Makes me wonder if "someone" came into the bedroom while she was out and perhaps checked her phone, taking it outside the room before lighting it up, then sneaking it back into the room. I'd guess SS, but there were other people in the house.
Or, Jen was walking around during the time she said she was sleeping with the door cracked open because she has a cat.

Im extremely curious what evidence LE has. Some questions they asked could be really interesting. Small snippet;

Bolded by reference. Interesting that they specificly asked steps and checking her phone.
and.....the rain sounds playing on the tv: keep in mind she claims earlier in the interview she sleeps through the nite....yet she answers this below much later in the interview.....

Q do you remember that night if you were doing listening to those YouTube videos?
A probably was I listen to it every night so I probably was
Q does it shut off automatically
A um around like 4: or 5: a.m. but then I'll I'll notice and I'll press play again
Q okay is it fair to say that you're easily woken up or no... by sounds like that or
A BIG SIGH......not sure I'm easily woken up... I don't know

SS's using the 'rest room' downstairs "at some point": my question: isnt the bathroom located in the downstairs bedroom JS was sleeping in?

Q do they comply with your wishes to go upstairs when you say that at about
11:00?
A uh yes they do
Q is there any further communication between either you and Madeline or you and Stephan about all right kids it's time to go to bed anything like that or was that the last you had heard from either one of them that night?
A I think at some point Stefan comes downstairs to use the restroom and then goes back upstairs but
after that I don't recall interacting or saying anything Stephan.

it still crosses my mind that SS may have tangible evidence against her. right now, the only people who know what happened with Madeline that nite and morning hours, is SS, JS and Madeline. JS is a liar and her explanations are full of contradictions concerning herself and Madeline. and of course SS.

SS, of course, evidence of SA for several years with Madeline...and a liar. SS is silent now. will he remain silent? right now, the cause of death is strangulation, but what is the estimated time of death? was she drugged, what did her digestive system reveal?

She was specifically asked what Maddie ate at home that night (nothing, apparently) and what was served at the birthday party. I think they know the stomach contents?

I would think they would have an accurate and detailed account of what Madeline ate at the party from her grandmother and other guests including the time she ate. I also think that her body was found in time for forensics to be able to examine the contents of her stomach so presumably they could work out a time of death with a reasonably close timeframe.

I found it telling, as well, that Jen said she usually gets up to make Maddie breakfast before school and confirmed that M is a breakfast eater. Yet, Maddie left home extra early only to "sleep in the car" and skip a take-out breakfast that takes minutes to order and eat. And Jen just rolled over and refreshed the rain video.

Dead girls don't eat. So JS could get those extra zzzzs.

It’s strange that JS didn’t even bother to really explain her enabling in her interview with counsel present. She just states things like him being one of her “best friends” and letting him “babysit” Maddie made total sense. Wtf?
Not at all, she didnt even acknowledge it (enabling) which I found odd, no guilty rants excusing her own behavior " I didnt know, I didnt see it coming." Instead ramblings about how she wouldnt let her go on sleepovers, or about people snapping pics under a door. Sounds to me like she was trying to sell herself as this responsible attentive mother and by telling these stories she is hoping you'll form the impression that she is super attentive and had no idea what was right under her nose, so the police can just keep it moving, no need to look here.... (my pet peeve seed planters)
She never says she was afraid of him. She doesn’t allude to being threatened. She never once expresses that she had fears about the eventual outcome of Maddie being a damaged and traumatized young girl. She does not say she was coerced into anything, or even manipulated!

But she says he’s a “master manipulator” as though she lacked agency. What that tells me, is that had empathy for his “mental health” issues and attempts at supporting him were just good faith efforts that he would get his life together. lol, ok Jen.
and that is codependency in action. because she wanted him around to do what she couldnt, ( didnt want to) other men never stuck around, for whatever reason, but he sure did, the payoff: she got her own needs met. For me anyway, her hugging him in the beginning, her lack of any heated response about anything when talking to police, and her rehearsed sounding answers are starting to make more sense. ( and by sense I mean in a selfish way, b/c it met her own needs) she needed a nanny.
Where was that compassion for her daughter’s struggles with school? The physical and mental effect of SS’s abuse??

Even in after “learning” that he was her daughter’s murderer, JS’s statements lack emotion toward Maddie. She has rarely, if ever, described Maddie as the beautiful, sweet girl that others had no problem articulating to reporters. Did she feel so bad for him that he couldn’t satisfy his sexual desires with her that her own daughter was the key to making him happy? It just floors me how she can’t even pretend to give a damn about what’s happened to Maddie. Her knee-jerk reaction to being presented with the evidence of SS abusing her daughter was to demand that CS get his son a lawyer.
can I get an amen up in here !!! Preach.

Im with you on this whole post!!!

