Family of missing boaters keep hope alive and continue volunteer search effort
[...]

Futch was returning to the area Monday from his home in Chipley to continue coordinating the same volunteer search efforts that ran alongside the U.S. Coast Guard’s last week.

[...]

The perseverance comes in the face of dimming hopes and lingering prayers. Volunteers continue to take to the sea and sky in a bid to find clues that could lead to the pair's whereabouts.

The Coast Guard continues to track reports of possible debris.

[...]

The search is now a volunteer effort, split between organized fronts mobilized out of South Carolina and South Florida with Futch acting as the central organizer.

He said nautical and aviation professionals are providing expertise on when and where to look.

[...]

Monday marked the 10th day Walker, 33, and McCluney, 38, have been at sea.

[...]

Futch said three planes were over the Atlantic, departing from those bases with searchers Monday.

[...]

“We’re still looking for the boat, but we’re also not ruling out that they’re on a raft,” he said. “There’s been zero debris found.”

[...]

The cell phone ping showed that at 1 p.m. Aug. 16, the men were 31 miles off shore of Brevard County at 8A Reef, where McCluney said they planned to fish.

“Brian left a boating plan. They told people where they were going to be; what they were doing and when they were going to return,” Futch said.

[...]

Futch said the men stuck with their plan, “It’s what happened afterward we don’t know.”

He said there have been contributors of both time and resources renting planes and paying for fuel but added, “It’s going out almost as fast as it's coming in.”

[...]

McCluney's mother, Carla McCluney, specifically thanked the Coast Guard, a foreign merchant ship that diverted its course to search for the men and the countless donors that offered planes, boats, fuel and money.

"I am in debt to all of you, forever," she said. "Thank you."

So sad !
Just checking in to see if any debris or some glimmer of hope.
Doesn't look good.
But people have been known to have survived longer than this.
So we can still hope.
Many people are diligently watching and posting photos from Buoy cams on this FB page dedicated to helping the search. Time is growing short, I know, but still many are not giving up. Coast Guard is informed of anything significant and seem to still be responding.

Missing firefighters' loved ones continue push for search teams
[...]

Now, loved ones are making a renewed push for people to stay on the lookout.

It could be something as simple as a life jacket, a fishing rod or a cooler, family members said. That could be a clue to reignite the search and possible bring the hurting families answers.

[...]

The wives of the firefighters continue to post on Facebook, as well. Walker’s wife, Natasha, asked Tuesday for private boats and planes to search where they hadn’t checked yet.

[...]

Friends joined in, calling for people to look for debris up and down the coast, from Florida to Virginia.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t see anything,” said Scott Anderson, president of Logan Diving and Salvage.

[...]

“I think those guys were well-equipped to survive if the boat didn’t sink,” Anderson said. “(If the boat did sink), it could be either way (floating or on the bottom). Typically, that boat, we would expect it to turn turtle and float.”

[...]

If the boat got into the Gulf Stream, he said, it could have moved north at 100 miles a day. By now, clues could be anywhere.

[...]

Anderson said it’s important that boaters, both recreation and commercial, all across the Eastern Seaboard know about the missing firefighters so they can keep an eye out. He said, sometimes, vessels and debris can be found years later.

Two tropical systems in and closing in on the search area. TS Erin is spinning up the surf now, all the way to NJ Shore with coastal flooding and rip current warnings. TS/Hurricane Dorian on a direct approach to Central Florida as a Cat 2 or possible Cat 3 storm. Even the searchers are going to have to back off.

The event is known as "Casual for a Cause," and today students were given two options: to wear a "freestyle" outfit or wear red to support firefighters, according to school officials.

Walker's sister, Jessica, is currently a teacher at Imagine at South Vero. School officials said "One hundred percent of the donations go directly toward civilian search efforts."

This is in addition to my previous post today regarding satellite imagery.

In case Planet.com is a dead end, I found a news article from a few years back that mentions a different company that was able to provide imagery in another case of a family missing at sea. It says they create the satellite images and allow volunteers to log in to search. Since there are SO MANY people who want to help any way they can in this search, that stood out to me. Here is the link to that article:
