--Chief Hackney mentioned the storage unit, just barely, in one of the earlier press briefings, we haven't heard anything else on it, he never mentioned a time etc...

Thank you.

Why would he go to a storage unit on a rainy night while also doing laundry and watching two little kids? That seems like a hassle, unless it were really important.

Or, maybe, he was placed at the storage unit at a different date??

Googling Jacksonville Poker, there's poker games in private homes, poker rooms, casinos, and poker tournaments. I think Chief Hackney purposely said the word poker, it was maybe a cue to Ebron that they know more than he thinks.

Also, there's a storage unit next to the laundromat, maybe that's where he kept/dealt his drugs, or maybe he got something out of it like a shovel. :/ As I said before people around here have been caught making meth, selling, or just keeping drugs in their units, instead of their homes. This is the one next to the laundromat, not sure if that's the one he went into. http://www.u-stor.com/Florida/Jacksonville/U-StorPowers.html

I just can't see Ebron paying for a storage unit.

Wonder if/what was found in car? Traces of vomit? While urine traces would be common in a car with babies (yuck I know) , both those body fluids could hold trace chemicals if he died from drug intake. Could he has tried to wash car seat cover in "laundromat"? Those ecstacy pills made to look like candy are especially worrisome with an active 2 yr old.
There may be more expensive and thus more sophisticated testing available. But I know when I do drug urines on babies, the lab asks for at least 2 mls. I'm not sure they could extract that from seats, but the argument could be made that drug residue may have been on the seat prior and may have tainted the sample.

Thanks lauriej!

A couple of things stood out to me. This: "Hackney said dozens of homeowners, business owners and others responded to his request for surveillance images, and police have also said similar evidence placed Ebron at a laundromat, a gas station and a storage unit" because a few people mentioned hearing Hackney talk about a storage unit in an early press briefing. This quote is confirmation of that and of the fact that they have more footage than what we saw.

This quote, "“If I was the Public Defender I would go down to the jail and strangle my client,” from the law professor interviewed, made me laugh. Sometimes when 'experts' are interviewed, I roll my eyes, but this guy sounds pretty on the ball. And he did prosecute Ted Bundy, so he has experience with criminals who think they are smarter than everyone else.

Also, I don't think tauntinge is a word. lol

RBBM:
I sent an email to the site, because (what I think is) a typo in the headline left me

It shows up when you tweet / Facebook share the link as well

Police taunting, suspect denial mark back and forth in Lonzie Barton case

Apparently there is video of him at one. Link is a few posts above.

I'm not saying he wasn't at one, I just don't see him paying for one. I wonder if he did have one in his name or someone else own it. Those things are pretty pricey. Maybe those in that area are less expensive.

Anyone that has a car that can't turn it off the right way, I just don't see wasting their money on storage unit. Of course just my opinion.

I can't help but wonder if Ebron ever mentioned marriage to Lonzie's mother prior to Lonzie's disappearance.

I don't see him having one either, but maybe Lonna's, they were living in the one room in the apt. Since she lost her apt, it would make sense if they had a unit closeby. Then again he could've just been meeting someone over there.

He told LE his car was stolen with the baby in it. It was proven beyond a reasonable doubt by the video camera that he lied. He lied because he caused the baby's death and then hid the body. Period. The end.

He may be able to manipulate drugged out strippers and his parents but he can't manipulate LE. He isn't smart, he is just a liar. It doesn't take any brains to lie and since his lies were uncovered immediately, I think he is as dumb as dirt.

I mean come on, he parked his "stolen" car less than a mile from where he lived in the same place he parked it earlier in the day, like no one would notice an ORANGE and black car.

He is just a low-life, woman-beating, drug-dealing, baby murderer. Nothing mysterious here. Baby was probably thrown in a dumpster and is now in the landfill. Why do I think this? Because he is not capable of thinking outside the box (think car disposal location) therefore I think he went for the easiest and quickest disposal method - dumpster behind a building.

This is like no other missing person case I have followed. This far into the case we do not know who was the last person other than LL or WRE to see Lonzie. Maybe no one saw him for days before he went missing. Haven't reporters interviewed neighbors or friends.

I think, just my opinion, that it was sign of death.. body gives off signs soon afterwards. Dogs and forensics would be able to pick up on it. By changing the wirding so publicly I would say it had to be a beyond doubt discovery.

