The report that the cell phone has turned on and off since that Thursday seems unreliable, as the same report mentions that PB claimed to have left Christian by UF. LE has been clear regarding the 8:14pm cell phone shut off, and the police report does not mention anything about a field by UF. Not discounting the possibility entirely, but am doubtful of the accuracy of reporting. (Although if true... there is a lot of wildlife in the area. Once saw a fox bounding down University Avenue downtown. And it is true about the huge number of homeless living in tents in the woods all over Gainesville.)
I also have my doubts re: the claim that PB punched CA unconscious in the parking lot of Streit's. Although it is not the most traveled part of NW 13th, at 6pm it sees a fair number of travelers and there's not a whole lot to look at on that stretch. Someone being punched for 10 minutes would have been noticed.
I wonder if he purchased the shovel and duct tape at the Home Depot right up the road from there. Why identify that area unless he had been there recently, if not to harm this young man then for another purpose.
One thing is for sure... putting together a timeline for this situation is utterly frustrating.
