize scheme to defraud (status of case is "OPEN" with next hearing scheduled for April 2015)

January 2014 - driving while DL suspended/financial responsibility, improper sunscreen at top of windshield

January 2014 - neglect child/no bodily harm, battery on law enforcement officer, resist/obstruct without violence (status of case is "OPEN" but no future hearing date listed)

August 2012 - permitting unauthorized person to drive

December 2009 - possession of cocaine

BBM - I imagine this is why DCF has had prior contact with the family.

I don't think the stepmother's name has been released yet. I'd be interested to know her criminal history too since she was allegedly the one home with Ahizya when he went "missing."

BBM

When little Ahizya Osceola jumped onto his grandfather’s lap at a birthday party in December, the child cried out in pain. His buttocks were bruised and he had a bruise next to his eye, grandpa Kenneth Tommie said.

“He said, ‘Oh Pappa, it hurts,’” said Tommie. Tommie and the toddler’s mother, Karen Cypress, took the child to Hollywood Memorial Hospital. It was the last time they saw Ahizya — who lived with his father after his parents’ divorce — alive.

From donjeta's post above I believe there are a couple more incidents where DCS was called. I can only imagine how many times this conversation will haunt Ahizya's grandfather.

I know it's just because on WS we see child abuse and death from all over the US and beyond but it is so maddening that so many children
aren't allowed to have a happy childhood with families who love them and only want the best. It is so unfair.

MOO