I thought LE and JS mentioned it helped JS and Maddie stay on top of making sure Maddie had hygienic supplies needed for home and school by the time her period is expected to start
Or, just keep supplies on hand in case they are needed. Why not stored in the bathroom cabinet with the toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc., like other households inhabited by girls?

(Not directed at you AppleTreeGreen, just in general)

Audio of JS police interview at 50:57:

"We had discussed him coming back and living with me. We were also considering living together as a companionship..."
Cop: You told investigators that the reason your relationship fizzled off with Stephan was that your antidepressants ...(redacted)...
Cop: You had moved on to other people had you not?
"Yes."
Cop: So despite having moved on with other people, you were still having Stephan come up and visit and had plans to cohabitate with him again eventually?
"Possibly, yes."
Now, June 16 of last year, at 9:30pm, you texted Stephan this: Maddie's no longer sleeping with me. I can't risk it. What does that mean?
Long, long pause: "I have no idea."

Ignorance is bliss for Jennifer Soto.
And ... it sounds like she had begun relationships with other people during this same time!
MOO.
I have been racking my brain, trying to figure out what JS could mean by her text message to SS.

“I can’t risk it.”

Any thoughts?

I don't know what she was referring to but I assuming it wasn't a good thing.

I also wonder about JS's concern of hiding the breakup from Maddie. I guess I could understand since Maddie knew SS for most of her life, but it seems odd to pretend you're a couple when you weren't even married anyway.

And then Maddie supposedly figured it out because she didn't see them hugging any more? That's....weird. I would think most kids that age aren't really paying attention to how often their mom hugs her boyfriend, let alone make conclusions. Kids are a bit more self-absorbed than that.

To me, Jen was lying about that whole "hiding the breakup" situation and I think Maddie was used to keep SS around since he wouldn't be coming around for JS after a breakup.

Yes, in context of the questions and answers JS was being asked when she was asked about the subject text sent to SS in June 2023 late evening, I believe JS was saying she doesn't want MS sleeping with her because she can't risk not getting a good nights sleep.

Same as before when her beauty rest was more important to JS than the safety of her only child.

ETA: Previously posted the relative portion of YT transcript for full context of subject text. JMO

Or had Maddie threatened to tell? Seems like her and JS were fighting a lot toward the end if we are to believe CS and DS. And that’s based on SS’s account. I think he loved that they fought. He got to groom Maddie to hate her mother more and in turn manipulate Jen into feeling like the struggling mother with a difficult pre-teen.

Wasn’t it grandma who said Maddie didn’t wanna go home when she stayed over? I cannot remember.

Could be-- nobody knows coming from JS. However, this text was sent to SS in June 2023 after 9 pm. I think it helps if one reads how/when the subject of the text came up during the interview. In response, JS said she did not remember the text.

JS can remember that she ate a pub sub, whatever that is, but she can't remember what Maddie was wearing that night.

The last night she saw her daughter alive presumably, she remembers what she ate but not what her daughter was wearing.

SMH

I think she doesn’t remember because she doesn’t know.

She doesn’t know what M was wearing on her last night alive because M was already with S upstairs. She doesn’t know what M was wearing the morning after because M was already dead.

Frequently, this is not an easy question to answer. I could not tell you what pyjamas my child is wearing in bed right now, except it is shorts and a long-sleeved shirt. My child is ten and dresses independently, after teeth brushing, comes to the living room with a blanket wrapped around them, jumps into bed with a blanket wrapped around them, and tuck them in. I could only say pyjama shorts and a long-sleeved top; I don't know what colour, but they have several.
But would you know the last time you saw them?

if they have jenns text that says "I cant risk it" don't they have Stephans? he may have factory reset his phone , but jenn didnt, so there should be some context on one of these phones ( they retrieved all his old texts ) I bet they know what she meant because they have the texts ( context) maybe they're testing her, to see if she gives an answer that is different or would be consistent with having prior knowledge of what was going on ?

She missed her birthday party because of work, so wouldn’t she want to wake up the next day and make breakfast special for her?

I think a jury is going to be disgusted by her. I think they, like we, are going to be questioning why she isn't on trial as well.

I agree iamshadow21….. and even more perplexing IMO…… if the state really thinks they need JS for any testimony or evidence….. why no charges? Isn’t it often seen where multiple parties are charged, and eventually one might either cooperate or agree to lesser charges or a plea in exchange for testimony against another?

I am still confused why JS was offered a proffer or ‘Queen for a Day’ (my term…. IANAL) for evidence in this case. Unless it was only an opportunity to allow them to get more information or evidence. And to further check facts and inconsistencies. MOO

I'm unclear what the immunity covers. Is it just an agreement they won't charge her for previously lying to the cops? Or is it more of a blanket immunity of agreeing not to charge her with anything having to do with crimes against Maddie?

I just get the hunch she was still lying in that interview....and she was involved somehow, though I don't know to what extent. Yet, she is not charged with a thing.
