Www.news4jax.com has a recently posted article, I'm unable to post a link but if you go there you can read it.

it states that the kidnapper (I refuse to call her the "mother" bc she is NOT) appeared in court today, and the abducted child was present. She blew her a kiss and Kimayah yelled to the abductor, "I love you". They were also given a few minutes alone before Gloria (kidnapper) was taken away. Gloria is being extradited back to Florida to stand trial, she was denied bail and considered a flight risk.

Ahhh, Niq, I just read the whole thread and hoped you'd still be around!

Yes!!!! I froze when I randomly saw the sketch of her and the abductor on my facebook timeline. Prior to this, it was not a well known case, at all, even this thread only had two pages. So it was extremely bizzare to see it on my timeline. When my eyes saw the words "Foun-" I screamed and jumped. GOD IS SO GOOD!

A tragic twist to this case is that her abductor probably gave her a better quality of life than her birth parents :/ Such a complex case in so many ways but ultimately comes down to the fact that it's inexcusable to abduct a child

In a way, I think it's a good thing she is 18. Because she will be able to make her own decisions on who she wants contact with and whatnot.

When it comes to sentencing do you think Kamiyah/Alexis will have any say in what her mother/abductor gets?

I don't think so. Sounds like her abductor/mother has other criminal offenses.

I'm sure some of these were already posted, but here's some local Jax news articles from today. The Jacksonville.com articles may require registration but are worth it.

http://jacksonville.com/news/2017-01-13/10-years-later-where-kamiyah-mobley (10 years after the abduction)

from the latter article:
It was just about 3 p.m. on a hot, partly cloudy Friday. A woman had been roaming for 14 hours in University Medical Center, now known as Shands Jacksonville, asking about Mobley’s baby. She then spent five hours with the mother and child before saying Kamiyah had a fever and needed to be checked..... The case was featured on CNN and America’s Most Wanted.

I remember how shocking this kidnapping was when it happened in Jacksonville. This child was hours old when she was abducted, and it sure seemed like she was targeted. Before this case, I'd heard of 1 or 2 cases where a woman desperate for a baby would murder a mom who'd just come home with a newborn, but this was a baby kidnapped from the hospital at just a day old. My hubby was working at a different local hospital in Jax at the time, and he recalls the security protocols at his hospital changing overnight as an immediate response to this abduction, too.

While the kidnapper may have given this young woman a good life, the woman also conned a young woman into believing the woman in scrubs was a hospital nurse, and conned the hospital that she was a family member. According to multiple local articles, both 10 years after the abduction and now, mother Shanara Mobley every year would celebrate her daughter's birthday by cutting a piece of birthday cake and saving it in the freezer for her abducted daughter, and then months later removing the frozen cake, throwing it away to try and focus on moving on and focusing on her family. This is one of a parent's worst nightmares. I am so glad this child was found alive and unharmed, and pray that she can find a way to move forward and resolve the multiple layers of love, loss, hope, and deceit she's been subjected to since shortly after birth.

I have nothing but sympathy for this poor young girl. Her life has been turned upside down.

But I can't agree that the kidnapper gave her a better life. Any person who would go to such lengths to steal a 5 hrs old infant from its mother must not be a truly kind and loving person, even to the child they stole. It takes a twisted, selfish, manipulative, sociopathic person to do such a thing.

Having a nice home, clothes and material things alone dont make a good life or upbringing. This poor girl was raised by a monster, and damage will last a lifetime.

I remember that day also. It changed the way hospitals operated of course, but also the way everyday people did.

Driving to work after finding out about the kidnapping, I passed the home of a coworker and noticed a large sign in the front yard "It's A BOY". It was a different age and it wasn't unusual to see such signs.

But that day my first thought was "Oh no. Don't advertise you have a baby". Before I could approach the new dad other people had already done so. The proud grandpa was at the house within the hour to take down the sign.

I'm thrilled KM has been found but worry about what she faces. Sending positive energy her way.

At the same time, the drive to have a child is powerful & it's possible that the kidnapper's criminal history would have prevented her from adopting. The kidnapping could have come from desperation of wanting a child and not being able to have one, possibly biologically as well as through the regular adoption route due to criminal history; NOT trying to excuse her actions, just trying to understand.

The uncomfortable possibility is that the kidnapper could have been a great mother who does love Alexis a lot... apart from the kidnapping part. So I don't think it's as cut and dry as labeling someone as a monster without the facts. She obviously did something terrible to another family but reality usually exists in more shades of gray so I'm withholding extremely strong pronouncements until more facts come in.

Not too likely this was much of a "better life' .... seems there 25 moves and constant financial difficulties through these 18 years, at the least.:

25 previous addresses for Williams in South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and New York

Other than the kidnapping arrest, Williams' criminal history is limited to charges of writing bad checks, welfare fraud and multiple traffic tickets. She was arrested in 2003 in Greenville, South Carolina, for breach of trust.
Court records show Williams was taken to court nine other times over financial issues.

No, it doesn't sound like a good life at all. This history is typical of parents who abduct their own children in divorce custody battles - constant moving, insecurity, secrecy and social isolation, financial struggles. The kidnapped child becomes a permanent hostage to the "parent's" selfishness. The child is psychologically manipulated by the kidnapper and becomes completely dependent on them. It's child abuse. Like being taken hostage, it will take a long time for this girl to sort out her feelings.

Wow, this poor young woman. She didn't ask for any of this, and I can't imagine how hard it must be to suddenly look at the person you called mom your entire life and realize that she had lied to you all that time. On the other hand, I can't imagine how hard it must be to suddenly have your birth family before you, but be strangers. That's a lot for anyone to face, but especially at her young age.

The I-TEAM found 25 previous addresses for Williams in South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and New York. There's no record of her ever living in Florida. Many of those residences were in Gwinnett County, near metro Atlanta.
The family was evicted at least six times from six different addresses.
…most recently lived in a Habitat for Humanity home that had been built for the family in Walterboro, South Carolina.
