Hi, I am new to websleuths, but I am not a stranger to the JO case. I was 12 when she was abducted and killed, the same age as her. I was born and raised in Pasco County, and this was definitely the case that had everyone on high alert. The only other case I remember like this was the Adam Walsh case.
Anyhow, I have been following this case off and on throughout my growing up and for a while I just stopped following it because there weren't any "new" leads or updates.
Just recently I've started to gain my interest back in cold cases which has left me reading about SO many victims that are either still missing or are unidentified. All I could think about is "The forgotten ones". This is what bough me here, back to my childhood, the memories of JO. So, I started reading and following up on any news leads or old leads that may have been over looked, researching old POI and comparing similarities between her case and other unsolved cases, DNA matches, witness accounts, time lines, ect. After reading this forum from start to finish, I must say a lot of great info and hard work has been put into this case. It's heartwarming to see that I am not the only one this case just doesn't sit right with and that is seeking answers.
One person throughout this entire case has stuck with me deep down in my gut, right to the bottom of my soul and he was a POI at one point in the investigation however they could not connect him to her abduction nor her murder. From what I have read on here and also from "profilers" he would be someone familiar with the area due to either his work, or because he lived in the area. Being that witnesses say that he had latter racks and poles in the back of his truck leads me to agree with another websleuthers thoughts that he is a person who works in the orchards, that would explain the latter's and pole like pipes they say were in the back of his truck. He also knew where a "illegal" dumping site that people frequently dumped trash and debris was located tht would ultimately throw the investigation off track being its just across the county line of the sistering County, suggesting that this person is or could also work in construction as the location where some of her belongings were later found was part of a construction site for a hospital. I have some articles that I feel in my gut are way too coincidental in regards to this case. I hope I'm not going off the deep end, it's just that this particular POI really stands out and after reading these articles and a few more, it all just seems to fit together as him being her killer. I'm open to anything anyone has, I've highlighted important facts that stood out to me that made sense after comparing to her case and whatnot.Screenshot_20211104-060105_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20211104-104204_Photo Editor.jpg Screenshot_20211104-104321_Photo Editor.jpg Screenshot_20211104-103928_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20211104-053720_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20211104-082120_Chrome.jpg

This is amazing work! I have been off websleuths for awhile and just got checked in on a lark, I love this information, I have not heard of Potts, so this is all new info.

Brooksville born and raised. I was 8 when this went down. With that being said, the culprit is absolutely a Brooksville native. I think the psychic from um was spot on. A wiry looking individual that is a mechanic. The individual I have in mind has never been mentioned. I do believe police were harassing him heavily after the abduction according to records. Has anyone considered a Brooksville native?

An article describing where the book bag and clarinet case was found put it at north of SR 50 and west of Oak Hill hospital. That would place it near the lake/spring I believe some call cyclops. There are a few ways to get to it. Directly off of SR 50, or take a road like montour until it ends @ high point and turns into power lines trail, once past high point, head south down the sandy trails. Only a local of Brooksville would know about this. As far as I’m concerned, this area was never public. I’ve been there a handful of times to swim with friends and never seen anyone there except other local kids. The guy I have in mind had a girlfriend living on montour. Unsure if they were dating at the time of the dump as she was only 16. I know he married her at 19 and him 48-49

I went to high school and rode the bus in Brooksville with a cousin of Jennifers when she went missing. The pain this family has suffered is great and I can't help hope DNA evidence will finally solve this horrific crime. I've heard stories from a first responder that worked the scene when she was found. He was never the same.

I’ve lived in and around the area most of my life and I never knew about the area until I just looked it up. So, I would qualify it to say a local who is outdoorsy or had a reason to seek out such an area.

I don’t think they have the dna. I’m sure if they did, it would have been tested for familial dna which probably would have generated a hit. I think the evidence they “tested” on crum would be along the lines of interrogation and he clearly didn’t talk or didn’t do it.

I was grabbing some drinks from beverage 50 some time last week, and I saw an old face from 20 years prior. Nothing good was ever said about the guy. All I ever heard was “weirdo child molester Mfer” from people who knew him in my circle. I even remember him to have an old beat up blue truck. (Not saying he did it, many had blue trucks). So I look the dude up and his entire family. It’s horrid of course. Like real bad. So I start looking at the case again too. Sure I’ve seen a few similarities. Some are striking. Nothing really “gotcha” from an evidence perspective. Just more of a “yeah, it’s definitely possible”. I’d be willing to share the name if anyone wanted to take a look. I haven’t shared it with police. I’m positive he’s been looked at along with his family.

This case is cold and it clearly needs new life, so I was going through everything, and on a couple of videos/posts there are some interesting comments from individuals that “know who did it” and the “police won’t listen to me”. They look to be locals, some were from 4 years ago. Some are from last week. I’ve reached out to everyone, and have yet to hear back.

I'm willing to try and find some info on the person of interest you mention. Would this be the same person as the individuals that claim to know who killed her?

I’m also willing to help. I’m local to the case and I am familiar with researching people in Florida.

I wonder if the bag and clarinet case were preserved in a way that dna could be extracted from the handles now? It is very likely the killer discarded them and would have left dna on them. There have been so many advancements since the items were likely originally tested in the early 90s.

Well you and I both know Florida is inhospitable to dna. Very hot, very wet.

So who came up with the search warrant on dec 3 1998. How come that isn’t discussed. That’s what I find most interesting. I’ve looked into that and it’s nowhere to be found. Sheriff website used to mention search warrants but it’s not the case anymore.

Some interesting stuff here. So the perp may have been spotted, and was under immense pressure from unsolved mysteries and billboards.

On February 19th, 1993, twelve-year-old Jennifer Renee Odom had just gotten home from school and stepped off her school bus around 3:00 PM, waving goodbye to her friends as the bus drove away.

She began the 200-yard walk home from the school bus stop. She would never arrive – meeting a fate almost too difficult to imagine.

Renee Converse, Odom’s Mother, recalls in numerous interviews, how she drove her daughter to the bus that morning, as it was their morning ritual to spend time together and talk. She watched as Odom exited the car, climbed onto the bus, and took her usual seat towards the back so she could watch her mother drive follow the bus on her way to work.

Odom would always wave goodbye as her mother would turn onto another road toward her job. Converse recounts the last words being spoken between the two as ‘I love you.’

When Odom’s 9-year-old sister Jessica, arrived home that afternoon around 4:00 pm, the door to the home was locked, and she was unable to enter. Jessica then called her mother, who then realized Jennifer must not have made it home. Converse called Odom’s best friend Michelle, who stated that she saw Odom exit the bus and begin walking home. Converse knew something was very wrong and called the police.
On February 19th, 1993, twelve-year-old Jennifer Renee Odom had just gotten home from school and stepped off her school bus around 3:00 PM, waving goodbye to her friends as the bus drove away.
On February 25th, the badly decomposed naked body of Jennifer Odom was found lying in an orange grove 10 miles north in the Spring Lake area of Hernando County. She had been brutally murdered.

Children riding the school bus remember seeing an older blue pickup truck driving slowly down the road in the direction in which Jennifer was walking. The driver was described by children on the bus as a white male in his 40s with shoulder-length brown hair. Neither the truck nor the driver was ever located.

Police were able to lift fingerprints from her backpack, which was found two years later, along with a clarinet case that was in her possession from what is believed to be her killer(s), but there was never a hit in the database for a suspect.

Psychic Nancy Myer, one of the world’s top Psychic Detectives, was called in 16 months later from Pennsylvania to assist investigators with the search. Myer believes the killer(s) asked the young girl for directions, and when she approached them, they abducted her. Myer was taken to the location in which Odom was found and stated that she was not murdered there but had been placed there afterward.

She accurately described some of Odom’s belongings that were found nearby, such as jewelry, as well as other belongings which were to be found two years later – including her backpack and clarinet case, which had the initials L.O. on it – which stood for Odom’s cousin’s initials, to which the clarinet belonged.

Odom’s clothing that day, which consisted of a white turtleneck, white jeans, a red cashmere sweater, and a white sweater, that had Hooters on the arm, was never found.

Myer believes Odom was murdered by two men, one of which she described as being 6’1”, with a medium build, and ‘wiry’ looking arms, stating that he wasn’t necessarily strong but that he was used to working with lifting heavy things. She believes both men to be mechanics, and one has a smoker’s cough.

Odom’s story aired on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries on December 2, 1994, and has greatly received attention from the media since her murder was publicized. Still, no answers have been found for her family, who have never lost hope that they will indeed find justice.

Jennifer absolutely loved her Springer Spaniel, Gypsy, and her sister Jessica, who is now 36 years old.