Absolutly, I would agree. Death leaves it's mark. BUT- if there is body fluids that can be processed- and there's drug trace- it's another " bullet from the smoking gun" . ( is that our guy worded it!!)

I don't think Lonzie died of an accidental overdose or any other kind of accident. Just my opinion. Hackney made reference to a mistake being made, but a mistake and an accident are not the same things. Also, I think if this were an accident that WE would reveal the location of Lonzie and tell a believable tale of what happened.

It seems that most think Lonzie died in the car. Anyone think there is another crime scene? Are LE still holding the apartment?

Good question! Maybe knowing what would be calling police, and already in trouble from prior drug bust, he took drugs from house and put in there. [modsnip] (Forgot which came first)

By the way, I am very familiar with this sleezy place having had many clients in counseling that have worked there. It's a drug haven. The girls are using, many are also working as prostitutes. It is easy to buy drugs there.

I just can't see Ebron paying for a storage unit.

--I can't see him "wanting" to have to pay for one.

--but, they had barely 'hooked up' when Lonna was evicted from her apartment (along with ruben) in May after the drug arrest, they would have had to do something w/ their belongings/stuff from the apartment while they went to live w/ the current roommate.

--maybe he was OK w/ it temporarily, or, if the stored items were mainly her/the kids----he told her she would have to pay the storage fees.

--this case is a heart breaker, 2 weeks ago early tomorrow morning ruben made the 911 call reporting the carjacking/babyjacking-------both flat-out lies.

--where are you Lonzie?

I'm not sure they could extract that from seats, but the argument could be made that drug residue may have been on the seat prior and may have tainted the sample.

Drug traces in urine would break down in heat and car surface. If Lonzie had wet the seat in passing, his seat may hold enough. Unless WE washed it, but THAT would be a red flag. Even if he threw up without a trace, LE could ask why haven't you said anything about being sick.

I can't help but wonder if Ebron ever mentioned marriage to Lonzie's mother prior to Lonzie's disappearance.

Lol! Million dollar question!!! She couldn't be forced to testify then! But she's still married!!! I think love grew when he needed a public image improvement!!!

BBM

--about a week or so in, Chief Hackney said they still had the apartment. surely they've finished processing it by now and given DA, the roommate, the OK to return.

--as someone else mentioned-----why aren't the reporters on this guy, getting his story? slackers...

--I don't think Lonzie died in the car, I don't think an alive Lonzie was in the car that night.

--without video proof, I don't yet believe that he was at the Laundromat that night before she went to work.

--I think he died due to a rage that ruben went into, Lonzie enraged him in some fashion (it may have been his subconscious that brought up potty training w/ his Dad at the jail, b/c that had something to do w/ it) or, he got into his drugs, (the nerve!) or, ruben was livid that she had gone to 'dance' that night when he didn't want her to and he took his anger out on Lonzie.

--from what we know of ruben, through his lengthy (!) rap sheet, none of that screams --- babysitter.

--whatever it was, a dead Lonzie was in the car at some point, while he disposed of him, (IMO).

--the problem w/ trace evidence like that (urine/vomit/hair etc..) of the missing person, in a car that they frequented OFTEN, those traces could be easily explained------in fact a decent defense attorney would have a field day if the DA brought something as what the defense would call that "trivial", up at all.

--I'm still hopeful, going by what Chief Hackney said at the last press briefing-----"We have a surprising amount of physical evidence...."

--he has also said that he doesn't want to build ruben's defense for him, and can't comment on a number of things.....

--it's been 2 weeks, but it's "only" been 2 weeks, I'm confident they're building a strong case behind the scenes.

Thinkin'....thanks for the photo of the pills - wow - yes, that could be a possibility and something that L's Mom witnessed after the fact/but knows what happened. But I just had another thought and it only came to me because of how smug the creeper is and I am guessing, VERY confident L won't be found - just like how smug Crystal Rogers' BF is and obviously confident that C won't be found. I think Crystal R missing/killed was planned in advance (jmo). Has anyone considered that L's dissapearance/death was pre-planned by LL's BF? (Because he was...a nuisance, too much trouble, annoying, took time away from him (the BF)?
