He deserves so much credit for helping to bring this case to fruition. I get the impression he viewed the surveillence tape and without delay had it in the hands of LE. People need to go on gut reactions and not spend valuable time debating what is pertinent. Unfortunately there was a delay in the issuance of the amber alert, had it gone out immediately would the out come have been different?? I don't know, but maybe. This evil man should not have been walking free...

I was going to open a thread about this but figured everyone had heard by now. So very tragic. I instantly imagined little Laci welcoming her into Heaven.

It is possible everyone knows-I am in the west so awaken later than those in the east-if so it might be on her thread- I just thot workers might not know or those not near a television..it makes my stomach knot up to learn this- but your notion of laci greeting her is comforting for sure

I didn't mean for everyone to take my words and pick them apart. I was saying the way she was dressed, her development.....she looked a helluva lot older than an 11 year old.

How many times do you hear or kidnappings occuring with women who are "goth". Hardly ever! I guess it doesnt' matter to some people, but I always had my daughter wear very classic things, not trendy. A white shirt with navy sweater and khaki pants. Who knows what stimulated the guy to grab her. I can tell you though, it wasn't because she was ugly.

And yes, I've seen the video, I don't have to watch it again. She was DRESSED to look older than most 11 year olds I know. She had a very womanly body. I'm not on here to argue, just stating that perhaps what she was wearing provoked the guy. Sheesh!

Our laws need to be changed. Hopefully for the brash video of this *advertiser censored*'s balls to do this will drive the decision makers of our legal system to do what they should have done loooonnnnng ago..ZERO TOLERANCE FOR CRIMINALS. NO PAROLES, NO WAY OUTS. NO SUGAR COATING ONCE QUESTIONED..NO ATTORNEY'S THAT DEFEND THEIR RIGHTS WHEN THEY ARE SUSPECTS (NOT just IF FOUND GUILTY...BUT SUSPECTS). Innocence lost is more at stake than "IF" their rights have been violated. I would expect the same treatment to myself. It's EXPECTED. That Drew has still not been found.. That sob is still not talking. HIS attorney is no different than these jurors with poor judgement. What part of holding a woman down DESERVES acquittal??? And for those neighbors in shock??? PULEEZE. ANYONE can have a child...that is meaningless. ANyone can put on a 'show'. All you have to do is look at his prison sentences, him being on parole, his DRUG addiction and know he isn't ozzie and harriett! HIs children deserved better and who knows what they put up with ...

I agree completely!! Our laws definitely need to be changed! Zero Tolerance is what I would like to see, also. I think castration should be a punishment option for convicted child molestors. These are our children and they need to be protected by the law! The law should not allow these people to go free.

I agree. The car wash manager really helped in this case, even though the end was still tragic. It would have been even more tragic (if there is such a thing) had the killer walked and the family had no closure. Good for the CWM.

These are our children and they need to be protected by the law! The law should not allow these people to go free.

I think castration removes only the testicles to decrease the hormone production etc. But let's not stop there... sever the penis as well!!

I think castration or "penis removal" would not work. The hormone is still there, or even just the pornographic thought can produce a criminal. And most criminals don't even fulfill the act. Some are impotent and frustrated. Best to just take them out behind the barn and shoot them in my opinion.

NOTHING she did provoked the guy, he was a sick twisted criminal.
I agree some of these clothes the little girls wear are way to "sexy". And I'm not old hag but I don't think she provoked him at all! He went after her because he is evil. Not because her clothes were tight.

My heart is aching ride now for the family. And after reading this entire thread. Yoy know what people. In my heart and head I think it would not matter what she was wearing. The SOB was on a mission and he did what he wanted to do. May he Fry for this one. Also After seeing the video to many times I will admit. Did anyone else notice how he kept pointing down to his pants. I think he was telling carlie he had a gun with him. If you look she also at least once or twice glanced down to where he was pointing.

Thanks newtv. I've been dealing with this tragedy all morning. So sad,so tragic....what a loss.

I agree, you are probably right!! For triple assurance why can't all three of the above be performed? Castrate, sever penis and just to be sure...KILL HIM.

You guys are still missing what I'm saying. I KNOW he was just a criminal, but I don't think he would have been provoked if she looked like a hag....she was a beautiful, well developed girl. And in some way her appearance did provoke him to grab her.

Forgot the link to the article but it stated that she stayed at her friends house and when the friends mother came in from work she told her that she had called her mom and her mom said it was ok for her to walk home. So she left. (around 6pm) Then the friends mom called Carlies mom and Carlies mom said NO she did not give her permission to walk home and Carlies stepdad left to go find her. (apparently the perp had already taken her because he never found her and at 6:30 they called police to report her missing)

I have said this many times. How to punish anyone that would do this to a child. Take the SOB to a wooden cabin. Take a rusty 12 inch nail and drive it through his penis to the floor. And then set the cabin on fire. Lets see what is more important then :furious: :furious:

... I am going to write a letter today to their Principal's and to their PTA's ..........then a letter to our local newspaper to make sure all three schools have in place a program that teaches their students what to do in case of an attempted abduction. Both our High School and Middle School have lost their City School Police Officers because of the cut's in our City budget.
They were trained police officer's that the children frequently saw and liked.
It's a damn shame!

If all of us could check with our schools this coming week and also send a letter to your local newspaper, it might really help. It's pretty obvious that we all need to work together.

I think this is a GREAT idea!!! I just called the Superintendent's office of my school district. I think it would be great if schools offered some sort of program, or even an hour long seminar on something like this. Even a local police officer could come in and speak to children about protecting themselves. If a program like this helped save just ONE child, by teaching them what to do, it would be worth it.

I'm sure there are parents who talk to their children about this. However, I also think there are many people who think, "This just couldn't happen HERE, where I live!"

What's the most awful thing is he was acquitted of the same thing before.....granted the women is not deceased, but he's repetitive! I say take him out shoot him behind the barn and let his carcass rot for the vultures.

The carwash owner siad the video equipment cost him $12,000 but it was worth every penny if it helped save one child. Funny how the world is so full of great people that really try to make this a better world and at the same time we have the scum like Joe Smith and the judge that thought the jail was too overcrowded to house hime BEFORE he killed someone (AND got caught).
It would be nice if we all send a thank you card to the owner of the carwash just to let him know that many many people appreciate his concern for the safety of our children as well as undertaking the expense of installing the video equipment.
