onJuly 15,2014, at 10:25 p.m. EDST, at the parking lot of 7501 E. Treasure Drive, North. Bay Village, Florida. Thiswasthe location of Magbanua’s residence at that time. On July 18, 2014, at 12:26 a.m. EDST, the vehicle was located at North Monroe Street and East 6th Avenue, Tallahassee, Florida. On July 19, 2014, at 1:26 am. EDST, the vehicle was located behind 1505 NE. 135 Street, North Miami, Florida. This address is the residenceof Jessica Rodriguez, who was a girlfriendof (and has achild with) Rivera. Cellular location data for Magbanua, Garcia, and Rivera is consistent with them being in the area of Magbanua’s residence during and around the time the vehicle GPS showed its location to be in the parking lot of Magbanua’s condominium. Both Garcia and Rivera met with 'Magbanua the night before departing for Tallahassee to commit the murder. AnalysisofRivera's checking account revealed an ATM transaction took place in Broward County on July 18, 2014, at 6:46 p.m. as they were retuming to Miami from Tallahassee, Florida. Security video from the drive-through ATM lane shows Rivera driving a ‘Toyota Prius up to the ATM at 6:45 p.m. As the Toyota Prius exits the ATM area at 6:47 p.m., a Florida license plate can be seen on the rearofthe car. The tag characters match thoseofthe car rental contract. Cellular records show numerous contacts between Katherine Magbanua and both Charles ‘Adelson and Sigfredo Garcia. On one occasion, telephone records show contact between Garcia's handset and a cellular telephone registered to Harvey Adelson, Charles and Wendi Adelson’s father on July 1, 2014. At approximately 11:47 a.m., Magbanua’s telephone began attempting to contact Garcia's telephone. Over the next 5% hours, Magbanua attempted to contact Garcia approximately 48 times. At 5:05 p.m., Magbanua made contact with Garcia, and they had a conversation lasting 6minutesand22 seconds. Approximately 9 minutes later, at 5:20 p.m, Garcia's cellular telephone attempted to contact Harvey's cellular telephone. The cellular records indicate this call went to voicemail. Telephone number 786-372-5986wasbeing used by Garcia prior to the murder and had been in contact with Magbanua’s telephone number, 786-564-1312, approximately 2,700 times between May 1, 2014 and July 19, 2014, when Garcia’s cellular phone ceased activity, the day after the homicide. Telephone number 305-570-8153 belonged to Luis Rivera during the time leading up to Markel's murder. Yes, "innocent Wendi" told Jeff Lacasse that she got a new phone 4 days after the murder because she thought that LE had installed a bug. Det. Isom and Lacasse both laughed at the prospect, because its not the cold war anymore and LE does not need to plant a physical "bug" on a handset. But this is more evidence of consciousness of Wendi's guilt.

Rashbaum made a big deal about "why would Wendi tell you about Charlie seriously trying to hire the hitman the day before she broke up with you?" and its probably a good question. It assumes that Wendi is a rational person and not a complete emotional disaster. Or, as Lacasse and his therapist suggest - a sociopath. But Wendi's treatment of Lacasse after the murder seem to be a cover-up....

- she tells all their mutual friends that police are seriously investigating Jeff for this as a crime of passion
- she tells Jeff that she tried to "protect him" from LE and that they wanted his address and she didn't want to give it to them.
- she tells Jeff that she was instructed by LE to not have any contact with him because he was a suspect. (Isom says that never happened because LE would WANT a suspect to be talking)
- she tells Jeff that LE will likely never solve the murder because Danny had so many enemies. (She told LE the week before that he had no enemies or vices. She also told Rob Adelson the same thing - that Dan had endless enemies).
- she was extremely upset at Jeff because he attended Markel's funeral
- she tries to convince Jeff that she loved Tallahassee and never wanted to move. He found this deeply disturbing as it was the complete opposite of their daily conversations for months leading up to murder
- a week after the murder, she had zero sympathy or empathy for Dan Markel. She was still full of complete rage and hatred towards him.
- She told Jeff "50 times" that she had nothing to do with the murder. )She knew he would suspect her or her family because he'd spent the last 6 months listening to how much she hated him. Wanted Lacasse on her side.)
- she said the boys were adjusting really well. They having some issues like wetting the bed and stuff but it" had nothing to do with Danny's murder" - odd

One thing is sure - the Adelsons picked the wrong patsy. Lacasse will make an excellent witness in all the upcoming trials.

How much was Charlie’s defense? Did someone estimate $3 Million? If Donna’s case goes to trial — it’ll likely cost as much, if not more.

And to think at one time they were wondering if repairing an inexpensive tv would be more costly than buying a new one!

I'm not sure where this figure came from but $3M seems excessive to me.

I've followed several high profile murder trials where the defendant was acquitted of murder and the defendants have been quoted stating their legal fees were in excess of $400k (2016 Colorado acquittal trial), 2022 federal court murder trial at $1.3M, and more recently, a defendant estimated his legal expense for his 2024 CA trial to exceed $500K.

CA was no OJ-- flanked in Court everyday by a team of 4 or 5 big name defense lawyers at the table with him! In fact, I doubt Dan Rashbaum is known outside of FL! JMO

What an incredible story, so far. I'd love to know how this arrest on the jetway went down.

I'm guessing they were flying First Class or whatever the highest equivalent is. This group usually boards first. I can see the Emirates staff and airport security cooperating with LE to have them board first of all, getting specially called by the gate agent for exclusive boarding as soon as their ticket is scanned into the system, so the jetway doors are shut behind them as the Emirates steward escorts them down to a recess in the jetway where the airport security are, looking as if they are for special individualized boarding for the plane, but are really there so Miami LE can arrest them there, before any other passengers are on the jetway and no line is held up Quickly Mirandizing them, cuffing them, and then escorting them back out securely, with their cuffed hands hidden by coats, to a waiting airport transport vehicle.

I wonder what they were carrying with them in terms of $$$$ and documents. Stuff in baggage. Hopefully this will be revealed in arrest documents or at trial.
